I wouldn't buy that if it was a fiver. It's just not very nice. People can go in Pep&Co and buy a generic black puffer jacket and it'll look exactly the same. I buy all sorts of branded items on Vinted, I've just got a Napapijri winter coat in excellent condition for £30 quid and the same brand water proof for £20!

DuchessOfSausage · 03/11/2023 12:33

When I go on Vinted I search by brand or for a specific item.
So something like M&S or Puffer Jacket.

I wouldn't be looking for His Column or coat

Some brands sell because people are searching for a brand.
You could add something like 'warm as toast' in the description and maybe it would show up when someone searched for Toast.

Whataretheodds · 03/11/2023 12:35

It looks far more worn than "2 or 3 times".

It's been on for a month at £20 and hasn't sold, that tells you it's priced too high.

Lilq5 · 03/11/2023 12:37

I'm suddenly getting an influx of views on vinted 😂

It would look better modelled with a male model !!

Lilq5 · 03/11/2023 12:37

Can you all 'like' the listing whilst you're here? I think that helps with the algorithm

DP can't get it on as it's far too small. Hanger it is.

Seriously? Who gives a second hand coat as a Christmas present?

People without much money?

Thoughtful people getting something warm and cosy for someone else who hasn’t got much money?

People who disagree strongly with overpriced cheap tat being sold for the cost of a week’s food shop?

People who are environmentally conscious and don’t want to see a perfectly good garment end up in landfill for a thousand years?

Use your imagination, park your snobbery.

Blah12345678999 · 03/11/2023 12:41

I think you need a man to model the coat… If a man was modelling a female coat I probably wouldn’t give it a second look even if it was really nice and even fitted the man…

urbanbuddha · 03/11/2023 12:43

The second photo is better but can be improved.

Open the coat so the quilting doesn’t look off.

Get the angle right. This is important. Hold the camera so the lines in the wood in the background are straight up and down.

Stand straight onto the coat when taking the photo, not off to one side.

Step back from the coat - you’re too close. Then edit the photo to fill the frame and use “auto” to improve the overall look.

Just wondering why there needs to be a nc for this thread, it doesn't seem like a very private thing!

That's not very woke of you in this day and age 😉😂

The seams don't line up, so I wouldn't buy it.

Humanonmumnet · 03/11/2023 12:45

I personally hate it

Thanks. I might remove the first picture completely then. The second two show the length as it's on the longer side.

I underestimated MNers ability and inclination to actually go and find the listing, but I'm glad it's not linked to my usual posts 😬

DuchessOfSausage · 03/11/2023 12:46

If no one is searching for an item, it makes no difference if it's priced high or low, but I'd suggest photographing it on a hanger and dropping it to £12.

Unfortunately 'worn twice' usually means worn many times whilst walking through a hedge backwards.

Can't like it because I don't have a Vinted account but would otherwise

Lentilweaver · 03/11/2023 12:47

Best thread ever.

Blah12345678999 · 03/11/2023 12:48

🤷🏻‍♀️ I’ve no problem if a man wants to wear women’s clothing but if the man wants me to buy them it’s most likely not going to show the clothes in a light that’s relatable to me, and so it’s less likely I’ll look at them as something for me to wear and that I’ll be parting with my money to buy those clothes, hope that’s ok 😉

DuchessOfSausage · 03/11/2023 12:50

I give second hand as Christmas presents. Often something with new tags on.
Something fab pre-loved vs something crap for someone to exchange at their local primark- no contest.

urbanbuddha · 03/11/2023 12:50

Yeh, bin the first photo, it’s just distracting.

LuluBlakey1 · 03/11/2023 12:51

Lilq5 · 03/11/2023 11:54

Why not?

There is a mismatch in the line of the quilting on the front-one side is higher than the other and the line-up is off. That would put me off immediately. If it isn't really like that, make sure it doesn't show like that in photos.

DuchessOfSausage · 03/11/2023 12:51

The photos are funny. Leave them on.
Has the Daily Mirror picked up this thread yet?

NumbersEverywhere · 03/11/2023 12:51

OPPPPP nobody is going to pay £20 or even £15 for that coat, sorry.

I am a Vinted obsessive and stalk it daily, sometimes more than once haha. I agree with PPs - price it at £5 to £7 or at the very most £10 but say you're open to offers.

OMGitsnotgood · 03/11/2023 12:51

The coat itself looks fine. Photo of someone it's far too big for isn't doing it any favours. Maybe try it just on a hanger on a plain background? I'd reduce it to £18 (seems so much cheaper than £20!) and if anyone favourites it, offer a couple of pounds less.
