He was very good in that prison thing.

DustyLee123 · 20/07/2023 08:02

Plenty of people have made a fortune being a ‘one trick pony’.

Dotjones · 20/07/2023 08:03

Yeah he's a one-trick pony, as far as I can tell he earns a living just by being an actor. I've never heard of him doing complicated surgery work or piloting commercial airliners.

GoodChat · 20/07/2023 08:03

I've never seen a bad movie or TV show that he's done. He has a genre and a character type and he's done very well from it.

LMNT · 20/07/2023 08:04

Good actor. Unfortunate views about women.

smilesup · 20/07/2023 08:05

That prison thing was amazing. The main complaint I have about his is that as a dyslexic this name is complicated to compute as it should rhyme 😁

DustyLee123 · 20/07/2023 08:05

I’m going to have to watch Lady Chatterly’s Lover again now 🤣

DisforDarkChocolate · 20/07/2023 08:05

He's not someone I'd watch something just because he was in it, but when I do watch him he's pretty good. One trick pony is just goady with no context.

Weird thread

It's just not good enough is it? Wink

HakunaMatiłda · 20/07/2023 08:08

Far from it, he carved out his role as a villain quite well.

Stickmansmum · 20/07/2023 08:08

He was incredible in snowpiercer.

SliceOfCakeCupOfTea · 20/07/2023 08:08

What else do you want from him?

Sceptre86 · 20/07/2023 08:09

In his earlier years he was either typecast or went for a very specific role and played to his strengths. His acting had gotten better with age and he chooses, gets offered better roles where he can show off his depth as an actor.

😂

Tiredjoanna · 20/07/2023 08:09

Can't stand him. Everything he's in, it's just the same character every single time. Boring

Ponoka7 · 20/07/2023 08:11

Have you watched the Silent hill series of films? He was different in those and as said Time. The same could be said for Stephen Graham, or Joe Peski, many of the old gangster film actors, but that isn't a bad thing. They still play great roles. What I am sick of is all the same actors in every series on ITVX.

HoppingPavlova · 20/07/2023 08:11

Guessing he makes a decent living and couldn’t give a shiny what others think?

SnowyPetals · 20/07/2023 08:11

Personally I think it's a disgrace that he isn't also an Olympic horseman and Nobel Prize winner.

TucSandwich · 20/07/2023 08:13

Excellent in World on Fire. Shows another side to his acting I think.

Heurgh · 20/07/2023 08:14

I know. When I'm on a plane I often think, This pilot is such a one-trick pony, we haven't done a single barrel roll since we left Heathrow, why doesn't he just challenge himself once in a while?

PimpMyFridge · 20/07/2023 08:14

I think this about Martin Freeman, same character in anything he plays from the Hobbit to Sherlock, you name it same personality and mannerisms just different clothes and back story.
Sean was ace in that prison drama! And there was a drama about a long term married couple (can't remember the name) with Nicola Walker which was really good, where he was miles away from his usual character.
He doesn't have the widest range but he trumps Martin Freeman always adds value to what he's in and occasionally gets roles that stretch.

Divebar2021 · 20/07/2023 08:15

I mean High Grant, Ray Winstone and Jason Statham also spring to mind as pretty typecast. Can’t get too worked up about it tbh.

Bringonthesunforthewashing · 20/07/2023 08:15

Have you ever searched up Sean Bean Bastard on YouTube?

Basically it is loads of films he has been in saying ‘bastard’. He says it in loads of films, it’s absolutely hilarious 🤣. My personal favourite was ‘crafty little bastard’ 😂. Awesome 😁

Needmorelego · 20/07/2023 08:15

What are you considering his “one trick”?
Lord of the Rings, Sharpe, Game of Thrones, one of the other dozens of things he has been in?
