Enjoyed watching the documentary, he was different than I expected him to be, not sure how really, but I have more respect for Victoria now as I think their lives have been about what he wanted/needed mainly
There are rumours of lots of affairs, is this true though as I find that hard to believe, he seemed so obsessed with her

Obsessed in the early days as she was his first girlfriend by the sounds of it, and he didn't have many friends generally. His focus was all about the football.

Obsession like that doesn't last.

It's really not that surprising that he cheated or that she forgave him and they have been happily married since. Marriages are complicated and they have been together two decades and more. The kind of connection they had at first is never going to last past the first flush is it?!

I thought they massively skirted over the whole affair thing. They talked around how awful it was and the relentless pressure they were under but were very careful to neither confirm or deny it ever happened which suggests to me that it did!

Where did you watch this? I remember the David and Rebecca scandal like it was yesterday she did an interview on Richard and Judy. At the end of the day they face the same marriage troubles like everyone else in fact worse as he was a top footballer... so affairs can't really come as that much of a shock in that industry? I do like him though.... Victoria I can't stand her though.

It’s definitely more than one affair. There have been multiple, and if rumours are to be believed, at least one child has come from his extra marital activities, who Victoria knows about. He comes across as a nice guy, but i think sadly he’s a lot less perfect than he wants us to think.

I have only seen the first episode and I think it comes across like Victoria was always wanting to be in the forefront of his mind. Like why tell him she was pregnant a day before the biggest match of his career? That's just ridiculous. Allowing him to drive hours for a few minutes. The whole thing is like an abuse of his love for her.

Superstar footballers who look like boy band members are always going to get plenty of offers from very attractive women. It’s naive to expect them to turn them all down. Victoria is bright enough to understand this.

@Hungrycaterpillarsmummy It was him that wanted to do it though? In the v early days of Dh and I’s relationship (we were only 17) Dh used to stay at my house until until 3/4 in the morning, cycle home then go to work, we were just so nuts we didn’t even think

Persistent rumours abound that he is entirely unable to keep it in his pants.
Also heard many rumours about him and Katherine Jenkins.
And rumours that they have been quietly separated for years and are together just for The Brand.

i have only seen one clip and I wonder if it’s reflective of his attitude towards her. She’s describing how they came from a working class background. He’s in another room but keeps putting his head through the door saying ‘tell them what car your dad drove’. He kept interrupting until she admitted her dad had a rolls Royce. maybe it’s not reflective of the whole show but it felt like he was trying to demean her. If he wanted to sit down and take part in the interview then he should’ve done it. Apart from anything I dont think it’s fair to say people who are working class don’t have rolls Royces but he kind of stopped her making her point.

To me he seemed like a bit of a twat but I’m prepared to admit it’s their sense of humour as I haven’t seen the programme.

As an aside I have only just remembered my dad briefly had a rolls Royce. But he left school at 15 and had a manual job. He was definitely working class and not really very good at reading or writing. Maybe that’s why that clip bothered me.

@stealthninjamum how many Rolls Royces have you ever seen in person?? It's not a working class car. Where I live you hardly notice them. I've seen less than 5 IRL and I'm a grown adult.
