Why are they so bloody lovely? We don’t deserve them do we? Loyalty like no other. Always happy to see you. People are great but dogs just go above and beyond.

Harley would like you to know that she is the goodest of good girls 😍she is mummy's best friend and no body minds when she steals empty toilet roll tubes and shreds them 😄

All the dog pics are lovely! Thank you for posting them. Extra glee on seeing some whippets!

This is my Sister's whippet who I adore.

@thenewaveragebear1983 ive got a Maggie too. It’s such a cute name for a dog.
Dogs are better than people imo. She’s always pleased to see me, cheers me up when I’m down, forces me to get fresh air and exercise, and helps me get to know people as she always wants to make friends. She loves playing bubbles which amuses the children in our local park and when we do this are always surrounded by kids wanting to play with her and she loves it!

Spidey66 · 07/02/2024 14:05

I tried to add a pic but the ones on my phone are too big and I don’t know how to make them smaller 🤔

Spidey66 · 07/02/2024 14:06

Maggie!

Dont know how the photo got like that but it did!

What a lovely thread so heartwarming! Thanks all for the pics of your lovely dogs it makes my day 😁

Waspie · 07/02/2024 14:22

@Runssometimes I'm sorry for your loss Flowers

I think borrowing a dog is a lovely idea. My friend lost his 14 year old chocolate lab a few months back and occasionally asks for our yellow lab to visit him - not me and DP mind, just the dog Grin

@HarleysMum21 oooooohhhh she is gorgeous! Have a real soft spot for them. Would love one but DH not so keen. Total soft babies.

Thanks! She's the actual love of my life!!

They get such a bad rep, but raised properly and trained well, they are the best dogs

She's such a doofus

Tell DH he's missing out

daliesque · 07/02/2024 15:33

Sadly he’s going blind as he’s been diagnosed with glaucoma (only 6) so it’s heartbreaking but we will take care of him.

Mine lost an eye due to glaucoma but had adapted well. Dogs are so amazing at just shrugging things off and being resilient. They are simply the best.
My boy seems to know when I've just a patient and those nights he cuddles in a little closer.
They are joy personified.

My nobhead, happiest dog I have ever had, loves everyone. Just wants to play chase

Oh I love EBT's and yours is gorgeous ❤

DoggusDomesticus · 07/02/2024 15:47

I never used to like dogs but got one on my DDs insistence. Oh my! What a difference he has made to everyone. We're always out walking in the countryside and on the beach. He's a big doof and so affectionate. I think I'll always have a dog now.
Here he is: I wouldn't say he was particularly clever, but as you can see he is incredibly handsome.

I think a big reason why dogs are so wonderful is that they are so... well... simple. Eaten well? Burst of joy. Your humans give you attention? Eruption of joy. Not feeling so good? Find your human, they know how to help. They accept and love us, no matter what. The bond with "your" dog is just something incredibly special.

My dog reminds me that sometimes it's just so worth it to stop and watch the birds in the sky, or enjoy the warm breeze, or be excited about the rain. He slows down my busy life and I don't know how I would get to relax without him.

Love this, they're so simple in their thinking but reliant on us to make all the good things in life happen for them ❤

LuvMyBoyz · 07/02/2024 06:12

You think they’re great but I don’t. I don’t want them running towards me, barking at me or sniffing around me. Keep them on a close lead when you’re out with them.

Why are you on a dog appreciation post then? Be gone....

I love English Bull Terriers, one of my favourites since The Incredible Journey film.

Mumofyellows · 07/02/2024 16:01

I have two beautiful yellow Labradors, one who we bought as a pup and a second which we rescued when younger one was 11 months old. We absolutely adore them! They are my best friends and I love every minute I spend with them. Dogs are amazing creatures ❤️

VeterinaryCareAssistant · 07/02/2024 16:04

Missingmyusername · 07/02/2024 09:33

Absolutely adore them.
Volunteer at a rescue when I can, donate as often as possible.

The reason I get any exercise! Such good company.

I wish there was a far heavier human punishment for abusing animals and bad breeding.

Good on you for volunteering ❤️

Runssometimes · 07/02/2024 16:10

Thank you @Waspie I’m not ready for another dog of our own yet but happy to keep another one company so everyone wins.

Coffeeandacatchup · 07/02/2024 16:19

Thank you for this thread. I love dogs. I like dogs more than I like people! I have 2 of my own but totally appreciate every dog and want to pet them all.

Louloulouenna · 07/02/2024 16:24

Such a happy thread, dogs bring so much happiness, our children gained so much from growing up alongside them. A lifelong love of being outdoors and of course the responsibility of looking after another creature.

mimbleandlittlemy · 07/02/2024 16:42

Mimbledog pretending to be a Highland cow. The weird black thing appearing to come out of his head is actually the cat!

I agree, a lovely happy thread.

My old boy is 12 now and I'm dreading the day he goes. For now though he still enjoys walks and is so loved.

I've heard people say "if only they could talk". Well, they don't need to! I know what he wants ( mostly), what he likes and doesn't and he lets me know if something is wrong.

It him and me against the world 🥰

I love dogs, and love threads like these. Always (mostly) full of happy posts and pics of dogs.

Here is my greyhound. She is 13 and a half. I have had her from a pup (greyhound puppies are nightmares!).
