Did anyone enjoy Taylor but felt at 3.5 hours it…. dragged a little?

I admit that i’m not her biggest fan and it was a bit of a fluke that i got a ticket to go with friends.

I enjoy her music and think she’s amazing but a dedicated Swiftie… I am not!

I just felt that it could have been at least thirty mins shorter and would have been more enjoyable. Even amongst the hardened Swifties around us, I sensed a little restlessness.

Anyone else agree?

The proper old school performers do concerts this long once the opening acts are done. Have gone to a few concerts where the opening act starts an hour after stated time, headline act does about 40 minutes and buggers off.

Much prefer to listen to solid selection of back catalogue, sprinkle of new stuff and the bangers to close.

I'm not a swiftie but if I'm not home watching TV, they don't need to switch acts to keep my attention. Paying for the whole concert experience and associated faff means that I want to grab everything I can live.

We were there last night. Couldn't see anyone flagging and there was enough energy to make Wembley shake with the surprise songs. Only Taylor Swift can pull off a 3 hour show like that.

JuneSoon · 24/06/2024 07:24

A YouTuber who styles himself The Swiftologist agrees with you and has selected various segments that would benefit from being shorter.

Springsteen used to do 5 hour gigs!

JuneSoon · 24/06/2024 07:25

Did she do But Daddy I Love Him?

I’m sure it was amazing.
But to state only she can pull off 3 hours is a bit much.
Yes the current state of the music industry there are probably few who could but there have been and will be many acts as good and better.

KitKatChunki · 24/06/2024 07:33

Goodness - you get tickets to the gig of the year then slag it off?
Stop gloating on here and think of what you've just witnessed. So many people were desperate to see her and have your experience and you sound thoroughly ungrateful.

I'm glad you've joyed it but please stop with the 'only TS can.....'.

Love what she stands for but don’t really get her either. Maybe I am a music snob. Somebody explain to me why her music is so good please.

Over 3 hours isn't that unusual, even Leonard Cohen managed it when he was nearly 80, he obviously didn't dance round like TS but did spend a lot of it on his knees which I certainly couldn't manage, I probably wouldn't be able to get up againGrin

Iaskedyouthrice · 24/06/2024 07:38

I am starting to get concerned with what I assume is grown women, coming across as nutters on the many Taylor Swift threads. Already some of the replies on this are just fucking cringe. It's getting old quickly.

TS is an incredible performance but that’s absolute nonsense that only she can pull off a 3 hour show!

There are loads of artists that can and do to this, I saw the Foos last week and they sailed through a 3 hour set as they have done many times before. Bruce Springsteen will do the same at Wembley in July.

Exactly - you spent hundreds on tickets people were desperate to get and think the best you can do afterwards is to pour scorn. It's like Verucca Salt in Willy Wonka.

Some people are deranged and I am not convinced they are fans. Just as boring as the VAT threads IMO.

Rubbish - many many acts can sustain a three hour show. She's a singer and songwriter not a demigod.

Ndd135632 · 24/06/2024 07:44

@Alwaysthesun24 I love to see women thriving and inspiring and holding it together. She is a resilient successful woman who is inspiring a whole generation of girls. That’s what she stands for. Can’t you see that ? I don’t even like her music but I see that.

Greenlittecat · 24/06/2024 07:44

We couldn't afford tickets but I've seen lots of clips from tiktok! Looks like a great night!

Getting home after looked a nightgmare.

I like longer concerts, especially when you pay so much for tickets it makes it worth it imo

No @KitKatChunki this post you wrote is cringe. The OP can think what she damn well likes. The fact that you wrote this response to her is just embarrassing. For you.

Edited

Agreed.

Everygrain · 24/06/2024 07:47

I would rather see a longer concert of the artist I have paid to see rather than them have a support act for an hour before a shorter main artist set.

Alwaysthesun24 · 24/06/2024 07:47

The gig of the year.....🤣🤣🤣🤣

RatZilla · 24/06/2024 07:48

You did well. I can't get through a 3 minute song of hers on the radio without switching over.

Agree. When I was 17 I was listening to Teenage Fanclub and The Wedding Present. TS is an amazing female performer and I don’t ever denigrate that. But her music is obvious. It’s so damn obvious. I don’t get the hype
