I know what the Tories are and no, I don't like it. But I'm a woman, I have daughters and I come from generations of women who've been abused and dismissed because of their sex. I want better for my girls but I can't do it on my own. I need a government who will (at least give lip service to) supporting me. Am I a Tory? no. But the last thing women need is to be fighting their own government for basic recognition, so Tory it is.

The truth is not rude. I've been assaulted by a man when I was alone with him in a female space. I've had a man follow me into the ladies in an isolated park while I was out running. And I've observed multiple men using the ladies in a services just because it was less of a walk than the gents.

None of those men were trans. They were just men, entering women's toilets because they wanted to.

That’s not rude, it’s factual. And nobody’s defended men using women’s spaces, some of us don’t really worry too much about sharing them with trans women.

Oh we know it's true, we just don't think it's an excuse not to have adequate safeguarding measures in place. The argument minimises it. If my friend decided to get a new alarm system I'm not going to say 'oh but burglars are going to burgle you regardless, and burglars don't bother me anyway when it comes to my house'.

All this has already been explained.

OK. Let's say you stamp your feet enough that the government legislated to say all public toilets are now strictly birth sex only.

Noone is "letting them in". It's a public toilet. People choose where they go. Some trans women have always used the ladies, they aren't going to stop because the government tells them to. And some men have always assaulted women in public toilets- they are even less likely to care about the law given they are there to commit a crime in the first place.

I want to keep women's spaces safe and after reading all this info I will look into the Labour party's policies as I was wondering whether to vote for them but now you have me thinking.
