There's a CF parked in my drive

Village fete day. Parking's a nightmare. Come back from my food shop to find some CF has parked on my drive. So I parked across my drive (dropped kerb but no double yellows or white driveway signs) to put my shopping away. Nearest proper parking is going to be a 5-10 min walk away I reckon - it's heaving! No specific AIBU but I know you lot love a parking drama.
Can I leave my car infront of the driveway and head out to the fete? It would block the car in ... but there's no note, no blue badge etc ... can I get a parking fine?
My DH thinks we should park properly and walk back in but tbh im enraged someone parked on my drive!!!

💯 block them in

also ensure you have “had a few drinks” so can’t move the car later.
So sad 😁

what a cheeky bollocks

Merryoldgoat · 05/05/2024 13:32

People are fucking unbelievable aren’t they?

I’d definitely park across the drive.

ziipidydodah · 05/05/2024 13:33

If, when you get back many hours from now, you get any grief from the person on your drive, feign ignorance:

Your car? No I wasn’t expecting your car to be on my drive. I told aunt Betsy that she could park there, so just assumed it was hers. So that’s actually your car? Why did you park on my drive?”

Amx · 05/05/2024 13:33

Do it

bubblesforbreakfast · 05/05/2024 13:34

ooooohnoooooo · 05/05/2024 13:22

A diagram is mandatory 😬

Go out. All day. And all evening. Have a ball.

Chreky fuckers

Humblest of apologies. I've never attached a photo before but hope this works

Are you sure that you don’t know the person who has parked there? Many moons ago a regular on MN had the exact same thing- turns out her teen son had told a friend that it was no worries to park on the drive but had failed to inform his parents!

Easily checked with a quick WhatsApp message to family?

Surely this is what's happened. No one parks on the driveway of a stranger's house uninvited surely?

Personally I would phone the police if they have actually parked uninvited as they are trespassing - it's tantamount to breaking into your house!

At the risk of indulging in wild whataboutery, what if you were disabled and had to park on your own driveway to access your home. What if there was an emergency and an ambulance had to get onto your driveway?!

Pooskah · 05/05/2024 13:36

Can you phone someone and get it clamped? It's on private property

Pepsiisbetterthancoke · 05/05/2024 13:36

It would be good if you could find out their name and address from the registration number. I would then be going through small claims to get them to pay for any parking ticket

Unlikely that it would go anywhere but worth it to cause the CFs some pain

Daleksatemyshed · 05/05/2024 13:37

Do it for MN @bubblesforbreakfast .I would, just to teach them a lesson.

ssd · 05/05/2024 13:37

Do it. If you get a ticket we'll all chip in.

FloofyBear · 05/05/2024 13:38

WTAF! Absolutely park in front of the CF! Set up a go fund me page if you get a ticket, we can all chip in a £1 each!! Please let us know what happens!

Enjoy the fete!

Cheepcheepcheep · 05/05/2024 13:38

I see a few people have got here before me to advise having a couple of shandies 😂

Absolutely not unreasonable OP. Twats like this only do this stuff because others let them get away with it.

Please update us though, I want to know that justice was served!

I don't recognise it... not beyond possibility but the kids are too little to promise anyone, and me and DH don't have any texts or calls to say "oh sorry we pinched your drive love from BFF/random relative". Shopping is away, so I'm off out. I can't find local guidance... but tbh, I'll pay the fine of needed ConfusedBlush

Yes go out for a looong time!

Cece92 · 05/05/2024 13:39

Leave the car and block them in. I'd do that I'm twisted though. I'd be gobsmacked if someone parked in my drive way that's cheeky 😂

EliflurtleAndTheInfiniteMadness · 05/05/2024 13:39

Do it, block them in. Unlikely, but you never know maybe the CF will learn from it. It's really strange behaviour parking on someone's drive. Outside an emergency it wouldn't even occur to me it's an option.

KikiShaLeeBopDeBopBop · 05/05/2024 13:40

Here for this

TokyoSushi · 05/05/2024 13:40

On your actual drive? Absolutely block & enjoy the fete!

Testina · 05/05/2024 13:41

Yeah, I’d pay a fine for that.

RhubarbFairy · 05/05/2024 13:42

I'll contribute to the fine. Money we'll spent.

Shelinaa · 05/05/2024 13:42

Get the person running the fete PA system to announce that registration whatever has been blocked in for a few hours, and see who panics.

CommentNow · 05/05/2024 13:43

I would be inclined to park there and have DH stay out 30 mins longer and when he comes back, either pretend I don't know him. Or say its your husbands car and "try to reach him" and tell them you're "ever so sorry, he kmew you were going to the fete with a friend and assumed it was their car parked on the drive. Hence double parking. Make sure he is a good half hor away.

Testina · 05/05/2024 13:43

I’d also put a photo of village Facebook page, “love fête day! I don’t remember doing the raffle - but maybe I did as it appears that I’ve won a car!”

Pomegranatecarnage · 05/05/2024 13:43

Let us know what happened! Happy to chip in if a fine has been given! Maximum CFery.
