Ruined weekend

CassieRole · 30/09/2023 18:57

Treated myself to a bottle of Prosecco last night, it turned out to be so sweet it was undrinkable. DH bought me a replacement today, clearly marked extra dry.

Its not only too sweet it has the flavour of cardboard.

😭

Has anyone else had a similarity terrible weekend yet?

In todays headlines. 750ml of fizzy wine ruins entire weekend. Get real. Is this Rhianna posting this on here?

artsperson · 01/10/2023 17:58

No nap, but sometimes you have to tough it out! Stay strong.....

nomadmummy · 01/10/2023 18:00

😂

The labelling of sparkling wine can be confusing. When talking about sparkling wine, "dry" doesn't mean the same thing as when talking about still wine (where dry indicates less perceived sweetness).

What you want is Brut, Extra Brut, or Brut Nature:

  • Brut Nature - Contains 0-3 grams of sugar
  • Extra Brut - Contains 0-6 grams of sugar
  • Brut - Contains 0-12 grams of sugar
  • Extra Dry - Contains 12-17 grams of sugar
  • Dry - Contains 17-32 grams of sugar
  • Demi-Sec - Contains 32-50 grams of sugar
  • Doux - Contains 50+ grams of sugar

Why are you drinking a bottle of prosecco two nights in a row? Is it a special occasion?

I bet you are fun at parties!

Read. The. Post. The first one was too sweet to drink so she was treated to a second one. Also... of she wants to drink two bottles of prosecco in two night, two hours or two minutes... mind your business. That's all

My thoughts exactly! Who is she, the prosecco police? 😆

NannaKaren · 01/10/2023 18:29

Have you been poorly - my sister hasn’t recovered her taste regarding alcohol since having Covid ….just saying !

My omelette went asymmetrical when I folded it over Sad

Buy an omelette maker. You always get perfectly shaped omelettes. I use mine all the time!

FreebieWallopFridge · 01/10/2023 18:56

I’ve dripped chocolate Ben and Jerry’s on myself. It’s unlikely to wash out. More clothes relegated to ‘indoor wear only’.

Sigh.

Riverlee · 01/10/2023 19:01

@Zanatdy i think Ocado may have your icecream.

ChampagneLassie · 01/10/2023 19:07

not trying to be snobby but I hate Prosecco (or most Prosecco) I really don’t understand the appeal. I think it’s to do with how it’s made. Im a big fan of champagne but there are plenty of decent cavas which are far nicer for same price point as Prosecco. it isn’t something I’d ever drink but so many people think it’s an acceptable offering to bring to a party/gathering. I’ve got several lingering at back of my cupboard. Oddly the givers never want to drink it either

ilovegranny · 01/10/2023 19:07

New roof being fitted at vast expense. Clumsy boot in wrong place cracked bedroom ceiling plaster and rain came in, soaking my bed. Husband at football match and got stuck in gridlock coming home. It was my birthday and I had a horrible cold.

ScotsBluebell · 01/10/2023 19:13

Cava Brut is nicer than Prosecco. Give it a try.

MarvellousMonsters · 01/10/2023 19:15

The plastic tubs in the dishwasher didn't dry. All of them dripping wet. Ugh.

Muu · 01/10/2023 19:20

Hot chocolate just burned the roof of my mouth. FML truly.

FayMac · 01/10/2023 19:32

I discovered on a Prosecco trip in Italy dry is the sweetest, then extra dry, then Brut then zero (that you can’t get in the U.K.). Finally discovered why dry/extra dry was too sweet for me when I thought it would be the best option for years, mind blown (doesn’t take much) 😂

greenbeansnspinach · 01/10/2023 19:39

Lots of this is so funny! The OP posted a tongue in cheek “first world problem” and invited others to respond in kind.

  • some criticised her drinking habits
  • others gave her straight faced advice about different sorts of fizzy wine
  • yet others came up with dreadful incidents that had truly distressed them
  • and a few got the joke and added to the fun!

CAVA

FunnysInLaJardin · 30/09/2023 22:56

in my last 2 monthly wine orders I have ordered 6 bottles of undrinkable wine. Too sweet pink x 6 bottles and too alcoholic red x 6 bottles. Now my wine rack looks full but it really isn't 😕

That’s Halloween sorted then - trick and treat in one

MsStyles · 01/10/2023 19:53

So firstly we found out wh had a wasps nest by being woken up in the night to so many of them in the bedroom and bathroom. I’m now petrified of them since hearing all that buzzing and their bodies banging off my bedroom door and wall! So I had to pay for pest control.
The next night my exhaust fell off so no car til Monday. And last night found another wasp in my room at midnight which then hid, so had to sleep in with daughter until I could find said wasp today and get him out. This weekend sucks!

MsStyles · 01/10/2023 19:54

I’m sorry. That’s totally shite. I’d make my birthday celebrations next weekend so you don’t lose out.

Zanatdy · 01/10/2023 19:55

@Riverlee yes Ocado does have it, just means spending £60 on a delivery but I’ve already put the stuff I want in the basket so if next Saturday it’s still out of stock I need to take action!! Haha. This week I’ve got some bounty’s and small Hagen-Daz mini tubs. Not as nice but will do for a week

winterchills · 01/10/2023 20:28

Maybe u could have tried mixing it! Pour half of each in a glass and stir! That may have made the perfect one!

Pliudev · 01/10/2023 21:02

Can you add something to your Prosecco and turn it into a less sweet cocktail? I'm no expert but I bet someone on here is. Gin? Vodka? Have a great Sunday pm!

You have just described my worst nightmare. Now I can't get it out of my head. I would have left the house, never to return, so I admire your bravery. Bees, wasps, hornets...actually, I think it's a phobia for all insects tbh, but the stinging ones get to me the most.
