Ruined weekend

Treated myself to a bottle of Prosecco last night, it turned out to be so sweet it was undrinkable. DH bought me a replacement today, clearly marked extra dry.

Its not only too sweet it has the flavour of cardboard.

Has anyone else had a similarity terrible weekend yet?

Took my cat to the vet because he wouldn't pee he came home and peed £65 for my cat to be squeezed and mauled for nothing what's worse is the vet had strong hand cream on so now his brother doesn't recognise him and is going insane growling and hissing he hissed at me so I hissed back he is now a mournful set of eyes following me and his brothers around the house

I have never drunk prosecco in my entire life, I don't like any wine either. I did have a bottle of odd sparkly stuff, it was free because I worked at Morrisons.

Bottle of Rosé prosecco from Lidl. That's what you need.

Meant to be on camp with Cubs but leader has COVID, after we've all worked so hard (Inc leader!!) it's sucky. So kinda not sad to be on a sofa in the warm and simultaneously sad I'm not doing a moonlight walk in the cold 🤣

If it’s anything like where I am they have probably done you a favour. It comes from so far away it’s like cardboard by the time it gets there. The pizza of last resort, I call it. I agree though, nice to have the option. I miss deliveroo.

Drinking that vile stuff however is one of the hardest things I've had to force myself to do.

I felt like dumbledore drinking the potion of despair in the half blood Prince. I asked my DH to make sure I drink every bit so I don't have to repeat it, then spent the night begging him to let me stop 🤣

I ordered a lovely velvet dress from eBay at a bargain price, made by white stuff. Special occasion planned.

boo hoo it failed to come on any of the days promised. Still not here!

@AhhSlippedOnMahBeansRitaaa I literally said to DH that I feel like Dumbledore!!! I couldn't keep it down when I still had a 3rd of the 2nd litre to drink so he bought me a stay at my favourite spa hotel and now, suffice to say, it's all gone 😁😁 Not a bad old weekend after all.

Good god this post has ruined my weekend…😑😂 I had a glass of wine last night and a glass of gin and lemonade tonight but will book into AA on Monday

I had a lovely cold bold bottle of Prosecco in the fridge last Saturday but felt a bit poorly so didn’t bother opening it. Turns out I have COVID and am still too poorly to drink it this Saturday. Bastarding COVID.

Erm, I hope there's not another camp that's been put off - I'm the leader that had to cancel a camp because myself and another leader came down with covid.

in my last 2 monthly wine orders I have ordered 6 bottles of undrinkable wine. Too sweet pink x 6 bottles and too alcoholic red x 6 bottles. Now my wine rack looks full but it really isn't 😕

Try Cava instead.

That's a very gracious reply! Cava is usually dryer than prosecco. Have you tried that? It's often on offer and it's easy to get some for £7-10 a bottle.

We've been to a concert. No trains so had to drive and have now been stuck unable to get out of the car park due to volume of traffic forever. We're in a blue badge space near the entrance but the traffic passing us is nose to tail and not letting anyone out. Worst is that we have ds with us - adult with SN who won't shut up about it. DH (a non driver) has now said he's going to the nearby shop for a bottle of gin. I don't think he has, just gone for a(nother) smoke.

I didn't say she shouldn't did I! I was asking if it was a special occasion that had been ruined so I could give extra commiserations.

How can wine be too alcoholic?

Make mulled wine with the red - am sure there must be something you can mix with the pink.

@CassieRole you should have made mimosas!! Blue curacao and orange juice. There's always a way!!

Prosecco labelling isn't quite the same as wine when it comes to sweet and dry. Extra dry generally denotes sweet. If you're looking for a dry prosecco, you need a Brut.

Extra dry Prosecco isn't sweet. You must drink extremely dry acidic wines to find it sweet. Brut is dry, extra dry is medium dry.

If it's a recent thing, then it may well be temporarily not being stocked to make way for Christmas lines - if that's the case then it could be back early next year.

So while that's not the best scenario, there is hope...

Oppo's website does list their stockists on a map, so that might be worth having a wee look at.
