Clubbing in your 40s

Not an AIBU as such. But my DC are finally at an age they can be left with baby sitters and I want to go clubbing. I want a night out in London similar to Shoreditch 2005 - 2010, Shunt lounge London Bridge if that means anything to anyone.

Is clubbing always a disappointment in your 40s or can those nights out in your late 20s be recreated?

Drumsheds last Saturday was awesome! Really quite easy to get to as well, considering we are near the south coast.

Those gantry's though, looked like they were penned in!
Absolutely belting sets from the might Hot Chip and Orbital. Happy me!

MojoMoon · 27/10/2023 14:47

Agreed, Bugged out at Drumsheds was great.

Average age must have been above 40.....some ravers well into their 60s as well.

Crappy weather made the foot trucks a bit less appealing than it would have been. Take a plastic poncho stuffed in a pocket if the weather is bad is my advice.

Hot Chip were my highlight.

I see Sugababes are playing a night in Dec at Drumsheds....

Anyone going to drumsheds for Andy C this weekend!! EEEEEEEP i cant wait

JaneIves · 09/11/2023 16:40

No, but I'm tempted for chase and status next February!!
That will go off, no doubt!

JerkintheMerkin · 09/11/2023 22:18

Just booked tickets for Louie Vega in January and my 50 year old feet can't wait to hit the dance floor. As long as MAW (Masters at Work) are in session I'll still be there to cheer them on.

26th? I’ve just got tickets for that as well. Love MAW

Is anyone on here doing Southport Weekend in March?

I'm 34 and went to a club three weeks ago. A man a similar age to me approached me and said "you look like you might remember Woolworths too!" 😳🤦

😂😂😂😂

JerkintheMerkin · 09/11/2023 22:42

@SamW98 yes 26th at Outernet. See you on the dance floor 💃🏾💃🏾💃🏾

CaramacFiend · 09/11/2023 22:44

Kinda shit without the drugs IMHO, and I'm waaay past those days.

SwordToFlamethrower · 09/11/2023 22:54

If you're into hard House or trance, you'll not be disappointed

@Canisaysomething - do it properly.

Godskitchen.
Trancecoda.
Ministry of Sound.
Passion.
Cream.
Amnesia.

House/trance music. All going strong in 2023. I'm 40s and I don't look out of place.

Don't forget Tidy!! Also Gatecrasher is back in the form of new management or old management - Rebooted

JaneIves · 09/11/2023 22:59

Peach reunions at Camden palace (KoKo) too!

Heyahun · 14/11/2023 10:42

i went to Andy C and it was so bloody good - much younger crowd than at the bugged out weekends - but to be expected i guess! still dragged my pregnant sober ass up near the front for a proper dance - only lasted until 9.30 though couldn't face the last hour hahah

Heyahun · 14/11/2023 10:43

@JaneIves chase and status i'd love to go - probably won't as be 9 months pregnant then - but went to chase and status back to back with Groove armada at glasto 2 years ago at the arcadia stage and it was insane - so much fun!! :)

SkySecret · 14/11/2023 10:49

I was never huge into clubbing but would enjoy the odd night out as a youngster. I went a long time without going out in town as my ex wasn’t into nights out AT ALL and we’d have been stood there bored.

Now I’m with an older guy who does enjoy a night out, and we go out in town sometimes for spontaneous nights out and we have a great time! Not interested in interacting with others who are out, they’re just background extras, there to set the atmosphere. It’s just about me and him, enjoying a drink, some tunes and a laugh! (And laughing at the randomers that fall on the floor 😂)

JerkintheMerkin · 21/11/2023 10:40

@SkySecret yes, I quite agree about background extras who make the atmosphere. It's not about pulling (waaaay too old for all of that) just listening to great music, enjoying a few drinks, dancing the night away and just enjoying the company of likeminded friends.

Globules · 21/11/2023 19:33

If anyone has spare tickets for Camelphat this weekend, let me know!
