To think I'm about to get very sick

ohnowhatdidido · 25/01/2024 15:45

I just ate one week old cooked lobster. It was in the fridge the entire time. And I looked at it and it looked fine. And it smelt completely fine. After about 10 mouthfuls I noticed green specks everywhere.

This was only 5 minutes ago. I'm probably about to be very very sick aren't I? To make matters worse DH and I had a raging argument just an hour ago, so he'll probably be quite pleased that I'm going to be spewing and shitting my insides out.

So do it. Divorce him to save your child from having an unhappy life. It's not rocket science.

Rainbowshit · 25/01/2024 16:29

Are you sure the green flecks were not tomalley rather than mould?

That's what i thought. Unlikely something stored in the fridge has gone mouldy that quickly if cooked properly and refrigerated quickly

CakedUpHigh · 25/01/2024 20:19

If it was off it would smell of ammonia way before it would turn green.

Strangermanger · 25/01/2024 20:50

Are you saying your husband hates you? That’s the bigger issue

Doesn't coca cola neutralise stomach bugs? quick, someone tell the NHS! This was a joke wasn’t it @Lalgarh

He wants to stay together as he didn't want our DC to have a broken family. I have said I would rather we all be happy and right now him and I are miserable and our poor DC will resent us for this life and also be unhappy. I would like counselling but he is not keen. We've been married 4 years, DC is nearly 1. I don't have the energy anymore for him. I do not see us making it sadly but ultimately it is for the best. He is a doting dad and I have no plans to make it a tricky divorce.

OP there is a support thread for women with autistic partners on the Relationship forum if you need support -

Thank you very much for this.

Still no symptoms on the lobster front

Vomiting type food poisoning is usually within 7 hours so if you're okay for another hour or so, I think you will probably be fine on that front. But you might still get diarrhoea within the next day or so.

DontLeanOnTheKeyboard · 25/01/2024 21:43

My husband is from a country where food is not wasted. We eat lots of things that would usually get thrown away. We’re fine, all of the time.

Bet you’re not ill.

EarthSight · 25/01/2024 22:04

There's no point worrying about it. Just make sure you stay hydrated. If you start feeling sick, it doesn't mean it will turn into full blown food poisoning. You could be lucky and have a bad stomach for a day with some throwing up.

slithytoveisascientist · 25/01/2024 22:09

@ohnowhatdidido better for a child to be from a broken family than in a broken family

3luckystars · 25/01/2024 22:21

I have a feeling you are going to be fine!

And bleach!

Jenda · 25/01/2024 15:55

I would make myself sick to try and stop too much of it being digested

This. Just be no it up now, stop posting and get to loo

SoSo99 · 25/01/2024 22:30

Just wanted to say that my husband really trusts his senses when eating out-of-date food, and eats stuff that is way way past it's use by date if he knows it's been chilled and smells/looks OK. He's never had food poisoning and he'd DEFINTITELY have eaten the lobster. Hope you are OK

ChedderGorgeous · 25/01/2024 22:39

As the kids would sing "dumb ways to die.."

LegoDeathTrap · 25/01/2024 16:23

I’d make myself vomit right now.

How did you not know it was a week old?? Do you have multiple lobsters lounging around in the fridge??

Lounging lobster 🤣

I think my husband is autistic and I'm far too much of an emotional person. We are absolutely hideous together. I know this isn't what the thread is about but I just wanted to say it out loud.

And my poor baby DC was crying just now while we were in arguing mode and I said sorry she has parents like us who just can't get along. I feel like we should divorce for her sake if not ours.

Edited

Ah, I’m sorry to hear this. I can relate to a lot of this!!! My husband is also autistic - diagnosed after our 2 year old was born, so really late diagnosis!!

I am waiting for adhd diagnosis…
can also relate to your ‘very emotional’ description.

sorry, no good suggestions from me other than; take care of yourself.

Calliopespa · 25/01/2024 22:44

redxlondon · 25/01/2024 22:25

And bleach!

Just to be safe, that was a joke OP. Don’t take bleach…

HungryandIknowit · 25/01/2024 22:47

If you're still ok you'll probably be alright now. Good luck!

AHFaemale · 25/01/2024 22:51

I thought OP was saying she was hallucinating seeing green (was getting light headed). Am I wrong. Was the lobster actually green?

coloursquare · 25/01/2024 22:54

I'd have a whiskey

Seems like a pretty stupid thing to do, eating a shellfish after 2 days is an absolute no no. Why didn’t you bin it?

WyrdyGrob · 25/01/2024 23:15

A couple of hours later I’m on the bathroom floor of the hotel throwing up whilst explosive diarrhoea shot out the other end. The bathroom was a right mess, I was on that floor all night. Didn’t dare let the maids in the next morning as the whole room stunk

poor you. I did similar in Singapore.

but more to the point, I’ve also been a chambermaid… you see it all. Though one that does stick out is the coachload of pensioners who must all have had the same thing, and all got a horrific attack of the shits. 14 rooms full of em. Bless them, most had done a valiant effort at cleaning up from a poor aim or not making the loo in time… but the evidence was unmistakable. Used a LOT of bleach that day.

Reminds me of Billy Connolly talking about a recipe by some Duchess which said "a good use for that left-over venison".

I have left over venison in the fridge.
