To think that most people pee in the pool, on holiday? Do you?

Just back from a hot holiday. Hotel had a lovely big pool, with a swim up bar serving all manner of cocktails, wine, beer etc. People would be in the pool for hours drinking, chatting etc. Surely everyone is actually peeing in the pool? And do you?

No, pool or sea

I'm worried at so many peeing in the sea. Love to go to the beach, but not to swim in a cocktail of other people's urine. I know you may think the sea is big, but when you have a concentration of people in the safe area to swim, the pee of 50 or so people will just be swirling around for ages. And the poor fish, seals etc. In a pool is revolting too.

I imagine all the sea creatures pee in the sea as well. Compared with all the sewage, plsstic and chemicals in the sea, and rjsing sea temperatures, urine seems a pretty minor concern. Unless you are planning on drinking sea water.

Edited

All the issues you mention are due to human laziness and selfishness, like peeing in public swimming areas. No need to keep behaving like that. As for sea creatures, I can live with fish pee.

Bernardo1 · 15/05/2024 21:13

No!
Certainly not but I'm sure plenty of people do so before leaving.

These would be the same persons putting towels on loungers before breakfast, and drinking all day, unaware/uninterested of the location of ground floor toilets.

You do realise boat's under a certain size can empty their bogs into the sea don't you?

No, but thanks for that. I'll sleep much sounder now.

RookieMa · 15/05/2024 21:27

All pools are full of urine and faeces

Damnloginpopup · 15/05/2024 21:40

Lifeguard told me off for pissing in the pool last week.

Probably wouldn't have noticed if I was in the water.

OldPerson · 15/05/2024 21:46

The one and only European mainland holiday we went on. All-inclusive holiday. Yeah, right, listed as 4 star. The pool smelled like piss from 50m away.

It was basically a large urinal. Generally prefer pools to sea swimming - but we made an exception on this holiday.

I generally believe in explosing children to germs and building up immunity.

But that does not extend to whiffy pee-filled swimming pools.

My gut feeling was if the chlorine (possibly not even added) could not neutralise the noxious smell, no way were we entering the water.

And like you would not want to enter a toilet cubicle with smeared excrement, no one wants to get into a pool with pee. It's how you behave when people are not looking, that defines you as a person.

I’ve never been to any pool that stinks of piss. What kind of shithole were you staying at?

DanceMumTaxi · 15/05/2024 21:58

No no no! We all get out and go to the toilet. Weeing in the pool is so gross 🤢

ShyPoet · 15/05/2024 22:00

In an ordinary pool I would imagine few adults pee in the pool. In a swim up bar I imagine lots of adults pee in the pool.

BustyLee · 15/05/2024 22:07

I wish I had never clicked on this post because it had made me sick to the stomach. - it reminded me of something I once saw in a public pool a few years ago. I have not swum in a public pool since.

Hoolagan · 15/05/2024 22:32

Absolutely not OP. Perhaps once when I was under the age of 6??
not since then

SoupChicken · 15/05/2024 22:51

I haven’t but to be honest I don’t go to the loo that often, I drink just enough to keep me alive and no more, but I’ve always assumed other people are peeing in the pool, I’ve heard that competitive swimmers do when they’re training.

freakinthespreadsheets · 15/05/2024 23:14

Went to an AI hotel in Jamaica earlier this year. Several people, on different occasions during the week, were discussing peeing in the pool at the swim up bar and laughing about it. So I'm assuming the offending rate in practice is higher than this thread would have you believe, even if everyone is telling the truth here. They were mainly Canadians at the hotel apparently, we were two of the only eight Brits so unsure if its a cultural thing maybe?

LEWWW · 15/05/2024 23:18

It actually amazes me that a lot of people still think swim nappies soak up wee 😂

DeadbeatYoda · 15/05/2024 23:19

No way. In the sea, fine. Not in the pool, that's gross.

doorbellringer2 · 16/05/2024 00:12

Definitely not.
I have a completely rational fear of pools having the chemical in them that turns urine bright blue, and thus, a blue ink cloud would gather round my undercarriage.
Further more - people would gather round me pointing and call me a squid.

Doesn’t everyone?

What do you think those poor fish, seals, etc are doing?

Oh yeah they’re peeling and pooing too… and giving birth…and vomiting…and decomposing …

So for the record I don’t pee while in a pool but a large natural body of water… well fair is fair… if the wildlife is doing it then so am I.

Willywaitingforbreakfast · 16/05/2024 02:04

Vile special place in hell for people who do this

starfishmummy · 16/05/2024 02:20

I am so glad that I hate swimming and nothing would coax me into a pool!

Indeed. And I think some people have very limited experience of what consitutes a beach and think everywhere in the world has toilets every 400 yards 🤔

Bowies · 16/05/2024 06:17

Get out of pool (or sea!) to pee; it’s gross if that’s what was happening
