Did anyone enjoy Taylor but felt at 3.5 hours it…. dragged a little?

I admit that i’m not her biggest fan and it was a bit of a fluke that i got a ticket to go with friends.

I enjoy her music and think she’s amazing but a dedicated Swiftie… I am not!

I just felt that it could have been at least thirty mins shorter and would have been more enjoyable. Even amongst the hardened Swifties around us, I sensed a little restlessness.

Anyone else agree?

Goodness - you get tickets to the gig of the year then slag it off?
Stop gloating on here and think of what you've just witnessed. So many people were desperate to see her and have your experience and you sound thoroughly ungrateful.

For goodness sake, get a little perspective! This thread is about someone going to a light entertainment evening.

You are talking like she had a life saving transplant, that hundreds are on the waiting list for, and then moaned about the recovery time being a bit longer than she expected.

Goodness. The posters who think they have superior music tastes are out in force Hmm

What do you get out of sneering at other people's music preferences?

I quite like Taylor Swift, but I'm not a particular fan. I could listen to Bruce Soringsteen, Fleetwood Mac and Dire Straits all day and love classical music, but I don't look down my nose at other acts and display faux naivety at why other people might prefer TS.

I don't think I'm superior.
I do think that putting TS and her music on a pedestal is a tad OTT.

I can see that's what she wants us to think. I'm not 100% convinced she is that.

Yeah she is so not a girls girl. I like TS but she has rereleased her latest album so many times, always inline when someone else (Billie Eilisjmh off the top of my head) releases their new ones to stop them getting the top spot.

She does a lot of shady stuff behind the secenes

A YouTuber who styles himself The Swiftologist agrees with you and has selected various segments that would benefit from being shorter.

Springsteen used to do 5 hour gigs!

I'm seeing Springsteen at Wembley in July. I love him but a 5 hour gig would be far too long - plus we'd miss the last train home and I need to work the next day!

There's a ridiculous amount of PR behind TS image. Lots of us see through it.
BE is 100x more interesting - her new album is amazing.

We were there last night. Couldn't see anyone flagging and there was enough energy to make Wembley shake with the surprise songs. Only Taylor Swift can pull off a 3 hour show like that.

Bruce Springsteen does equally long concerts.

Iaskedyouthrice · 24/06/2024 08:01

The worse posters are the ones that start by saying 'I'm not really a fan but' then later reveal themselves to be absolutely batshit superfans. I say worse, they are my favourites.

I know! It's mad isn't it?! I always thought she was a nice, normal girl but her dad has basically bought her career. The leaked emails are something else

That said, i do enjoy her music!

Yep, inspiring a whole generation of girls to parade about in ridiculous outfits getting laughed at...

Oh ffs. Women can’t ever win can they lol

Alwaysthesun24 · 24/06/2024 07:55

I was just about to say that.

She barely left the stage to change her outfits. It was truly worth every penny paid, she was fantastic. The show she puts on is incredible and I say that as a huge Springsteen fan. He is also incredible but they are not comparable, their gigs are totally different but both work their weight in gold!

I think it’s fine for people not to be a fan of her music but you cannot say that she is overhyped or disregard something because it’s not to your taste. The fact she is bringing in 300million to the UK economy speaks for itself. She is clearly doing something right, whether you like it or not!

I saw Meatloaf do a 3.5 hour concert back in the 80s, high energy the whole way through. TS doesn’t have the monopoly on amazing epic shows.

Vopik · 24/06/2024 08:05

I took my niece as I had use of a hospitality suite as a work perk. I really enjoyed the songs I knew but for a non fan it felt a bit same-y at times. The energy was out of this world though. I wasn’t clock watching and the three hours did fly by.

We went to see Bruce Springsteen at Cardiff and he played for over 3 hours-FYI he’s 74 years old and was amazing. So no-it’s not only TS who can do that.

Renamedyetagain · 24/06/2024 08:08

I admit I don't know loads of her songs but was in the standing section last night with my girls. She was phenomenal. What an entertainer.. hype is probably because she is multi talented. Songwriter, plays guitar and piano live with poise and relaxed chat after a 3 hr perfectly choreographed set...she's a wonderful dancer (the energy of the dancers and backing singers!) as well as all the chat and fun she has with the audience. She is an all rounder really and has gained a new fan in me. That said, it started too late (support acts, second one, too long I thought) and did go on a bit towards the end. I thought they managed the crowds at the tube very well, and enjoyed the abba singalong in the queue..

Bruce Springsteen does equally long concerts.

Multiple people have done equally as long and even longer gigs that have been enjoyed by their fans. So bizarre to claim that ‘Only Taylor Swift’ could pull off a 3 hour gig 🙄

greencartbluecart · 24/06/2024 08:08

Oh I think Taylor rates as high as Springsteen in my book
She writes her own material , she keeps her band around

Yes she changed outfits as part of the show

But at least she has a dignity about her outfits that has been missing in most female stars over the decades
Even if it's a leotard it manages to not look anything like a Madonna leotard

Someone’s never seen Bruce Springsteen live 🤣

(edited to acknowledge that I’m seemingly about the 50th person to bring up Bruce Springsteen)
