Why are they so bloody lovely? We don’t deserve them do we? Loyalty like no other. Always happy to see you. People are great but dogs just go above and beyond.

You think they’re great but I don’t. I don’t want them running towards me, barking at me or sniffing around me. Keep them on a close lead when you’re out with them.

Oh fuck off, the title is clear but you had to be negative - congratulations you’ve made yourself look stupid.

My dogs are incredible, we spend so much time together and go for 2 huge walks every day where they chase around after each other like a pair of idiots. They’re always doing silly things to make me laugh and they can’t get close enough to me on the sofa often laying each side of me and gazing adoringly at me getting tummy rubs.

They are the absolute best thing in my life and DH knows it 😆

Then why the fuck did you click on a dog APPRECIATION thread?

God’s / evolution’s (delete according to your belief) greatest achievement. My fluffy little twat makes every single day better. He’s my fourth dog, when the last one went I vowed to have a year off. Three months later he was ensconced on the sofa.

I have a fluffy little twat too 😍

My dogs have literally saved both mine & my daughter's lives.

2 of them are now old, so extra special to me as I'm painfully aware our time together is coming to an end.

AlizeeEasy · 07/02/2024 08:14

This is my scruffy ball of joy. Lots of my neighbours have commented that she’s the happiest dog they’ve ever met, she just loves everyone and is so excited to meet new people (of course I only allow her near people who want to meet her)

I love dogs but my lifestyle doesn't allow for me to actually own one, so to counter the nasty post earlier in the thread I feel I need to say that I LOVE it when other people's dogs run up to me and say hello when I'm out and about. They're all the best boys and girls.

Levriers · 07/02/2024 08:23

My dog has saved me from loneliness and given a purpose to my life. I don’t mean to sound dramatic but I have no close family anymore so he’s a reason to get out & about - and get cuddles

Wellhellooooodear · 07/02/2024 08:28

I love dogs. I've never had one but planning on getting one in the future. I just love their sheer enthusiasm for everything!

Me too. I love saying hello to dogs.

Me too! We have moved from a city to the seaside and one of the best things is meeting so many lovely dogs on my daily walk. I’m always a bit sad when people steer their dogs away from me but I suppose they can’t tell who is a dog lover and who isn’t.

Rowgtfc72 · 07/02/2024 08:42

Got dh a sausage dog last year as he's always wanted a puppy. Unfortunately he's a velcro dog and has chosen me. Think dh is secretly a bit gutted. I'm not.

My nobhead, happiest dog I have ever had, loves everyone. Just wants to play chase

SidekickSylvia · 07/02/2024 08:52

Lovely thread, op. I have a chocolate spaniel, who was surprisingly easy to train and he is so adorable that I can't imagine life without him. He loves everyone and is just so happy all the time.

Ffs. You did read the title of the post? HmmThere are a million dog hating threads on here, go join the other misery guts and leave us to our fabulous companions.

This boy is the love of all our lives. Children have left home but he squeals with delight if they come for a visit.

I think a big reason why dogs are so wonderful is that they are so... well... simple. Eaten well? Burst of joy. Your humans give you attention? Eruption of joy. Not feeling so good? Find your human, they know how to help. They accept and love us, no matter what. The bond with "your" dog is just something incredibly special.

My dog reminds me that sometimes it's just so worth it to stop and watch the birds in the sky, or enjoy the warm breeze, or be excited about the rain. He slows down my busy life and I don't know how I would get to relax without him.

OrlandointheWilderness · 07/02/2024 09:15

Ohh they are just amazing, the best thing about life!
Mine are amazing. We have a 9 year old lab who is bloody thick and a bit of a crap gundog (his main job 😂) but just loves us so much, and my 2 year old sprocker spaniel who is the most intelligent dog I've ever met. He's absolutely fab working, however he is a sensitive, slightly strange fellow who is prone to mood swings 😂. And he has a sock and slippers addiction. Bloody love them.

Oh and mine are very good boys who would never run up to someone and bark/ sniff. They sit politely by my side and wait for people to pass.

I want a dog so bad. When I retire properly...meanwhile I want to say hello to every dog I see. I'm sure somebody's going to punch me one day for being too friendly to their dog.
Has everyone seen this? Hope's story from Twitter. So lovely.

Fate? Look what I found by the side of a country lane today, it took me half an hour to coax her into my car, she was starving & abandoned, RSPCA, no help, Council, no help, Blue Cross, no help, took her to vets, microchipped, owner contacted, no interest, she has found love now

Fabulous thread! Especially so soon after the poor 'Bully XL' thread.
I love mine with all my heart over the years. They have given me more than I can ever give back. Sweetest hearts.

Tarkan · 07/02/2024 09:22

Here is my silly doughnut who loves after dinner cuddles.

I've added a pic of the other two because it would be rude not to. They're proper little characters too, they're getting on now though and we're so worried about how little time we may have left with them.

I always wanted a dog, but never found myself in the right circumstances until fairly recently.

Now I have these two beauties, who I absolutely adore.

I LOVE dogs, I would rather be in a room full of dogs than people.

My little dog is the sweetest thing in the world. She was born deaf and her first owners didn't want her, so she came to live with me (they were friends of a friend) and she's my best buddy.
She's learnt signs, she's such a clever little girl and she loves everyone.

Missingmyusername · 07/02/2024 09:33

Absolutely adore them.
Volunteer at a rescue when I can, donate as often as possible.

The reason I get any exercise! Such good company.

I wish there was a far heavier human punishment for abusing animals and bad breeding.
