How often do you wash your bra??

This afternoon my sister and I were chatting and this came up- she washes her bra's after every wear. I am quite the opposite... my brand's go many many wears between washes and never seem obviously dirty or have any kind of scent.

AIBU and a skanky cow or is she being a clean freak? Just wondering what the general consensus is?

Also to clarify... we had this conversation getting changed at the gym- the only exception to my rule is sports bra's which do get sweaty and are washed after every wear.

If I've been sweating. Which for me is very infrequent.

SapphireSeptember · 29/07/2023 18:03

I wear mine once or twice, three times if I'm lucky. I am large of nork and I sweat a lot, and I wear cotton crop type bras which soak up a lot of sweat. In the winter I can wear them more often, in the summer I cannot.

BigSkies2022 · 29/07/2023 18:06

About 6 times a year.

emziecy · 29/07/2023 18:15

😂😂😂I'm 50 and the girls are not quite that dangly yet 🤣🤣🤣

Swimgballdivs · 29/07/2023 18:36

2/3 days depending on if it’s hot .

Noicant · 29/07/2023 18:37

After every wear, I had a bout of illness and was sweating so bad I managed to get a fungal infection under my boobs. I always washed bras every wear anyway but after that I was extra careful.

ArabeIIaScott · 29/07/2023 18:37

Some of us are mingy, some of us are springy, some of us are marquee-sized and some of us are like fairy hammocks. Some of us wash daily, some of us just give them a dust once every six months. It's norkses for courses.

shineonyoucrazydiamondd · 29/07/2023 18:38

Oh I’m a scumbag obviously reading the replies on here 😂 I wash my bras after like 4/5 wears, sometimes more 🙈
I never wear knickers longer than a day though so they’re washed daily!

Tootsey11 · 29/07/2023 18:38

It's no wonder the planet is fucked with all this washing. No one needs to wash a bra after one wear, unless you are in a very warm sweaty environment.

stayathomer · 29/07/2023 18:44

Depends on how sweaty I am, could be daily otherwise probably twice a week (but I do have 3/4 bras so again depends. A lady on mn once told me you don’t sweat under your boobs but I do!!

BadNomad · 29/07/2023 18:49

It amuses me that so many people think "washed daily" means the washing machine is running with one lone bra in it every day.

Falafelfiend · 29/07/2023 18:50

I always see environmental concerns used as justification for really poor hygiene on MN. Could eat less meat or drive less or fly less or have fewer children, but it's always "Nope I change my sheets once a month for the planet!"

hot2trotter · 29/07/2023 18:53

Daily. Same as the rest of my clothes

Falafelfiend · 29/07/2023 18:55

@BadNomad right? Though some expensive ones need to be hand washed. Mine go in the machine though, every second wear, daily if sports bras or very hot.

SirVixofVixHall · 29/07/2023 19:00

VeridicalVagabond · 27/07/2023 19:29

Every 3-4 wears in the winter, every 1-2 in the summer. Of course this is Mumsnet so anyone who doesn't handwash their bras in handpicked lavender water every single day at dawn is a filthy degenerate.

The same, I am a chilly person, not at all sweaty . Sports bra would be one wear.

BadNomad · 29/07/2023 19:03

Yep. I handwash the wired ones and the others sit in the basket until I'm putting a wash on. It's never just one bra in the machine.

PrtScn · 29/07/2023 19:06

Until they look like they are going to walk away

StarlightLady · 29/07/2023 19:25

@BadNomad - Exactly. This was my point up thread. Changing a bra each day and adding it to the regular wash load has no environmental impact and uses no more resources. My boobs deserve a freshly laundered environment to live in.

HateLongCovid · 27/07/2023 19:33

Don't forget those of us not washing them every day are being more environmentally friendly! If it's not dirty or smelly don't wash it!

Amen. Cannot believe people are washing bras after one wear.

Cakeandcardio · 29/07/2023 20:38

I'm the same OP. Maybe a month? Haha (or longer).

Duckduckie · 29/07/2023 20:44

I can’t afford to have a bra for every day, I would be bankrupt! How are people affording this 😂

User16496743 · 29/07/2023 20:47

A bra doesn't actually make much impact on a washing load, they are quite small, it's not like washing towels or sheets which half fill the machine

Koalasparkles · 29/07/2023 20:50

Natalia457 · 27/07/2023 19:05

Blush

Hahaha looks like I am a grotbag! But unless I am working out or in a very hot climate I don't really sweat!

Knickers I do indeed wash after every wear.. but I play fast and loose with jumpers bras and jeans!

No, not at all. I wear mine for at least 3,4 or 5 days. Depends how warm it's been or what I've been doing. But then I do that for all of my clothes 🤷🏼‍♀️ I'm not very sweaty and I don't believe I smell very much. You've just got to judge this for yourself haven't you?

roarrfeckingroar · 29/07/2023 20:59

I'm breastfeeding so every wear or occasionally every other wear because of milk leaking.

Normally I would wear a bra three times unless I'm exercising, out for a night out or it's very warm.

NortieTortie · 29/07/2023 21:07

Every wear. Only cause I'm a walking bucket of sweat.

Washing them so often means they go dingy or ruin a lot quicker tho, which is a shame cause they're so fkin expensive.
