Did anyone enjoy Taylor but felt at 3.5 hours it…. dragged a little?

I admit that i’m not her biggest fan and it was a bit of a fluke that i got a ticket to go with friends.

I enjoy her music and think she’s amazing but a dedicated Swiftie… I am not!

I just felt that it could have been at least thirty mins shorter and would have been more enjoyable. Even amongst the hardened Swifties around us, I sensed a little restlessness.

Anyone else agree?

I guess if you are truly fan, 3 hours will go very quickly and you always wish the concert was longer, you always want more, you said you are not, so I understand how you feel, I have attended concerts with my husband where the band was not my favourite and I was bored after an hour

@Alwaysthesun24 I love to see women thriving and inspiring and holding it together. She is a resilient successful woman who is inspiring a whole generation of girls. That’s what she stands for. Can’t you see that ? I don’t even like her music but I see that.

You'd think Stevie Nicks and Madonna never happened.

Now Nicks, I would pay to see. 76 years old and she still has it!

Nope, not the same thing. People don’t defend her, they go wild. The two current Taylor Swift related threads on trending are perfect examples of that. Two people have posted threads not saying they didn’t like her music but that they thought the gif was a bit long or that the tickets weee difficult and the responses have been utterly out of context from fans. It’s insane. You’re not allowed to say ‘Oh she’s not for me’ which is the extent of my feeling on it without being told you’re wrong or you’re ‘attacking Taylor Swift’ or you’re a misogynist. It’s extreme.

I don’t think most fans would care if you said ‘I’m not into her music’. But it rarely stops there.

Also, it’s strange that so many people start threads because they ‘just don’t get her’.

Personally, if there was any thread about Beyoncé, Adele, Harry Styles or Bruce Springsteen, whether positive or negative, I wouldn’t comment. I’m not into those people, so why would I feel the need to write anything. So many people go on Taylor threads just to tell us how rubbish she is. 🤪

Your DD may need to grow up a bit for the sake of her own DD. A so called parent that can’t even allow her poor child a bit of harmless enjoyment?

Yes, I agree with this.

I wanted to see FM on their last tour but no way could I afford the ticket prices!!! Converts are so expensive these days!

It's called expressing an opinion.

WhatsUpNowThen · 24/06/2024 08:35

Bruce Springsteen does equally long concerts

Nobody can beat the late Ken Dodd for staying power.

Negangirlxx · 24/06/2024 08:36

Yeah, I wouldn’t be able to do 3/3.5 hours.

1.5-2 hours is plenty long enough for a gig, especially when they go on until 10:30/11pm and then you have to factor in time for travelling home afterwards.

randoname · 24/06/2024 08:36

TheTartfulLodger · 24/06/2024 07:54

Yep, inspiring a whole generation of girls to parade about in ridiculous outfits getting laughed at...

Which says everything about the laughers and nothing about the girls. I was there last night. Everyone in home made and customised outfits, 3+ hours of pure joy and such high energy. The stewards were dancing, free water flowing and being passed along the crowds. Amazing atmosphere sustained on the walk back to the tube and on the trains with Wembley staff swapping bracelets and saying what a great crowd and looking forward to the August dates.

I don’t think she’s rubbish, lots of people have said she’s a good gig and that’s great. It’s just not my thing. But I have said that in public and received unbelievable backlash. So I’m not criticising her at all, but her crazy fans?! I’ll criticise them all day long. Their behaviour is ridiculous and often downright abusive. Same as 1D and Bieber fans back in the day, giving out death threats or trying to shut anyone else down for their opinion - in this case that they felt the gig was a little too long - is never okay.

SerafinasGoose · 24/06/2024 08:37

All I can think of when I see media images of Taylor Swift's stage costumes is Adelaid Adams from Calamity Jane.

Says Doris Day: 'Why, she ain't got nuthin' on but her underwear!'

I must be getting old ...

There’s an awful lot of posts by people who “somehow managed to get tickets but I’m not really a fan”. Beginning to think there’s some folk at play that are trying to downplay TS’s fame. And I say that as someone who isn’t a fan and didn’t get tickets.

Terea · 24/06/2024 08:37

@Mitsky we also saw Foos and DG was his usual extraordinarily energetic self (not sure TS could do what he did)

MessyNDepressy · 24/06/2024 08:37

Not for me, I could’ve happily listened to another 3 hours, there were so many amazing songs she didn’t play 😭. In saying that, I’m a huge fan so I can understand if you’re not then it might be a bit long.

Oh I called her out don’t worry 😉

Blimey, the shite I listened to of hers growing up! And the number of Marvel films I’ve watched with no idea what’s going on.

It’s what you do for your kids isn’t it?

Summerdew · 24/06/2024 08:38

We couldn’t get tickets and my DDs both absolutely adore her so went to see it at the cinema. (I’m not paying thousands for hospitality seats). Obviously not the same as live but the atmosphere and support for each other of all the tween and teen girls there was amazing. I expect the concert is similar but on a bigger scale (I say girls as our audience was all female). They were singing and dancing and cheering each other - it was wonderful.
I think you are a bit unreasonable OP because it’s well known how long the concert is, and you’re always free to leave before the end.
I think the outfits are glorious and me and both DDs have debated at length which are our favourites. Those sparkly knee high boots - beautiful!
I’ve seen a lot of bands live - to be fair mainly rock and indie - and the best ones are those who connect with the fans, I’d say from what I hear that TS does that. So a great gig for the fans and one I really wish I’d been able to get tickets for .

ethelredonagoodday · 24/06/2024 08:38

My daughter and her best mate absolutely loved it! No one was flagging round us.

WhatsUpNowThen · 24/06/2024 08:39

I still get flashbacks of the two (!) Springsteen shows my husband dragged me too. I think 4.5 hours long?!! I was losing the will

You mean you took a ticket that others would have died for!!?? 😉

Ha ha.
Good one.

Projectme · 24/06/2024 08:40

3 hours is a long time for 1 singer to perform but from my understanding (DD went last Friday), TS' costume changes, stage presence and all over entertainment value was absolutely incredible. My DD was certainly entertained (buzzing!!) for about 5 hours with both the warm-up bands/singers (she loves Paramour too).

Maybe if you'd gone to see someone you absolutely LOVED, you also wouldn't have noticed the time and those 3 hours would have whizzed by

CurtainsOfSparta · 24/06/2024 08:30

🙄

Of course, someone can’t start a thread saying they had a great time but it was a bit long for them as it’s longer than a standard concert without it being goady and ‘bullshit’ - this is exactly what we’re talking about. You can’t have a single criticism without it being a deliberate attack or trolling.

You fans need help.

I’m not actually a big fan although I like her. I went twice to take 2 sets of my nieces as birthday gifts.

When there are so many people that love to knock her, really knock her, it’s not surprising that I’m suspicious.

I’ve been glad in the past that some concerts are over but if I knew that person got loads of hate here, I wouldn’t come on here and say it, when the issue was that I just wasn’t that into them.

MossyBottomFarm · 24/06/2024 08:41

I am ambivalent to TS. She's talented, and seems nice enough but I wouldn't actively seek out her music. And by all accounts she puts on a good show, and the people who have been have all enjoyed it.

What I find fascinating is the number of people who go on any thread about her and say "I don't like her, I don't see what the fuss is about" or whatever. You don't see it on threads about other artists anywhere near the same extent.

It's almost as if music is subjective and people like different things...

Ndd135632 · 24/06/2024 07:35

Love what she stands for but don’t really get her either. Maybe I am a music snob. Somebody explain to me why her music is so good please.

Quite simply, different people like different things.

Not everyone will like the music that you like, vice versa.

And there's nothing wrong with that.

I thought Paramour had split up?! Didn’t realise they were the support act

Where actually are the threads about other artists though?
MN is TS thread a-plenty.
