How often do you wash your bra??

This afternoon my sister and I were chatting and this came up- she washes her bra's after every wear. I am quite the opposite... my brand's go many many wears between washes and never seem obviously dirty or have any kind of scent.

AIBU and a skanky cow or is she being a clean freak? Just wondering what the general consensus is?

Also to clarify... we had this conversation getting changed at the gym- the only exception to my rule is sports bra's which do get sweaty and are washed after every wear.

I wear them for 3-4 days. They just don't get dirty. Don't know why I'd change them more than my trousers, e.g.

Oblomov23 · 29/07/2023 14:39

I don't agree with this every day, if not it's grim nonsense. Fine for sports bra if sweating, or in summer boiling heat, but for most people 2 or 3 days is fine.

JJCC3891x · 29/07/2023 15:36

I'm shocked how many wash over every wear, I'm every 2/3 wears but not the same bra 2 days in a row so they air between wears

Also some wears are only a couple of hours as once I'm back in the house them niples are free ☺️

Sophie89j · 29/07/2023 16:02

I change it every prob 3 days, I don’t sweat though but during the heat wave I did change it every day

MoggyMittens23 · 29/07/2023 16:15

Really depends. Sometimes a few weeks, in winter. Never after one wear! No I don't wash my towel after one use etc etc. I don't change my bedding every week either.

MoggyMittens23 · 29/07/2023 16:17

Hihihihihihihihihi · 28/07/2023 15:59

Every day - I'm shocked at some responses saying they wear them for a week before washing

get a life

BaroldBalonz · 29/07/2023 16:28

I don't know. I don't wear the same bra on consecutive days, and sometimes swop a couple of times in a day depending on activities but I only wash them if/when they look dirty or have a smell other than deoderant. Washed with 2 or 3 of similar colour on handwash in washing machine.

Last far longer than when I chucked them in with the rest of the washing.

Tiredhotmess · 29/07/2023 16:39

After every wear, unless I'm on a 2 week holiday in which case I don't have enough to last me through, and I might wear it for 2 days.

SmudgeButt · 29/07/2023 16:40

I'm grotty too!!!

Everything gets washed much too often IMHO. Not good for the environment and not necessarily good for us either.

I wear cotton bras as I react to any polyester etc so maybe that makes it easier for me. I put on a clean bra after I've had a shower which I currently do 3 - 4 times a week. I used to shower more when I worked full time but working less hours means less close contact so I'm not going to up close to people for hours every day. Bra comes off at night along with everything else and both it and knickers get aired overnight ready for another day's use. Socks too in winter.

ChocolateCinderToffee · 29/07/2023 16:41

clean one every other day

ChocolateCinderToffee · 29/07/2023 16:43

ManateeFair · 28/07/2023 15:53

Nah, I'm with you on this. I basically wear mine until they smell and/or feel out of shape. Same with jeans.

I suspect everyone on here saying 'two or three wears' really means a week and everyone saying '4-5 wears' means a fortnight, but they just dont' want to admit it.

speak for yourself, love!

Pootle40 · 29/07/2023 16:45

Every few days

NetZeroZealot · 29/07/2023 16:47

Every 3 days for normal wear.

Sports bras get washed after 3 exercise sessions.

Moonshine60 · 29/07/2023 16:48

Every day.

StarlightLady · 29/07/2023 16:49

To those who say that washing after one wear is not good for the environment, I may rock a 36F, but even so, adding bras to a regular coloured wash at 30 degrees after one wear does not require extra detergent, extra water, extra electricity or an additional load in the machine.

mistermagpie · 28/07/2023 16:36

Actually does boob size make a difference? Mine are really small so they don't get sweaty underneath because there isn't a fold there, if you know what I mean

Not exactly - I am a DD cup so not small but I don’t have any overhang (40 and still pert, probably because I’m childless, one infertility perk at least…).

I am quite a low-temp mortal compared to average body temps though and I’m not a very sweaty or odorous person, who also does an office job.

IcedPurple · 29/07/2023 16:50

Every 3 or 4 wears. Possibly less often if the weather is cool and I'm just sitting around the house.

I change knickers once or sometimes twice daily, but bras don't seem the same to me.

Canidoitreally · 29/07/2023 16:50

I wear mine until it smells (tbh it never seems to) or do sweaty sport.

Tbh since pregnancy I've found it hard to find a comfy one and only have one I love. So it can be worn for probably a month at a time.

BHRK · 29/07/2023 16:52

Every 3 days unless really hot days

Moonshine60 · 29/07/2023 16:53

Clean one every day. It's underwear.

ArabeIIaScott · 29/07/2023 16:54

1st week of April is bra-washing season and I'll not deviate from that. I have a special centrifugal drier hired, get extra help in, and afterwards I put them up in the garden to air, like giant marquees.

Arou · 29/07/2023 16:56

Every 3 days probably - def not every day

Louise2023 · 29/07/2023 16:57

‘When it comes to normal use, every two to three wears is fine. Obviously, that's not the case if it's a sports bra you're wearing to an intense gym class or if it's a hot summer's day. If you're particularly sweaty, you should wash the bra each wear’ - glamour mag

Hope this helps x

MarriedinMaui · 29/07/2023 16:58

Ha! I'm so glad you posted this OP. I almost never wash mine and they seem absolutely fine and I'm pretty sure I don't smell. Have often wondered if I'm a minger.

Pants and socks every wear, t shirts every 2, but anything that needs a hand wash cycle (cashmere jumpers, bras) only gets done if visibly dirty. I always mean to wash them a bit more than I do but just don't get round to it. They last ages and are all in great condition, I don't think too much washing is good for them.

It is so strange that posters just cannot conceive that other people are different from them, so they think they must be lying.
