I'm going to get flamed backwards for this, but I really don't care. I'm also going to be accused of all manner of trollery, bite me.

It's my opinion, I want yours - so, SAHM's who's children are at school-all day, aren't they just stay at home people? Not a lot of parenting goes on as far as I can tell.

Yes but some cant get jobs to fit into the school times, im a sahm with 1 at school and 2 at home but even if i only had 1 at school i still couldnt work as i cannot drive and would find it hard to get a job between 10 and 2.

Oh, only getting the child up, feeding breakfast, walking to school, being on call through the day, walking back to school and picking up the child, being a full-time parent after 3.30 ... not to mention being there if the child is ill, sent home, and during school holidays.

You're just bored and stirring, aren't you?

Oliveoil · 27/02/2008 10:45

Well a) maybe they can't find a decent job to fit round school hours/holidays

and b) have spent 5+ years wiping arses and generally clearing up shite and fancy a bit of a break doing nothing at all

[whose btw]

CatIsSleepy · 27/02/2008 10:45

well, perhaps we're all just parents regardless of whether we go out to work or not
not sure what your point is

CrushWithEyeliner · 27/02/2008 10:45

What on earth are you talking about? School is only from 8.30-3.30, "parenting" goes on a lot longer that that

Mercy · 27/02/2008 10:47

You know YABU. Why even bother asking?

Oliveoil · 27/02/2008 10:47

I would love to do 'nothing' when my youngest eventually starts school although I think I may get bored after a while

Ha ha, being on call through the day? Isn't every parent on call through the day regardless of whether they're at home or work?

bossybritches · 27/02/2008 10:48

passes large wooden spoon & knicks Monkeys popcorn

MissingMyHeels · 27/02/2008 10:48

If they have 2/3 kids at school it still may not be financially viable to work when you take into account childcare costs.

Wisteria · 27/02/2008 10:48

No - you're wrong and unreasonable - can't see why you would start a thread like this unless as WWB says you are bored and stirring.

IME parents who stay at home once their children start school are usually involved in the school to some degree, there for their dcs when they get home......all manner of things. I also do some work from home but only a small amount and am at college.

You become a parent when you have a child, what happens after that does not take away your parental role..........

micegg · 27/02/2008 10:49

Here's my opinion 'Pissyflaps' (Nice name ) -

You are a troll.

Now run along and get your kicks elsewhere.

bossybritches · 27/02/2008 10:49

BoysAreLikeDogs · 27/02/2008 10:50

Anyone else think that this thread might have to be deleted due to being utterly pointless

Loshad · 27/02/2008 10:51

sagacious · 27/02/2008 10:51

Yep, when dd starts school in January I'll be a stay at home "people"..
Actually I'll be a go out shopping, bit of lunch, perhaps the gym sort of people

Can't bloody wait !

So yah boo sucks!

Pissyflaps · 27/02/2008 10:52

I can't be a troll if it's my own opinion, can I? Seriously, I'm interested in what you've got to say - Just because it's my opinion, doesn't mean it's right - I want to hear your opinions so that I can have a more balanced view of things.
