Why are they so bloody lovely? We don’t deserve them do we? Loyalty like no other. Always happy to see you. People are great but dogs just go above and beyond.

My mum has an ex-racer. All the comfy beds in the house, and he chooses an Ikea bag 😆

I love dogs, and love threads like these. Always (mostly) full of happy posts and pics of dogs.

Here is my greyhound. She is 13 and a half. I have had her from a pup (greyhound puppies are nightmares!).

I love greyhounds, such sweethearts. And all puppies are nightmares, especially during the puberty... My pup is almost 8 months old now and a proper twat with buzzing hormones and everything, but I still love him (and keep repeating to myself that it doesn't last forever).

Here's a pic for the jury

Have to share another photo of my girl, Mimi. Finally showing the cat who is boss, it’s her bed after all!

Not feeling so good? Find your human, they know how to help. They accept and love us, no matter what. The bond with "your" dog is just something incredibly special.
Our dog isn't allowed on the furniture or beds. Despite being Labrador sized and not weedy looking, he is frightened of fireworks (he's an adult rescue so we don't know any of his history).

One night I awoke to find the dog standing by my bed nudging me gently with his nose. There was an almighty thunderstorm going on and he'd become frightened and came to check with me that we were going to be OK. I told him he was fine and he lay down by the bed (he doesn't normally sleep in the bedroom). That was pretty touching.

I live alone. Several days can go by without me speaking to anyone or even seeing anyone (I live very rurally). Life would be immeasurably lonely if it weren't for my quite ghastly terrier. I adore every inch of her little whiskery body and she adores me - unfortunately she won't allow me to have any other pets, but I can cope with that.

She makes me get out of the house on days when I probably wouldn't even get out of bed, and I've taken up running in order to make sure she gets the miles in. Every day I kiss her little nose and think how much better my life is because she is in it.

So lovely to see the appreciation and the gorgeous pictures. We all really do have the world’s best dogs.
My 2, especially the male, are just the most empathetic things, they know exactly who needs a cuddle ( and who is best left alone)
Puctures so you can all admire them 😁

I have two girls. A 14 year old and a one year old. The 14 year old read the manual in how to be the best dog. She was quiet, calm, protective of my children but still loved to chase a ball. She properly smiles when she’s happy. Her sight has gone, her legs are going, and I know we’re on borrowed time. My heart is already breaking.
My one year old is a cuddle monster and will come and stand under my feet and bark until she gets her cuddles. She’s fantastic. When you talk to her her head goes round like an owl as she listens. Two photos of each, and one of them together.

My dog. I bought him seven months after my husband was killed and a month after I was told I was all clear from suspected endometrial cancer.
He is three quarters standard poodle and one quarter golden retriever. He is my shadow and makes life worth living.

I never wanted a dog because I was heartbroken when my cat died and I didn't want that kind of pain again. My daughter begged for 7 years and I finally caved in and we got Doris (black frenchie ) god I love this dog beyond measure and when my mum passed away suddenly she was the thing that got me up in the morning , made me smile , if only for awhile and was always there for comfort as the bottom of my world fell out in losing my beloved mum. 5 months later just before her 3rd birthday , she had a heart attack and died in my arms. The sense of grief was overwhelming and I couldn't comprehend how life could be so very cruel. The thought of another dog was too much but then we saw two frenchies in need of new homes and it felt right , they will never replace my beautiful girl but the fact they needed to be rescued helps with the guilt somewhat. Daphne and delsey help to keep me going each day and we have a mutual love for each other. Dogs are amazing and they have been a life saver for me x

I was desperate for a dog all the way through my childhood but there was no way my parents would have got one. I was in my forties before I was finally in a position to get my own dog. I am living the dream!

Does everyone know about We Rate Dogs?
Their 'tell your dog I said hi' merch raises funds for vet fees for dogs in shelters, and they share lovely photos and video clips that get sent in, often funny.

I love saying hi to other people's dogs.

Me too. I love saying hello to dogs.

Please do not encourage these people to do illegal things like let their dogs run up to strangers.

Noone sane wants that and they might get kicked or worse. Keep your dog to yourself, no they are not friendly, not cute and not clean.

Yes they are just the best thing ever! Here’s my boy with the Monday blues after 2 big beach walks at the weekend 🥰.

@babybythesea You youngest rough looks very like mine - ours was bred in Devon. We went on a collie meet up last week in Kent - loads of roughs bumbling around. Twas fun.

Mine greets me like I have been away for years and when I come in from work she says hewooooooooo to me and makes s big noise. She is so huggy but rather aloof with others not in her immediate pack.

Vroomfondleswaistcoat · 07/02/2024 19:11

Oh I love seeing all the pictures of other people's Best Dogs! Makes me smile!

Lentilweaver · 07/02/2024 19:17

I really want a dog. But my lifestyle doesn't permit one. Been contemplating volunteering to dogwalk this summer.

Enjoying these pix! They are just the best.

Tarkan · 07/02/2024 19:32

I don't know how many photos I can post per day so hopefully these goofy ones of my boys will show.

@Boomboom22 What a miserable response. It’s perfectly acceptable to approach a dog if you asked the owner first. My dog loves having a fuss made of her. 😊

PigsEnigma · 07/02/2024 19:38

Our DDog is just the best. She's our fourth of the same breed, she's just perfection. When we got her we went to kennels for another dog, a boy. We only wanted a boy. But they showed us this terrified girly, we had the experience, we had the time and we said what the heck and took her on. She is the most loving, loyal, calm, patient dog and also loves her garden crazies. She's just doggy perfection. She's been worth every second we spent helping her overcome her fear of the entire world. I just wish she'd stop burying her bloody marrow bone under out pillow!!

dicdicnurse · 07/02/2024 19:39

I never thought I would be posting on a thread like this but over Christmas things all came together and we welcomed our handsome Ralphie in to our family.
We are besotted! I've never known love like it 😂
The kids are falling over themselves to help look after him and DH has found a bestie.
Early days for us as dog parents but so far so good.

Had a crap day at work today but greeted by Des the dog as if he hadn’t seen me in a year. He’s now acting as my personal footwarmer…. After cheering me up by making me chase him round with his toy elephant. He’s honestly the best thing that I have ever had …don’t tell my husband or kids!

My dog is cleaner than a lot of the public I come into contact with.. and also a lot cuter and more friendly
