Why are they so bloody lovely? We don’t deserve them do we? Loyalty like no other. Always happy to see you. People are great but dogs just go above and beyond.

I don't see any owners saying they let their dogs run riot and speak approach people unwanted. It's just a group of people sharing pics of their lovely dogs and saying how much we love them. But God forbid we have a bit of joy in our lives in case we offend some crazy dog hater 🙄

WTF are you on about? Where on this thread has anyone said they let their dogs make unwanted approaches to people, or that they think it's OK?

My grumpy girl just read the dog hating posts. She's planning a pavement poo.

Here's my 13 year old boy with his friend and just relaxing (rather unusually not snuggled up to me on the sofa)

Haha very funny. Just cruel. And at least 3 have either said they let them at people or that they are happy for strange dogs to run at them. The whole thread is normalising it.
I don't find it very funny that dangerous animals are not properly trained and cared for so all can be safe. Quire a few people have died this year by dog attacks so I really don't see why it is funny to find animals that can and do bite scary. They really are. And you lot do not care about those who don't like dogs. Some regular posters say things like they prefer them to children. Serious issues.

to take the chip off your shoulders I will clarify to say that most of my interactions with strange dogs go like that: dog runs to me; owner calls it back; I shout it is fine; owner says something like are you sure and I say yes; we have a small talk.

Although there are few dogs who want me to play with them and initiate it by putting the ball in front of me. Owners always say sorry, don't mind my dog. I say oh, I don't mind.

I had few interactions I did not want but to be honest I had similar with small children i.e. once a puppy smeared mud all over me in a tiny alley, once a child bumped into me (form the back) on their scooter. I was not happy both times but I am still alive. There are places where you just have to expect dogs. I mean, ffs, parks are for dogs.

Parks are for humans to walk in and for children! They have never been for dogs, which should always be under close control so humans can enjoy the spaces they have built.
And small children do not lick or touch people, or usually approach people. It just doesn't happen. Parents tend to look after their kids.

Bloody hell @Boomboom22. It’s a dog appreciation thread ffs, if you don’t like dogs then there are many other threads you could read and comment on. I don’t have the slightest interest in children so I don’t plonk myself on threads about kids and spout on about the fact. Here’s another picture of a killer dog for you. Going to ask the obvious question but why on earth are you doing on a thread called dog appreciation if you don't like dogs?!?

Parks and beaches are for me to exercise my dog, along with forests and woods. HTH!

My dog has never approached anyone. We have a park where they can go off lead, so he does. Suck it up

And another poster purposefully coming on to a thread about appreciation of dogs to do the exact opposite and moan about them. Can't think what you even get out of it

Same. My dog has no interest in people in the park whatsoever. She usually has her head down and is checking/responding to her peemails.

But PP (and a few others whose names come up on dog threads) will have you believe -

• their local streets are more dog shit than concrete
• their small kids get bowled over like skittles by dogs every time they leave the house
• the local John Lewis is heaving with dogs fighting and pissing over everything
• they can't go for a jog/run without a dog chasing them
• all dogs simply find their crotch irresistible and can't leave it alone
• there is not a single cafe or pub where they live that don't allow dogs
• all dog owners struggle with human relationships, and that is why they have a dog
• dog owners hate children, and would always pick their dog in impossible hypothetical situations where their dog is with an unaccompanied child in a building on fire... and that they are terrible people for doing so
• a dog that shows it is uncomfortable with a situation is clearly aggressive and should be PTS
• dog owners who use the term "fur baby" are a danger to humankind
• responsible dog owners don't exist because they are destroying the planet by having a dog

I could go on. We could have a dog hater bingo card.

Here are my two ferocious beasts, Salt-n-Pepa. I had to stop them from mauling strangers to get them to pose for this picture. They are my absolute joy in life, no matter how bad things get, they are there to kiss and snuggle with me. And in return, I make them a second breakfast every day of peanut butter on toast ❤️

Why are there so many dog poo bins in my local park then? There are even a couple of places where free poo bags are provided. My whole family, including our children and the dog, enjoyed the park - there's a play area, skate park, football pitch, boules court, adult gym and dog walking areas.
