Ruined weekend

Treated myself to a bottle of Prosecco last night, it turned out to be so sweet it was undrinkable. DH bought me a replacement today, clearly marked extra dry.

Its not only too sweet it has the flavour of cardboard.

😭

Has anyone else had a similarity terrible weekend yet?

Fair! 🙌❤️

TeenLifeMum · 30/09/2023 19:28

Prosecco makes me vomit but reading this thread I now want wine but I don’t have any in the house 😭 sad times!

loreau · 30/09/2023 19:28

I had the only child and obligation free day for the last 20 years or so. I carefully planned to go to a National Trust property with the intention of spending a long time in every room reading all the information. We spent 3.5 hours going round the M25 on what should have been a 1 hour journey. all the while receiving dire threats from my elderly mother about my wish to go present free at Xmas. The sandwich selection when we got there was not good and it was crawling with children.

RicherThanYews · 30/09/2023 19:29

I haven't eaten today and I'm halfway through chugging 2 litres of colonscopy prep laxative stuff for first thing tomorrow morning. I'm also anaemic and I've been off the meds for it for a week ready for tomorrow and I'm knackered but can't sleep yet. Sorry about your crap prosecco, ironically before I went teatotal I preferred dry wines etc

Titicacacandle · 30/09/2023 19:29

I usually do that with a wagammas noodle bowl. I'm still sad my chicken tikka was SHITE!

elmooie · 30/09/2023 19:29

Ah but the third one will be JUST right. There’s still time, shops are open!

rainyskylight · 30/09/2023 19:30

@loreau oof that’s tough !

RicePuddingLady · 30/09/2023 19:31

I’m waiting for DH to come home with a curry. I really hope it’s not shite! <fear>

OooohAhhhh · 30/09/2023 19:06

I'd love a sweet Prosecco, all the ones I try seem too dry. Which one was it?

Upgrade to Cremant, £3 more but 100x better.

clary · 30/09/2023 19:31

Ah no OP this is bad news. Like when you have a takeaway and it's not great. Or your hairdresser leaves to have a baby and never comes back.

Oh @itsallnewnow that car reg thing is really annoying! Couldn;t you cancel, or did you realise too late?

To twist it though - last week I went to the theatre with DD, had to park quite close in a £££ car park, thought it would cost £8.80 but hadn't spotted that we qualified for the evening rate of £3.30! Winner!

TheYearOfSmallThings · 30/09/2023 19:31

My omelette went asymmetrical when I folded it over Sad

theduchessofspork · 30/09/2023 19:12

Feck off yourself

OP try a Pignoletto or a Cremant. Usually a little drier.

Oh this post made me choke on my Meursalt! This place really is the rich land of human kindness and love. Wouldn’t expect anything else on a Saturday night 😄 I am here for a hand hold whenever you need one op. Come to mine for a dry white wine 🍷

Sadly they have gone down the drain, sweet wine has no place in my household!

At least your drain will be cleaned out. Stick to wine/spirits, Prosecco is toothrot (and always disappointing)

blackpear · 30/09/2023 19:32

Have Covid. Hate being ill on non work days - it’s just so 7nfair!

ChardonnaysBeastlyCat · 30/09/2023 19:32

You could have saved it with a few drops of lime juice. Or some pomegranate molasses if you have some at the back of your cupboard.

Or mix with Aperol.

Or any tart juice.

bluebeardswife7 · 30/09/2023 19:33

But you can drink as much as you want on my watch. <hic>

clary · 30/09/2023 19:33

The worst thing so far this weekend is not spotting it had been raining on my washing until, erm, too late. Oh well.

CurlewKate · 30/09/2023 19:33

I'm on my own and yesterday I bought a bottled passionfruit martini as a treat. It's horrible. I tried adding a little extra vodka and made it worse.

Canonlythinkofthisone · 30/09/2023 19:33

I fell down the stairs, dented the skirting board with my elbow and now can't sit down my ass and cocix hurt that much 🤣🤣. I'd take any flavoured prosecco right now. Stoptober tomorrow though so no booze in the house to take the pain off 🤣🤣

RicherThanYews · 30/09/2023 19:34

To the poster whose curry place was closed, you have my sincerest condolences. Our local place for good spicy wings closed 8 years ago and everybody still mourns it

determinedtomakethiswork · 30/09/2023 19:34

There's no chance you are pregnant, is there? A lot of things taste odd then.

Ashleysaidwhat · 30/09/2023 19:35

smallshinybutton · 30/09/2023 19:03

Why are you drinking a bottle of prosecco two nights in a row? Is it a special occasion?

What's wrong with having Prosecco two nights in a row ? It's roughly the same price as wine so I wouldn't think it's too special

elmooie · 30/09/2023 19:35

I never knew this - how bloody confusing, who came up with such a terrible labeling system 😅 I love the little “out of 5” measures some supermarkets give you. Or, if in doubt, take the one that has the fewest left on the shelf (as all those other people must surely know something!)

WonderingWanda · 30/09/2023 19:35

Stick a shot of something else in it and pretend it's a cocktail.

harriethoyle · 30/09/2023 19:35

Quittingthyme · 30/09/2023 19:09

Prosecco labelling isn't quite the same as wine when it comes to sweet and dry. Extra dry generally denotes sweet. If you're looking for a dry prosecco, you need a Brut.

@smallshinybutton , what's it to you how much op drinks?

@jays (headtilt) you ok hun?

I'm sorry... what?! @Quittingthyme can you explain? My flabber is ghasted!
