Why are they so bloody lovely? We don’t deserve them do we? Loyalty like no other. Always happy to see you. People are great but dogs just go above and beyond.

That's just prompted me to post another picture of my absolutely scary dog. He's always on a lead and I'm buggered if I'm walking him on a road to give someone two metres of space.

Cujo!

I 'accidentally' adopted a dog last year after her owner died. She is the addition to our family that we didn't know we needed. I'd always wanted my own dog again one day (grew up with labs and collies) but I'd always wanted a male dog, puppy to train from beginning, medium to large size, short hair for minimal grooming, able to go on nice long walks along the coast.....
We've ended up with a female, un spayed, Yorkshire terrier cross Shi Tzu, 11 years old and very stubborn. She wasn't house broken and was incredibly scared of everything but over the last 6 months she's absolutely blossomed.
She's now accident free, a complete cuddle bug, and when we got her, she couldn't walk from one side of a small park to the other without becoming breathless and wheezing. Now, she comes on 'proper' walks around a local nature reserve, plays with the kids on the beach and is 2kg less than at the start!
She actually plays with toys, she is so excited every day to see me when she wakes up. We've basically adopted a cushion with attitude Grin
This last few weeks have been hard, I suffered a pregnancy loss and my little fluffy cuddle magnet hasn't left my side.

I know we've only got a couple of years with our toothless little monster due to her age but I'm so glad we had the opportunity to give her a home when we did as now I wouldn't be without her 💕

Oh but that is scary! Claws on a beautiful leather sofa!
My sofa has been completely ruined by dog (and cat) claws. But what can you do?

(as you can see, the love only runs in one direction between our pets!)

doilooklikeicare · 09/02/2024 09:06

@Rowgtfc72 my dog is scarier than yours!

doilooklikeicare · 09/02/2024 09:08

My dogs not allowed on the sofa @DoggusDomesticus, as you can see GrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrin!

Her elbows are more lethal than her claws, those elbows are sharp!!

Mybeautifuldogs · 09/02/2024 09:10

Here is a couple more of my scary beasts Mavis and Betty.

I sleep with one eye open at night, you can just tell they are waiting for the opportunity to eat me 🤣

These are my babies. They're like marmite due to their looks. People either love them or hate them. Some people automatically assume that they must be aggressive due to their wrinkly faces.
They are however, the softest, sweetest and most cuddly dogs ever.
Cara the brown one, likes nothing more then to be a little spoon and snuggle right into you and the Shelby, the beige one.....well, he's just thick. Completely stupid but absolutely adorable.
They complete our family and we'd all be heartbroken should anything ever happen to them. They really are the best!

My smallest girl is the grumpiest, growliest, arsiest 5 lbs of tiny creature you could ever meet. Absolutely adore her. And absolutely adore my other boy and girl too. Just wish they would poo outside when it's raining.

You think it's OK for a dog to approach or touch a stranger?
It's illegal for dogs to be out of control and cause people to think they'll attack. Random dogs coming up to you is an attack, you have no idea what they will do, often the owner says it's friendly but it's not friendly, trying to touch you and making loud breathing noises attempting to bite you.
If it stays 2 metres away with it's owner OK but people let them bound hundreds of metres away or even out of sight. Terrifying.

And none of the pics are nice, mist are very scary, some look vaguely neutral but still not everyone wants to be touched or stared down by these things.

You think it's OK for a dog to approach or touch a stranger?
No I don't and I didn't say it was.
I asked what law made it illegal. You haven't answered that, just re asserted the original claim to go along with your straw man.

We had a mystery here last night! I've had a stomach bug and plain biscuits have been the only thing I could keep down so I had a packet of Rich Tea sitting beside my seat on the sofa.

I left the room for only a minute or two and when I came back the whole packet had mysteriously jumped over here (the other side of the room), some of them also mysteriously disappearing in that time.

It couldn't be the dog. I mean look at that perfectly innocent face and the body language telling us he had nothing to do with those biscuits despite no one else being in the room.

He doesn't take food without permission when we're around so there really must be a biscuit moving poltergeist in our house. 😁

PinkiOcelot · 09/02/2024 12:34

I’ve never had a dog before until I got Brie in October. She’s 5 and had just been used for breeding so was very nervous of people and going for walks, cars etc. She’s settling down ok now.

She doesn’t care if my hair is a mess or I’m in my pjs all day. She just loves me. My greetings are amazing. Even if I just go to the loo she follows. She’s currently curled up on my knee asleep. I absolutely adore her.

I'd call the police, no other option!

deragod · 09/02/2024 12:51

I am properly scared by all your doggies. <3

Can't have my own dog atm but I like to thing that all the dogs in a family are shared. :D
And yes, I might be known locally as this mad one who doesn't mind being approached and actually is happy to be 'attacked'.
All girls and boys in our park are well behaved and they put the ball in front of me waiting. if you are not interested just don't pick it up.

PS
please, do not stop. we want more pictures!

This has made me so happy on such a miserable day, give her a little cuddle from me. I love a Yorkie!

An old photo of my mutt but one of my favourites of him. I appreciate he looks rather fierce so apologies to anyone that finds him unsettling.

@Tarkan that is the most innocent of all the faces there have ever been 🤣

Maybe call a priest over to to do an exorcism, stop the biscuit stealing ghost from trying to frame your poor, clearly innocent, doggy.

Boomboom22 · 09/02/2024 13:16

This thread just proves how selfish and nasty many many dog owners are. Taking the piss, letting them approach people, with literally no shits given. So so horrible to see this attitude. No wonder it's not safe to go through a park or for a run these days.

TheDowdyQueen · 09/02/2024 13:21

I genuinely now cannot tell. Real or satire?

Mybeautifuldogs · 09/02/2024 13:25

@Boomboom22 for someone who hates dogs so much you seem to spend a large portion of your time on MN seeking out dog threads to talk about them.

Do you secretly love them and one rejected you?

Mybeautifuldogs · 09/02/2024 13:26

TheDowdyQueen · 09/02/2024 13:21

Do an advanced search I wasn't sure either until I put in the username and the word dog 🤣 there's a lot to unpack.

MadisonAvenue · 09/02/2024 13:32

It’s 12 years today since our boy came to live with us as an 8 week old puppy from Dogs Trust. I’d never had a dog before and had no idea how much joy they bring. I’d almost said no to having a dog when our sons started pestering for one because I knew everything would be left to me, and it is but I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Our boy has been diabetic for two years, lost his sight shortly after diagnosis due to diabetes related cataracts and we honestly thought we’d lose him as he sunk into a depression but he had cataract surgery and was soon back to his normal lively and happy self.
