To think that most people pee in the pool, on holiday? Do you?

Just back from a hot holiday. Hotel had a lovely big pool, with a swim up bar serving all manner of cocktails, wine, beer etc. People would be in the pool for hours drinking, chatting etc. Surely everyone is actually peeing in the pool? And do you?

Most definitely not, but I do in the sea.

I was once on holiday, many years ago, and some drunk bloke was standing on the side of the pool at night, openly pissing into the pool. What total dirty pig scum that individual was. fucking animal.

I do think that pools are a liking to cess-pits. Just think of all the minuet bits of genital hairs/secretions/fluids etc that naturally fall from our bodies when in the water.

and then there are the people who spit water into the pool. OMFG fucking gross. I've seen my friend do this. VILE.

Just no...

I think you're a little bit obsessed with people shitting themselves in bodies of water. Are you the poo troll? 💩

Edited

No but you can hire me, I can be on the poo patrol

So, you’d have to keep washing your wetsuit after every surf or bodyboard session. How is that practical unless you take spares with you? Also, often they are hired in holiday situations, what sort of person wees in a hired wetsuit?

When I did my PADI course, the instructor told me to wee in my wetsuit to keep myself warm.
Made me want to heave as I thought about all those people that had done it before me, even though they disinfected them overnight 😫

I think it is more that there is only a teaspoonful of it at a time, whereas an adult could produce an entire cupful.

A tiny baby might only produce a teaspoonful (and also can't control their bladder or tell you they need a wee, so it's kind of unavoidable that they'll wee in the pool), but there are also parents who tell their potty-trained three-year-old to wee in the pool because 'they're only a toddler', and I think anyone who has ever emptied a three-year-old's potty knows that they produce a lot more than a teaspoonful.

Did you watch that documentary with Romesh and Rob where Rob pissed in his dry suit 🤣

Oh god this is why I hate swimming pools. Give me a lake or the sea any day. Human soup with piss and skin and plasters. Just awful.

There's far worse things in the sea or a lake

We were playing in a lovely clear little spring once. Carried on our walk to find a decomposing sheep just around the bend... my brother had washed his face in the water...

VJBR · 15/05/2024 11:58

Yes if you are about 2 otherwise absolutely not, Disgusting.

coupdetonnerre · 15/05/2024 10:24

Both are gross to me - it's waste - why do it at all if you aren't an animal. If you can wee then you may as well poo like a filthy animal.

You do know that many boats can flush their toilets directly in to the sea as long as they're not too close to the coast?

Poo and wee are also very different - urine doesn't generally transmit diseases, whereas poo very much does - so you really can't compare the two.

Ivalueloyaltyaboveallelse · 15/05/2024 12:26

I definitely witnessed this when we went away last year, swim up bar, people downing loads of drinks and never going to the toilet.

This is why I won't use public pools, only those at my sister's home & some friends'.

Revolting. I wish all pools had those chemicals that pinpoint people mid-wee, and shame them.

Those chemicals are mythical, they don't exist.

I was so excited about our Cyprus all inclusive holiday with a pool this week. Now I'm apprehensive of a wee pool!

hamsterchump · 15/05/2024 14:17

Doseofreality · 15/05/2024 07:54

You pay to get it cleaned and done pre arrival 😉

I don't think pool cleaning is the same as pool draining and I don't think there is a pool cleaning process that could possibly guarantee to remove all the urine without draining. Also you have a lot more faith than I would have in the standard of holiday let cleaning regardless of description or monies paid!

Funkyslippers · 15/05/2024 14:18

No chance. Disgusting. Grown up adults can generally hold it in until they find a toilet. It's definitely not a thing

I really wouldn't worry. In reality, the amount of water in a swimming pool is pretty huge, and the amount of wee in it likely to be pretty small, even if everyone was weeing in it (which they're clearly not). Chances are it will be very, very (very very) diluted - there's been studies done that calculate its about 0.01% of the water https://www.livescience.com/59792-how-much-pee-is-in-swimming-pools.html#:~:text=They%20estimated%20that%20a%20220%2C000,(30%20l)%20of%20pee. (and Chlorine will have done its job, so it won't be unsafe)

How Much Pee Is in Swimming Pools?

20% of people admit peeing in the pool.

FarmGirl78 · 15/05/2024 10:35

Sea, yes. Pool, no.

Someone warned me years ago that some pools put chemicals in that react with urine to form a vivid colour. Probably just an urban legend but I've never risked it incase I'm nonchalantly sipping on a cocktail and the atmosphere suddenly goes frosty as everyone looks in disgust as the cloud of blue coloured dye expands out from my shorts.

That is most definitely a myth. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Urine-indicator_dye

I guess it’s not beyond the realms of possibility but you’d have to pay for the accommodation to be empty for several days whilst it took place plus the costs of doing the work which wouldn’t be cheap.

Bagpuss2022 · 15/05/2024 15:34

I’m on holiday at the moment and haven’t actually used the pool I don’t pee in the pool but you can tell the ones who do!

JL690 · 15/05/2024 15:42

@Bagpuss2022 does it have other chemicals in it that change colour when mixed with pee? 😂

Nanaof1 · 15/05/2024 16:50

Just the thought of lazy grown-azzed adults peeing in a pool is enough to make me want to retch.

Ihatelaundry · 15/05/2024 17:25

Eew, no!! You need to start getting out of the pool to pee in the toilet like a big girl. 🤢
