Topless abroad . Yes or no

Just after everyone's opinions. I'm on an all inclusive holiday . Nothing flash . European destination. Hot sunny . 3*. Would you feel offended if a female sunbathes topless at the pool? Just for context I have done , but put bikini top on to go in pool and her drinks . It's literally just going topless when laying on sunbed . More context age range is babies up to 70+ . Lots of different shapes and weights of people . Lots of bellies make and female and lots of big boobs on men. Like I say this is just for context . Just interested in people's opinions. I'm with my husband on holiday .

I did sunbathe topless occasionally when I was younger - I wouldn’t now for a few reasons:

1. Less confidence in my own body.
2. Less vain than I used to be so not bothered by tan lines.
3. I’d be up and down so much with the kids what’s the point 😂
4. Comfort - I need support not to have boobs in my armpits.
5. More awareness of families / others around me who may be bothered.
6. CAMERA PHONES!!

I would also encourage my daughter not to do it these days, because of the camera phones - too easy to be in the back of someone else’s photo and forever immortalised on the internet .

I haven't sunbathed topless but don't care about others who choose to. Absolutely double standards to see nothing wrong with men going topless but for women it's suddenly attention seeking and frowned upon 🙄🙄

To those saying, would you remove your bottoms.... I would draw the line at men or women going completely in the nip and exposing their genitals. Nobody needs to see a vulva or penis unwillingly while trying to relax by a pool

It’s not double standards. Breasts are sexualised, men’s bare chests aren’t.

Honestly. Your body your choice. But if kids are around then I wouldn't. We spend a lot of time teaching kids to protect themselves and their private parts that I think sunbathing topless around kids kind of gives mixed signals.

I've done it years ago in Spain when many other women were topless too. Don't have any problem with it. I find Brits and Americans are much more alarmed by the human body than the rest of Europe. Do you remember all that incredible fuss when Janet Jackson had the tiniest wardrobe malfunction ever?

Many European countries are very conservative as well, though.

@Gladyys - Yes, I go topless in my own garden, my garden, my body, my rules. If the neighbours are so desperate that they want to get their binoculars or a periscope out, they have a sad life.

There's a place between not wanting to expose one's breasts in front of strangers and 'being alarmed by the human body'. There really isn't a need to use hyperbolic language to imply there's something repressed and fearful about wearing a bikini top.

Recently back from Spain. Doesn't seem to have gone out of fashion there. It wasn't a large tourist area. Most Women on the beach were topless. Plently were wearing thongs and topless at the same time. Plently of women of all ages and body types.
Lots of men of all ages, including teens and children there.
No one seem to notice or care. It didn't really occur to mr until this thread.
I don't know about round the pool because I didn't stay in a hotel. Can't say I have noticed previous years.

The differrnt attitude to nakedness shows in tv too. Dh was shocked by so many fully naked scenes in some continental netflix series 😂

Get the view of it’s your body and up to you, but I wouldn’t do it as it’s offensive to some, uncomfortable for others and horrific for teens! It’s a bit selfish if it’s a public/hotel pool. I wouldn’t want to deliberately make it uncomfortable for others so I’d go off to the beach or hire a villa.

Mostly the nudity of young, pert women, I bet!

It was Italian series on Netflix. There were few but this one was most memorable, though I forgot the name! It was about 2 young girls and cult in village and local mine.

I don't like it in a family resort no. It doesn't bother me personally but it makes me uncomfortable when there's kids and teens around. I was brought up in a family where you hid yourself away though, so that might be where those feelings come from.

Yes definitely getting the ‘cool girl’ vibes on this thread from some. Competing as to who thinks boobs are the least sexual and are happy to let them hang out in front of anyone.

I sun bathed topless loads when I was younger, as did my mum, aunts and nan. That was in Spain and medditerrain countries though. The only time I didn't was when I went to Turkey and other Muslim countries. I wouldn't these days, but that's only because I holiday with my 16 year old son. If I was to go away without kids and it was in the med then I probably still would. I hate tan lines! Interestingly though, my daughter said tan lines are the in thing now and people are doing tutorials on how to fake them! Blows my mind.

Better a cool girl than a body shamer. Nothing wrong with not wanting to sunbathe topless, everything wrong with trying to stop others from doing it by pretending it means they're ugly...and somehow deluding yourself that this doesn't mean you have issues.

This thread is interesting. Mum (now deceased) went topless, sister goes topless and I’ve never felt the need to cover my boobs.

About 30 years ago, we went to a Turkish resort when it was just opening up for holiday makers. The local men would gather on the beach to watch the tourist women sunbathe. Two young women took their tops off and it stopped the traffic - literally men stopped their cars to get out and look! I suspect it's more commonplace now.
