So, summer in nearly upon us and I still haven't gotten into shape!
AIBU to ask some of you to join me in a 30 day challenge to strive towards being a little bit healthier?
My aim is to get up early every morning and do a 30 min walk/run and stick to a healthy diet.
I'm hoping we could all post a message every night/other night updating on our progress and being a support of sorts to each other to keep us focused on our long term goal.
Anyone up for it?

Well a good exercise day yesterday but food choices were not great. New scales arrived and I can lose 3 pounds by moving them to a different room. Im
going to take the lowest reading as the right one!

weaseleyes · 07/06/2024 10:50

Good strategy, @Troubledoor1! 😀

Ezekiela · 07/06/2024 13:55

Scales fluctuated between 13 st 1 and 13 st 3 (floor is uneven.) Started at 13 st 6 so I've lost at least 3lb.

Yesterday I got engrossed in something so I forgot to eat lunch. Today I've been to Greggs for a steak bake and Belgian bun. Tonight's meal is likely to be a late night kebab. Walking a fair bit but not enough to burn all that off.

SpicyNikNak · 07/06/2024 16:48

So far so good today. Healthy breakfast and lunch and day 11 DS which was a killer. Not sure what's for dinner yet but I've a night alone so it's going to be tough to avoid the snacks!

I don't understand this fasting until tea time thing. I thought it was better to eat earlier in the day and try not to have so much in the evening. Has the thinking changed on that?

I don't know if there is a specific time of day that is best to have the eating window, but my kids don't notice as much if I don't eat breakfast/lunch (or are in school then) versus if I weren't to eat dinner, and I don't want them skipping meals/copying me. Plus I enjoy a plate of snacks after they are in bed and I can have my me time/wind down time.

I have bought a hula hoop. I used to be able to do it as a child. It's giving me lots of exercise bending to pick it up. I can't do it at all! Very frustrating.

I have an infinity hoop (I think it's called that), it attaches around your belly and you swing a weight around your waist instead, takes a bit of getting used to but no bending down to keep picking it up, I also wear a top under it as it pinches my skin otherwise. I used to have a weighted hula hoop but got ridiculous bruising from it.

Toooldtoworry · 08/06/2024 06:59

Been to the gym x 3 this week and having a plan drawn up by a PT this Tuesday.

lairyfights9 · 08/06/2024 08:27

💙 for yesterday
Did 30ds
Breakfast - protein smoothie
Lunch - tuna mayo sandwich with crisps. But I also ate half of dds because I didn't want it to go to waste even though I know that's silly and excess calories are waste and worse for me than a bit of wasted money!
Dinner - olives, vegan pizza from pizza express and a slice of vegan chocolate cake with cream

Day 22 of 30 day shred today, haven't done it yet but I will get it done. Well done @SpicyNikNak ! Level 2 is rough. Level 3 wasn't as hard a jump as I was expecting if that's helpful to know 😊 the strength moves were easier for me than the level 2 ones, but the cardio was harder. One of the ab moves was sit ups as well and I can't do a sit up (I've always had crap core strength anyway, but probably worse now after 2 c sections in the past 2 and a half years!) so I think I'm going to have to just do crunches for that bit.

Hope everyone has a good day today

Troubledoor1 · 08/06/2024 08:41

I messed up yesterday by eating lunch too early and having too little. By 5pm I was ravenous and snacked at home until eating at 9pm. So next week I’ll focus on eating a more filling lunch and eating my evening meal earlier. Oh well, a new day today!

SpicyNikNak · 08/06/2024 10:26

Level 2 felt like a massive leap from Level 1 @lairyfights9 I'm not looking forward to repeating it but I will! I'm probably going to end up doing it over longer than 30 days just so I don't end up injured but I'm determined to do the full programme. I find the core the easiest bit but then I've not had 2 c sections!! The cardio is my downfall my aging knees don't like it one bit! Have you any plans for what's after 30ds? I'm toying with the idea of ripped in 30 but maybe I'm overly optimistic 🤣

MomOfTwoGirls2 · 08/06/2024 10:43

Woo hoo, down almost 1kg in a week. From 71kg last Saturday to 70.1kg today! Started at 71.6kg 13 days ago at start of this challenge. So happy!!

I figured out that carbs were holding me back.

Last 2 nights I dropped my main carb from my dinner. I had Salmon fillet, with broccoli, carrots and spinach sauté’d in butter and garlic. Dropping the side of rice or potatoes I would usually have with it.

I still get loads of carbs with all the veg and fruit that I eat.

I had very little alcohol all week, just one G&T with slimline tonic last night, and a Prosecco during the week.

Almost at the halfway point in the 30 day challenge. Would love to lose another 2kg by the end of the 30 days.

Weekend is my tricky time. Hopefully this will motivate me to make good choices next 2 days 😊

MammaTill2Pojkar · 08/06/2024 14:25

64.8kg today, still 100g up from last Saturday, but 900g down from my starting weight so I will say ❤for today. I think the birthday cake must have been the cause of regaining and then plateauing weight, that ran out on Weds, so hoping for steady loss again now.

Haven't done my 30 min workout yet today, but will get it done soon. Haven't missed a 30 min work out yet!

My husband read one of my updates the other day and was shocked that I hadn't eaten until 5.30/6pm, but then he decided to try not eat until dinner time himself a couple of days ago and managed it! I'm thinking our eldest suddenly randomly talking about his Daddy's belly has helped spur him on. I hope he can keep it up as he is in the obese bmi category I believe. He won't fast until dinner time every day but he is skipping breakfast if he can and lunch too (except on gym days) so I am hopeful he can regain a bit of control of his waistline.

Ezekiela · 08/06/2024 16:12

Weekend away. Only unhealthy food options and lots of alcohol. Not looking forward to weighing myself on Monday.

Well done to those of you who are losing weight.

lairyfights9 · 09/06/2024 07:47

💙 for yesterday I think, just because food choices weren't great overall though I don't think my calories would have been too awful. Did 30ds
Breakfast - pop tarts
Lunch - a pepperami and packet of crisps
Dinner - takeaway Thai (tamarind duck and sticky rice, ate the whole lot and it was great 😂)
Had half a glass of whiskey and Pepsi max in the evening, no snacks

Weighed myself yesterday and had jumped up by 3lbs! Possibly just fluctuating but will weigh again tomorrow to see if it's sticking around..

@SpicyNikNak yeah level 2 does feel so much harder. I thought I remembered liking level 3 more than level 2 and I do overall I think. I'm thinking I might carry on with the 30ds but cycle through the levels each day to mix it up a bit. I haven't done ripped in 30, what's it like?

Troubledoor1 · 09/06/2024 08:05

Yesterday was spent gardening and I walked 12,000 steps! Food was good, smaller portions of really lovely food. Too much wine though, but it was lovely wine.

Hard to resist lovely wine!

I also gave in to a lovely wine last night 😊
Will stick to Gin & slimline tonic tonight.

Over the past few days have had pizza and cocktails out (nice luxurious pizza but still) plus cheesecake out.

I did go for a 13 mile walk yesterday, had tortilla chips with tzatziki and posh dark chocolate after it.

Breakfast: peanut butter and marmite on Vogel soya and linseed toast
Lunch yesterday was chicken noodle soup (knorr), 2 Ryvita with spread and cucumber crudites
snacks: 1 large plum, Greggs vegan sausage roll and skinny whip toffee bar.
dinner: cheese and tomato omelette with walnut and avocado and beetroot salad.

this morning:
breakfast: Same as yesterday

Ezekiela · 09/06/2024 11:04

I managed to find a classic MN "massive salad" for dinner last night so that has helped rebalance things a bit. Still away, so can't weigh myself.

Giving today a ❤️ I've eaten low calorie mostly because I didn't have breakfast until late so skipped lunch and went straight to dinner. Plus completed day 13 30DS. My Fitness Pal is really helping me stop mindlessly cupboard grazing. I'm not weighing (don't have scales) but my fitness is definitely going up.

Ripped in 30 is similar format and difficulty to 30ds @lairyfights9 but I think it's 4 levels instead of 3. It's a long time since I did it though so I might be looking back in my rose tinted 😀

MammaTill2Pojkar · 09/06/2024 20:04

I think it's a ❤today, done my workout, fasted until about 5.30.

MomOfTwoGirls2 · 09/06/2024 23:29

The wine made me do it!!

Was doing really well all day.
Shared a nice bottle of red wine with DH. Would have still been with calorie range.
but added a slice of toast and half a bag of sensations crisps before bed!!

Ah well, no more wine until Fri or Sat evening. Hopefully DH will finish the crisps….

Glenthebattleostrich · 10/06/2024 06:26

Good morning, another 1lb down today taking my total to 11lb.

Beezknees · 10/06/2024 07:30

Morning all, well done on your progress!

Not a great food weekend for me but I'm feeling energised today. Won't be able to weigh until Wednesday when I get chance to go to Boots (don't own scales as I'd obsess too much over it) hoping to have at least maintained.

Troubledoor1 · 10/06/2024 07:52

Hi everyone. I’ve lost 1.5 pounds this week so I’m pleased. I’ve ordered alcohol free beer for the weekend, I just find the wine makes me sleep poorly and be a carb monster the next day. Busy week so I’ll try focus on keeping to my calorie guidelines and walking 10,000 steps a day. Anything else is a bonus! Hope you all have a good week.
