For voting Tory

I know what the Tories are and no, I don't like it. But I'm a woman, I have daughters and I come from generations of women who've been abused and dismissed because of their sex. I want better for my girls but I can't do it on my own. I need a government who will (at least give lip service to) supporting me. Am I a Tory? no. But the last thing women need is to be fighting their own government for basic recognition, so Tory it is.

SamanthaJayneFrances · 18/04/2024 17:05

Thank you both I will have a read

More likely to get raped by a Tory MP in the toilet than a transwoman.

Both have a common denominator.

Don't know the figures but I reckon there's been more sexual assaults by Tory MP's this year alone than transwomen. They certainly know what a woman is. As for the common denominator, not all transwomen are low lifes screwing the country to its knees, the Tories on the other hand.....

pointythings · 18/04/2024 17:07

OK. Let's say you stamp your feet enough that the government legislated to say all public toilets are now strictly birth sex only.
Do you think that would stop any of the examples I've given from happening?

@AdamRyan you're not going to get an answer. The GC feminists on this thread don't deal in practicalities.

This is madness

You recognise males are more violent so you don’t want single sex spaces

It’s illogical

There's a difference between wanting and accepting reality.

Do I want single sex toilets? Yes.

Do I realise that humans are messy and there are many situations where a male might legitimately be in those toilets? Also yes.

Thebestwaytoscareatory · 18/04/2024 17:09

Considering transpeople have been kicking about for centuries (and presumably using toilets during that time) without much issue, I guess the best solution would be to go back to dealing with it the same way we did before the tories decided to make this part of their culture war.

How many more times? Some of us are happy to share with trans women.

EasternStandard · 18/04/2024 17:10

The ‘stamp the feet’ part is interesting though

Sone people really don’t want laws to work better for women

Why is that?

Do you think puberty blockers are part of a “culture war”?

I’m a woman. I believe in equal financial, economic and social opportunities for all. I have a family and a great career. And a few gorgeous pets.

What is a ‘Gender Critical feminist’?

Why is gender ideology only related to women?

Children and young people are harmed too

Exactly sharing with trans women isn't the same as opening up completely mixed sex spaces
