To think I'm about to get very sick

I just ate one week old cooked lobster. It was in the fridge the entire time. And I looked at it and it looked fine. And it smelt completely fine. After about 10 mouthfuls I noticed green specks everywhere.

This was only 5 minutes ago. I'm probably about to be very very sick aren't I? To make matters worse DH and I had a raging argument just an hour ago, so he'll probably be quite pleased that I'm going to be spewing and shitting my insides out.

@ohnowhatdidido no food poisoning yet? How are things with partner?

Things are back to normal with DH. We have pretty awful fights but he wants to patch up very quickly and is generally very fight averse/does not want to confront/address anything and will happily bury things away. I don't want to fight but I do want to address challenges but I think I have an awful approach and get upset and angry quickly and shouting really triggers DH and things escalate from there..

If you haven't got the sht_s yet I reckon you will be fine.

snackatack · 26/01/2024 20:05

Yeah you will be fine - your user name amused me.. I thought it was ..whatdididildo

DoctorTeeCee · 26/01/2024 20:44

You’ll be absolutely fine I’m sure. Everyone is so dramatic on here 🤣

@DeeLusional how unkind. What’s the value in saying this?

Ask the lobster.

Doodleflips · 26/01/2024 21:27

@DeeLusional well I would, but I think she’s digested him by now ;)

Bailey32 · 26/01/2024 21:32

Purging causes heart and liver damage. As well as multiple other problems. It is the worst idea. Naturally vomiting and purging are different. Don’t take that advice OP.

ErinBell01 · 26/01/2024 21:33

Why not vomit it up? It's not like it's some chemical that will cause more problems coming back up? It will only reduce the load on the body that might cause problems..

ErinBell01 · 26/01/2024 21:39

It's likely you're going to be sick anyway. I'd rather be sick with something that is in the same state as it went down without it being half digested and I'm feeling ill.

If I vomit something up willingly then at least I'm in charge - and there's far less likelihood of aspirating food particles which could possibly happen when you have violent vomiting. If I found out that something I'd just eaten was bad I'd bring it back up immediately and probably avoid being ill.

blueshoes · 26/01/2024 21:54

Erinbell, what you advised sounds quite disordered.

SkaneTos · 26/01/2024 22:18

@ohnowhatdidido, I am happy that you are OK!

Like many previous posters have written, usually when food looks and smells fine it's fine.
Do not do what my friend did - he ate bad meat, and got sick, vomited a whole morning. He later said that the meat had smelled bad, but he did not want to waste it...

Lots more in the queue for unspeakable agony, but as long as you enjoyed your little joke.

Letsrunabath · 26/01/2024 22:29

I’m the worst for eating out of date food and cutting mould off of food, but even I would draw a line at week old lobster. Are you wanting to loose a lot of weight quickly?!!!

PickAChew · 26/01/2024 22:31

There seems to be a rash of people posting about eating out of date food, this past day or so.

Isinglass20 · 26/01/2024 23:27

Mint tea or tonic water is good for gyppy stomach.
Agree with advice not to encourage vomiting.
Possibly just a bad case of the trots (diarrhoea )

pollymere · 26/01/2024 23:30

The lobster has green flecks in usually. If it smelt and tasted fine you should probably be ok. Fingers crossed for you... And to make you feel better:

When I was pregnant I bought a hot sausage roll from the coffee shop at work but dropped it on the floor when getting my drink. It was the last one so I picked it up and ate it anyway. I still feel bad and guilty to this day. My DS has made jokes that it's clearly the reason he's trans/gay/has ASD...

Just yesterday DH asked how much a meal box was in a subscription that I wanted to get. I couldn't remember so I said they're comparable to an M&S ready meal as I felt that was more useful than not giving an answer at all but he said he was hoping for an answer with a £ in it.

That's a very tempered response to what comes across as being deliberately evasive - it's how politicians speak when they don't want to admit that something is going to cost £££ (or make ££££££££££££££ for one of their mates in the overpriced ding dinner Market)

not thought about it like that, but you’re right

huge range of marks meals ranging from £3 to upwards of £10 so the Op’s response was indeed very vague. It would have irritated me as presumably he’s asking because he wants to weigh up the cost/benefit

You're completely right. I wasn't being self aware enough to know I'm being vague because I didn't want him to know they weren't the cheapest thing.

OP what do you mean? do you mean you were trying to be evasive because you knew he wouldn’t be happy with the subscription price?

Yes. But, I couldn't recall the exact price myself but remembered it was something that was a little more than we would normally be ok with paying. And so I could have said exactly that.
