For voting Tory

I know what the Tories are and no, I don't like it. But I'm a woman, I have daughters and I come from generations of women who've been abused and dismissed because of their sex. I want better for my girls but I can't do it on my own. I need a government who will (at least give lip service to) supporting me. Am I a Tory? no. But the last thing women need is to be fighting their own government for basic recognition, so Tory it is.

Prisons, sports, crisis centers, all in my opinion should be biological women only. They are also spaces where someone can specify women only. Where people can be required to specify if they are trans.

There is a women's only spa near me where a transwoman attended. She had a penis and it was a nude spa. I was pretty pissed about that. I found that deeply inappropriate, in fact I'd say illegal due to flashing unsuspecting women.

That said, bathrooms seem to be this issue that gets a lot of attention and I can't understand why.

We are now saying it's ok to harass manly looking women because they might be trans?

I'm on board with men, women's, and unisex.
I don't think Transwomen using the women's bathroom is a huge issue though. I see no evidence it is.

If we can't even tell the difference between men and women sometimes how important is it?

Sports there are biological advantages. Same with prison. Same with crisis centers.

But the bathroom? It's so wishy washy.

In terms of kids I also am against medication.
I will say though the kids I know who identify as trans have mothers who are their biggest cheerleaders to an uncomfortable degree.

My partner has even advised a friend about her girls . He said to just be very blaise about it all. No disagreement, but no huge parade either. They'll eventually figure it out.

I don't think it's simple. I think there are layers.

I can accept some people are trans though. I'm madly in love with my trans partner.

He wouldn't be allowed in the men's bathroom though according to sex, and would be harassed in the women's. That's unacceptable to me.

We are now saying it's ok to harass manly looking women because they might be trans?

er no. But gender ideology isn’t working for you it’s making this more likely

Katie Dolatowski assaulted a 10 year old girl in a bathroom.

It's not. It's pointing out how tricky the practicalities are.

THIS.

The practicalities are an entirely different beast.

I think there are issues that can be resolved. I don't think policing bathrooms are one of them.

We don’t need policing

Just the legal basis for single sex spaces

How do you enforce any law without policing?

Sorry let me rephrase.
I'm not saying things like this never happen.

I've spoken before on here about being a childhood sexual abuse and rape survivor. I'm not ignorant I promise.

If a man wants to rape someone though a sign on the bathroom isn't going to stop them unfortunately. And that isn't specific to Transwomen.

If a man wants to follow someone into the bathroom stall and attack them they will.

Unfortunately there is nothing that will stop that. Nothing.

What sort of policy would stop this? Evil people will do this anywhere.

BIossomtoes · 18/04/2024 15:50

How do you enforce any law without policing?

Exactly. There is no way to police this without having people show their parts before entering the bathroom.

It's not a realistic request.

Since you are aware of male violence I’m not sure why you wouldn’t want single sex spaces?

No this is not true

We haven’t always had the GRA. Most people are law abiding and social contract exists

And if a woman needs assistance she has recourse within the law. I find it mad actually to not want recourse

EasternStandard · 18/04/2024 15:54

Because, as that poster has so eloquently pointed out, nothing will stop a man who wants to assault a woman. No violent man is going to be deterred by single sex spaces.

AccidentallyWesAnderson · 18/04/2024 15:57

This old argument. Of course they are. But if transwomen are accepted into say, bathrooms, no one is able to say, hang on a minute, this person, (especially someone like KD who I've unfortunately met through my line of work and no one should be arguing for KD to be in ANY women's spaces, let me assure you), shouldn't be in here', no challenge allowed. The social contract of men not being allowed into women's spaces is ripped up.

Burglars are going to burgle your house if they want to. Doesn't stop people locking their doors and having ring doorbells. As these are ....... safeguarding measures! A lot of people don't seem to understand these measures, put in place to at least try and prevent something from happening.

This is an insane reason to make them mixed sex

You acknowledge men are the more violent sex class it’s a reason to make spaces single sex not the opposite

AccidentallyWesAnderson · 18/04/2024 16:00

Violent men are going to assault you anyway so just let all men in is the wildest comment I've had the misfortune to read, even for the regular male apologist posters.

What happens if you run a red light? You get prosecuted, no?

Josette77 · 18/04/2024 16:07

I said men who are a threat and Transwomen who are a threat will continue to be a threat.

How do you practically keep them out?

How do you police that?

If you are relying on the goodness of human beings to keep women's bathrooms safe, how is that different from now?

And if that's what you are relying on to keep bad people out, you are relying on bad people to make good decisions.

EasternStandard · 18/04/2024 16:07

Women can still have recourse via the law but it’s different to checking each person which is always the go to from gender ideologists

Since they would be enabled by the law it would be better and there would be more protection not less

Saying that trans women can use the ladies (or trans men can use the gents) is not the same as saying "violent men are going to assault you anyway so just let all men in".

This is why the logical end point is Taliban-esque segregation. Because at some point men and women have to mix. And at that point women are at risk.

It amazes me that despite GC posters regularly saying "this isn't about bathrooms" it always ends up being about bathrooms.

BIossomtoes · 18/04/2024 16:09

Since they would be enabled by the law

Who would be enabled to do what?
