Seems most people have done theirs already, we are planning to do it this Sunday.

Lisbeth50 · 01/12/2023 06:37

Definitely not. Ours will go up some point after 15th.

Me too.
Maybe start 13th as I'm off
Take down after new year.

So all the people putting up trees now.
We I'll you take them down 27th December?

TheAverageJoanne · 01/12/2023 06:49

Of course I haven't. It's not even Advent Sunday. I've not opened my advent calendar yet. I still have pumpkins outside! (Autumnal not Halloween decs you understand).

renthead · 01/12/2023 06:55

Growing up, we never put it up until at least a week before and often it was more like the 22nd. I refuse to put ours up until halfway through December, despite my children begging! It will stay up until the 6th, or nearly. The rest of the decorations go up earlier, usually the first weekend of Advent if I'm organised.

Does anyone else think it’s a bit of a class thing?

Wannabegreenfingers · 01/12/2023 06:57

Mines going up on the 8th. Its none of my business when people put up or take down their tree down, but I do get irrationally bothered by those who take it down on boxing day. They are generally the ones that have had it up since November....🙈

Wendyspotatopeeler · 01/12/2023 06:59

We normally put it up the weekend around the 10th and everything down on the 31st. Start NY all nice and clean. The kids have been mithering to put it up all week so we may decorate this weekend.

FuzzyPuffling · 01/12/2023 06:59

It's Advent, the season of preparation for Christmas. Definitely no tree for another 3 weeks.

AuntieMarys · 01/12/2023 06:59

10th this year...usually the 15th.
Comes down before new year

piefacedClique · 01/12/2023 07:00

12 days before and 12 days after for the tree. The room decorations have started to filter out but no one wants a dead crusty tree in january

Thepeopleversuswork · 01/12/2023 07:01

No God no it’s barely December.

Unless you have very small children I can’t see why you’d want it up BEFORE December has started.

We usually do a real one too and if it went up now it would be a skeleton by Christmas.

RafaistheKingofClay · 01/12/2023 07:02

Probably not until the 17th here and then down on 12th night. Various other bits might go out a bit earlier.

Have dug out the advent wreath. Need to find the candles.

Fizbosshoes · 01/12/2023 07:03

I'm guessing we'll probably do ours next weekend (9th/10th)
It just wouldn't occur to me to do it before December

FatOaf · 01/12/2023 07:03

No, it will probably go up on 17 Dec, but possibly not until 21 Dec, depending on how busy I am. However, it will stay up until twelfth night (06 Jan).

Same here!

ohnoreallyagain · 01/12/2023 07:04

Not yet, but we have a lot of birthdays at the end of November, so we always wait until after.

TizerorFizz · 01/12/2023 07:04

When I have time to do it!

My mum (who was a real snob) definitely thought it was a bit common to put the tree up before about the 20th.

(She wouldn’t have said “common” because saying “common” is common, but we all knew it was what she thought.)

I don’t want the tree up early mainly because it’s highly impractical but there’s a bit of a voice in my head too telling me it’s a bit naff to have it up in November. I used to do it when my daughter was small but thinking all the time my mum would be scandalised.

Princessvelour · 01/12/2023 07:06

There's been quite a few trees/Dec's in my area for over a week now.

I'd like to put them up on 15th. Dcs finish school early that day so I thought it would be a nice thing to do that afternoon. DP will insist this weekend. I'll say no. We'll compromise with the 10th as we're seeing father Christmas that day.

GaraMedouar · 01/12/2023 07:07

If it was just me I’d not put one up at all or put it up on or around 23rd - unfortunately my DD is insisting today when she gets home from school - so up in the loft today it is then - artificial tree here.

marshmallowfinder · 01/12/2023 07:08

Most people haven't. Trees and decorations in November is wrong. Next weekend probably.

Fulshaw · 01/12/2023 07:08

Next weekend, 9/10th, feels right to me

Justcallmebebes · 01/12/2023 07:08

Wallingtonhall · 01/12/2023 06:37

No and I won’t until at least 15 December. I’m definitely old school. Feels too early now and I can’t live with it for that long.

This. All the build up to Christmas has gone nowadays. I'm sick of it by the time it gets here. Its a shame because the anticipation of Christmas was the best thing about it

Teenangels · 01/12/2023 07:09

Mine will go up tomorrow in the lounge and the real tree in the snug will go up around the 15th, both will be taken down on New Year's Day.

Peepshowcreepshow · 01/12/2023 07:10

It has only been December for 7 hours.
Mine goes up when I finish school for the holidays and goes down on New Year's Day.
