To think that most people pee in the pool, on holiday? Do you?

Just back from a hot holiday. Hotel had a lovely big pool, with a swim up bar serving all manner of cocktails, wine, beer etc. People would be in the pool for hours drinking, chatting etc. Surely everyone is actually peeing in the pool? And do you?

OP posts:
YaWeeFurryBastard · 14/05/2024 17:27

I wouldn’t and this massively puts me off hotels with swim up bars!

Isseywith3witchycats · 14/05/2024 17:21

This is exactly why i dont go anywhere near swimming pools on holiday just the thought of swimming with someone elses pee is not something i want to do

Same here! I've overheard mums in the pool tell their kids to "just go" when the child says they need to get out and pee.

As disgusting as it is, I'm sure it's quite common and there's not enough chlorine in the world to make it OK to swim in other people's pee.

BashfulClam · 14/05/2024 17:28

Ew no. I was taking to a friend earlier about going on holiday and my period being due. I can’t use tampons due to a tilt in my cervix which makes them painful and I really wouldn’t want that inside me absorbing some of the pool water due to the chlorine, sweat and piss that’s most likely in there. Why do folk do this as there is usually a toilet next to the pool!

Tamigotxh · 14/05/2024 17:28

They need those indicator dyes that highlight when someone has urinated in the water 💡

ValueAddedTaxonomy · 14/05/2024 17:28

Starting this thread is the conversational equivalent of your disgusting pool pissing habit, OP
<climbs out of Active Conversations and takes a shower>

twilightcafe · 14/05/2024 17:28

This is why I keep my mouth firmly shut in public swimming pools.

Dirty baggage. YABU

Mannikin · 14/05/2024 17:29

Yuck no! Even if I didn’t care about the other people using the pool (which I do) I wouldn’t want to be wearing a swimsuit soaked in urine either! So also wouldn’t wee in the sea personally - but have less of an issue with other people doing that as I’m sure the fish don’t get out to wee!

DownWithThisKindOfThing · 14/05/2024 17:29

No I do not. Grim. Even my kids since they were toilet trained at 2/3 years old wouldn’t pee in the pool! It was annoying as they would only be in for 2 mins and needed to go but if a 3 year old can manage to go to the loo so can an adult

yumyumyumy · 14/05/2024 17:29

Disgusting! No!

Planesmistakenforstars · 14/05/2024 17:30

Wtf? Of course not.

Londonrach1 · 14/05/2024 17:26

Swim nappies stop poo only not wee....

Exactly, once they're in the pool and fully saturated with pool water the urine will just flow off them and into the pool.

motleymop · 14/05/2024 17:30

Absolutely not.
I've tried to do it in the sea and found that very difficult - my mind overrides it.

Alwaystired23 · 14/05/2024 17:32

No, I get out and go to the toilet.

Idontjetwashthefucker · 14/05/2024 17:32

I hope this is just a stupid goady post but if not, you're a dirty bastard

exLtEveDallas · 14/05/2024 17:33

On an otherwise wonderful Mexico holiday a couple of years ago we renamed the swim up bar pool (thankfully a completely separate pool from the main) the "Piss Pool" as it was full, daily, from 11am till closing by people who rarely moved off the stools and gradually got drunker and drunker throughout the day.

By about 3pm the (admittedly quite small) pool was a cloudy green colour 🤢

SummerHouse · 14/05/2024 17:33

I would never do this. But I am not particularly outraged or disgusted. I am sure it goes on but I prefer not to think about it. It's not actually a health hazard. Urine is sterile. Now a code brown, that's a whole other situation...

Piss pool 😂

OlderGlaswegianLivingInDevon · 14/05/2024 17:35

Oh my goodness NO
it has never ever occurred to me to wee in a pool, and it hasn't occurred to me that other people would.

FlakyPoet · 14/05/2024 17:36

This thread has turned my stomach.

Portfun24 · 14/05/2024 17:36

We were away in March and noticed some people were in the swim up bar tanking drinks all day and not leaving for the toilet at all, so we didn't go in it. I think it's absolutely disgusting and always get out to pee.

Munchyseeds2 · 14/05/2024 17:36

No I don't
Do you??

ValueAddedTaxonomy · 14/05/2024 17:37

Urine is sterile

I remember an MN thread years ago when a women said she had let her child piss in the baby-and-toddler-group venue's kitchen sink where the kids snacks were being prepared. She was very keen on the "urine is sterile!!" claim.

I don't think it is true, or if it is true, it relates only to the freshly emerged substance, not to its lingering presence out in the world.

Letsbuildazoo · 14/05/2024 17:38

Er, no

norfolkbroadd · 14/05/2024 17:41

I've never peed in a pool. I imagine my kids probably do. But who are these disgusting adults who can't seem to use a toilet?

ToxicChristmas · 14/05/2024 17:41

WTF?! No, I'd never do that. As a grown up you get out of the pool and use the facilities intended for pissing. I find it quite shocking anyone would do that. I must be naive. That's so disgusting it's actually put me off using the pool when we go on holiday next month.
