Slight tangent, but I really loved Person of Interest - brilliant concept and I suspect we’re not far away from tapping into predictive quantum entanglement stuff via AI.
The whole Cambridge Analytica thing is fact after all, and the 77th Brigade is a real thing.
The argument against being a bit “paranoid” about monitoring and digital surveillance because “the individual is not that important” and therefore it’s an indicator of narcissistic tendencies gets tricky when we’re all wired into technology across multiple platforms and devices that cross reference with algorithms to serve up tailored content.
Mostly so far it is just about generating profit because capitalism but when you think about the social credit system in China, and the shades of that we had globally during the pandemic, it’s not surprising people become wary.
Data is the most valuable commodity in the world now, and it is being used to nudge us in all sorts of directions to benefit those who use said data.
Of course security agencies are going to monitor alleged potential risks. It’s why even the lowest level criminals use untraceable burner phones etc.
The dark web was an attempted pushback but that all went a bit wrong.
The speed of technological advance means keeping up with it is out of reach of most of us.
Which may bring us back to the question…. Aliens??
