Ruined weekend

Treated myself to a bottle of Prosecco last night, it turned out to be so sweet it was undrinkable. DH bought me a replacement today, clearly marked extra dry.

Its not only too sweet it has the flavour of cardboard.

Has anyone else had a similarity terrible weekend yet?

I added too much salt to my roasted tomato soup:-( and squished my focaccia dough when transferring from proving bowl to baking tray and it didn't rise well :-(

I had surgery and have been off work for 8 weeks. Due back at work on Monday and now have sodding Covid

Closed down or just closed for today? Absolutely gutting when you lose a good curry house.
We found a fantastic curry place, honestly the best we’ve ever had. Became regular customers until one day the phone just rang out, another day there was an answerphone message about a family emergency, they’d be open as soon as they could etc
The phone line went completely dead after that, number not recognised. We saw in the paper a few months later that a family were actually making the food in their home kitchen and so it was an illegally run business. We didn’t give a hoot, their food was incredible. We still occasionally say to eachother ‘ooh remember so-en-sos curries, yum!’ 🤣

My weekend tragedy was, like that of many others, curry related. Curry arrived, was yummy as always BUT THERE WERE NO POPPADOMS. I really hope it is not a cost cutting measure on their part and was simply a terrible, terrible mistake. Having only one of the dc here meant we didn't meet the spend threshold for a free beer was bad enough. But no poppadoms too?

Our chip shop is shut due to a problem with the fryer. I’m pregnant with horrible morning sickness and all I wanted was a chip-shop chip butty (homemade is not the same). We ended up with pizza which I suspect has made the nausea worse – bastard acidic tomatoes.

Scraped my car ( both doors )coming out of library . DH for some reason put a new olive dish in the washing up bowl and now it has a chip out of it 😬Iv had a face like an arse all day

😁was wondering that too! Tho if you want to stretch it out, after a couple of glasses it generally tastes much better anyway

Do you have a medium to large dog? Sometimes it helps to prop the book against their back while they sit on your lap.

There should be a day of national mourning when a favourite curry house closes!

Op, I think I would have been tempted to experiment with the bubbly.
Maybe with a pint glass, add some of each with some lime juice / orange juice / apple juice, any juice really. Or maybe some flavoured vodka, like absolute raspberry.
It might not taste the best, but after a few glugs and blowing your earwax out, you won't care 😁

It's our wedding anniversary today. Decided we'd get an Indian takeaway delivered. I picked out a chicken pathia. DH duly ordered online. Takeaway turned up and he'd ordered a me a chicken phall. I tried to be nice about his mistake, but I was really looking forward to my curry but there's no way I can eat a fucking phall!

I live in the middle of nowhere and there’s only one
pizza place that delivers. Except they have changed their delivery area so they won’t come here any more 😭

As others have said the labelling on Prosecco is a bit odd and extra dry really isn't. If you want a brilliant bargain fizz then you won't go far wrong with Aldi cremant du Jura, Sainsbury’s conegliano prosecco (if you enjoy Prosecco) or Sainsbury’s cremant de Loire.

Definitely not pregnant and almost certainly covid free. Just badly chosen booze.

Just done my online shopping order and my favourite ice cream isn’t available. Not great as I’ve been so good losing weight and this ice cream is my little treat after dinner. I’ve noticed quite a few shops stopped stocking it so hoping it’s not getting discontinued. Got some replacements but won’t be the same. Boo hoo

I am a bit broken-hearted as I dropped my youngest at university today. But I still can understand the pain of an Indian takeaway gone wrong. There is no disappointment like it.
