Why are they so bloody lovely? We don’t deserve them do we? Loyalty like no other. Always happy to see you. People are great but dogs just go above and beyond.

My neighbour has a really cute little dachshund. He is so friendly and chatty. I love him (the dog, not the neighbour 😁!)

Some very touching posts on here 💕 lovely to read and see the photos of all the doggos! ☺️

Everybody says that they have the best dog and no one is wrong.

I adore my rescue dog, she is now a therapy dog as her love is too big not to share!

Her brother is a bit more of a twat but we love him!

I got my dog for my teen daughter who begged for a dog since she was small. The first year we had him it wasn't easy and yes I regretted it. After 2 years I would not be without him.
I love him greeting me so enthusiastically when I get in from work. He waits for me looking out of the window at just the right time and then goes nuts with excitement to see me
I enjoy getting out and walking him every day. I've never been a morning person but I have started to enjoy being out in the early morning. Like an earlier poster said the dog helps you appreciate the little details in nature.
He isn't the world's most cuddly dog but he likes you to sit next to him, then he puts his head in your lap and rolls over for a tummy rub whilst making a sweet whiffling noise
He is super fluffy and it's very comforting to bury your head in his fur. I love the biscuity smell of his ears and his paws too.
He makes us all laugh with his silly antics too. He is quite a 'talky' dog and will fix you with his big eyes and hold a conversation when he wants something.

Humanity doesn't deserve dogs. They are wonderful. Just think of everything they do for us - guide dogs, hearing dogs for the blind, drug sniffer dogs, mountain rescue dogs, cadaver dogs, dogs who can predict seizures in order that their owner can get themselves into a space place before they occur, working dogs, dogs who can smell certain illnesses, including cancers. They are bloody awesome. Even bog standard dogs (like my gorgeous girl) provide love, company and stress relief to their humans.

Photos of my gorgeous girl as a pup and now as a mature 10 year old.

Why should I not comment on a dog appreciation post? Dog lovers always comment when there are posts about incidents where dogs haven’t been under proper control of their owners. I’m fed up of dog appreciators whose dogs scare me.

I always wanted a dog, but never found myself in the right circumstances until fairly recently.

Now I have these two beauties, who I absolutely adore.

I LOVE dogs, I would rather be in a room full of dogs than people.

Is... one dog's head the size of the entire other dog?!

Runssometimes · 07/02/2024 11:10

they are the best. We had to say goodbye to our black lab two months ago after 13 years together, we never intended to have him but he came bounding into our lives as a totally lunatic 1 year old that we agreed to look after for six weeks only. I miss him so much and have been utterly miserable. Barely go outside any more. So today we borrowed this guy. I’ve been outside twice already, he doesn’t know me at all, but is currently laying beside me while I work and I feel happy and light again. The very best of creatures. We don’t deserve them.

Dog sense good and bad people 🤷‍♀️

MrsSkylerWhite · 07/02/2024 11:16

Husband who never wanted a dog still misses her 3 years after we lost her.

I prefer cats …… I’ll get my coat 😁

Ohyoudodoyou · 07/02/2024 11:16

I've been in hospital - I came home, lay in the sofa and our boy climbed next to me. Everyone was out, and I finally had a moment of peace and calm. My boy lay on my shoulder looking at me and sighing the deepest sigh knowing he was comforting me. We're all they have and they reward us so wonderfully.

True. Dog lovers always comment on ‘dog hater’ threads, so why not the other way round?!!

And what is annoying is that the ‘dog hating’ threads are people just not wanting strange dogs to come up to them, jump at them, lick their food in cafe etc. Yet on Mumsnet that qualifies as ‘dog hating’ 🤷🏼‍♀️

mimbleandlittlemy · 07/02/2024 11:21

Had always been a cat lover, then The Dog arrived in 2019 and I never knew how much love they both give and receive and how they change lives. He is the absolute joy of our house, was a total boon during lockdown and the whole A level debacle for ds who was really struggling, and when my mum died, and is now my constant companion as ds away at uni abroad. We also have two cats who are lovely but The Dog is just a wonder.

Ok

But just so you know my dog is gorgeous!

Loving the names Mavis and Betty 😂

We have two pet labs, a black and a golden, one is 6 and an amazing dog, the other is 18 months and an utter twat but we love them dearly for all their little quirks. DH has two Belgian Shepherd Malis but they’re working dogs, equally wonderful but definitely not pets though I do like a cuddle at them from time to time. I couldn’t be without a dog, I’ve had them all my life and each of them was special in their own ways 🥰

BeadedBubbles · 07/02/2024 11:27

I love dogs SO much. I can't imagine life without them. They all have such fabulous personalities and individual traits.

I wish there was more robust legislation and severe penalties to prevent animal cruelty and neglect.

Love dogs. My old man

I love dogs but my lifestyle doesn't allow for me to actually own one, so to counter the nasty post earlier in the thread I feel I need to say that I LOVE it when other people's dogs run up to me and say hello when I'm out and about. They're all the best boys and girls.

Me too! I regularly have to add at least half an hour on to my day to allow for stopping to greet every dog I meet and chat to their lovely owners who kindly allow me to get dog hugs Grin

We have actually decided that after talking about since DD was born (she's 15 now) and trying to get a rescue but not being successful we are going to start researching breeds and breeders and possibly get a puppy this year. We've wanted to do this for so long I'm over the moon it could happen, almost as much as I was when we decided to try for a baby! DD burst into happy tears at the weekend when we told her Grin

Loving all these adorable pics too!

The yellow peril!

Ultimately the best boy, took a hell of a lot of training though!

’Therapy’ dog- has been into hospitals and nursing homes spreading hair and love- consultants idea not mine by the way!

Checking in with another fluffy little twat. He makes me smile every day.

This picture, with a glass of red in the background can literally be titled "Happiness " Grin

Absolutely adore them.
Volunteer at a rescue when I can, donate as often as possible.

The reason I get any exercise! Such good company.

I wish there was a far heavier human punishment for abusing animals and bad breeding.

Agree with you - and look at his sweet face!

Ylvamoon · 07/02/2024 11:33

My boy masterd the (agility) seesaw yesterday!
My trainer just said let's work a bit on the seesaw- as we've done a few times before. So I filled her in what we done last time... meanwhile he just walked to the tipping point and did it all by himself!
Such a clever boy!

WiddlinDiddlin · 07/02/2024 11:34

I hugely appreciate the goodness of the WiddlinDiddlinDogs 1, 2 and even 3... they have been the goodest boys and girl for the last month, with builders every day, making weird loud noises, tramping in and out, constant noise of doors shutting... and the borking/boofing/trumpeting and woodling from my dogs has been pretty much zero, certainly nothing above the norm...

I really thought with strange blokes all around the house they would struggle, we would have barking and stress every day as they are absolutely not used to people in and out of the house, nor to the noises of building.

Right now, someones in the kitchen hammering, two people are in the back yard building a ramp and they can be seen out of the patio doors... and three dogs are curled up asleep, though one has a slightly peevish face as the radiator she's lying next to is not on (no point with the doors open!).

So hurrah for the dogs, they tolerate so very much, they ask very little in return really, and they give such a lot. Beefy tripey sticks all round when they wake up from their nap I think!
