Just after everyone's opinions. I'm on an all inclusive holiday . Nothing flash . European destination. Hot sunny . 3*. Would you feel offended if a female sunbathes topless at the pool? Just for context I have done , but put bikini top on to go in pool and her drinks . It's literally just going topless when laying on sunbed . More context age range is babies up to 70+ . Lots of different shapes and weights of people . Lots of bellies make and female and lots of big boobs on men. Like I say this is just for context . Just interested in people's opinions. I'm with my husband on holiday .

@EthelMcUnready - Think how many times the kids have embarrassed you!

Good point 😂

StarlightLady · 05/08/2023 16:11

@EthelMcUnready - Exactly! If you want to take your top off, revenge is yours.

MadMadaMim · 05/08/2023 17:56

No issue with topless - when i ised to beach holiday loads of people of all shapes and sizes were topless, including me. I haven't done a beach holiday for about 10 yrs so don't know the current etiquette.

If I saw anyone was uncomfortable, I'd probably cover up

And FTR, I'd much rather see loads of boobs than the miniscule thong bikinis that literally leave nothing to the imagination when bending over sitting with legs open etc! 😮

Better a cool girl than a body shamer. Nothing wrong with not wanting to sunbathe topless, everything wrong with trying to stop others from doing it by pretending it means they're ugly...and somehow deluding yourself that this doesn't mean you have issues.

😒

Good, solid answer.

Yes definitely getting the ‘cool girl’ vibes on this thread from some. Competing as to who thinks boobs are the least sexual and are happy to let them hang out in front of anyone.

@AdverbPlease I sunbathe topless and I’m about as far from ‘cool girl’ as it’s possibly to be! I just hate tight/damp fabric on me and get really sweaty. Being topless is more comfortable. I’d be naked if I could but that’s only acceptable on nudist beaches and saunas.

Honestly. Your body your choice. But if kids are around then I wouldn't. We spend a lot of time teaching kids to protect themselves and their private parts that I think sunbathing topless around kids kind of gives mixed signals.

I’m not sure about this- we teach kids all sorts of things are ok for adults but not children. Sex, alcohol, smoking, driving etc- topless sunbathing can be added to that list.

Mainland europe here.
Guys around me did not get excited by our boobs at the pool generally. They did get excoted by them in private settings.

Place and time. Looking at it from different angle now being half life there half in uk I actually fimd it interesting and bit funny that boobs by the pool were meh, but 3 hours later i took bra off at home an boyfriend gone😱
Mate, you just saw them out there😁

Sprinkles211 · 05/08/2023 19:14

Can guarantee some young boys and gross men will of been sneaking pictures tbh, at a family resort I'd say no need to get them out but adult only go for it

Nowadays yes, technology is double headed sword innit. Brings aome great things but ruins some pleasures

This thread is hilarious. Firstly because you feel the need to even ask @HowmuchcanispendatChristmas and secondly because of the amount of pearl clutching puritans who feel outraged at the thought. It’s sunny, they are breasts (50% of the population have them) and would prefer not to get tan lines. Sheeeesh.

EmeraldDuck · 05/08/2023 22:13

I’ve done it when there were other women around doing it, I wouldn’t do it if I was the only woman topless. I’ve also only done it with sunglasses on, so any photos aren’t clearly identifying.

Lots of suncream as nipples are very vulnerable to skin cander apparently.

I wouldn’t judge another woman doing it unless she was shoving herself at other men.

Would you judge a woman "shoving herself at other men" (as opposed to which men? And what form would this offensive shoving take?) if she had a bikini top on?

Tbh, the pearl clutching doesn't bother me.

The attempts to shame other women into not doing it by pretending it's a mark of ugliness, or the frankly weird assertion that people are "competing" over who can be the least offended (what?)... those are fucking crass and far more morally dubious than a human body on a sunny beach.

'Pearl clutching puritans outraged'

Well that's all a bit of a silly ott summary isn't it.

Most have said beach fine, folk are spread out but in a family hotel poolside where everyone is close to others it isn't appropriate. Kids and teens about? Just why. I mean why not take her bikini bottoms off too and go for no tan lines at all, it's only an arse afteall. Her arse her rules.

Because kids and teens and their parents may not want to have a topless woman on the next sun lounger. Why not go completely naked if it's only a body and her body her rules?

Why should it bother them? And surely they could move if offended?

Because it's her body and she doesn't want to go topless. So men's nipples are OK on show, but women's are a no! Got it 👍

Confusion101 · 05/08/2023 23:33

Made a mistake... Its her body and she doesn't want to go completely naked, only wants to go topless. But I also think there is a huge difference between genitalia and breasts

Sittingonasale · 05/08/2023 23:52

Not something I ever really did and I lived abroad a lot. I saw it a lot in France, a bit in Greece and Spain but always on the beach. Don't recall seeing it at public pools.
Certainly wouldn't be confident doing it now with my stretchmarks and facing south 43 year old danglers.

HoneyIshrunkthe · 05/08/2023 23:55

I would but I have terrible tits so I wouldn't want anyone seeing them.

Gladyys · 06/08/2023 08:25

Well you don't seem to have it, because these are 2 completely different things Confused.

Ok then. Print off a couple of pictures of male nipples, cut them out and stick them over any female ones. Then it will be fine.

I don't know why you're telling us about knowing the difference between things, though, since you don't know the difference between a nudist area and an area that allows anyone to be topless.

DoraSpenlow · 06/08/2023 09:32

I wonder how many here who call others pearl clutchers for being uncomfortable to have barebreasted women around their menfolk would be happy for their menfolk to go to strip clubs to look at - barebreasted women?
