Have you ever searched up Sean Bean Bastard on YouTube?

Basically it is loads of films he has been in saying ‘bastard’. He says it in loads of films, it’s absolutely hilarious 🤣. My personal favourite was ‘crafty little bastard’ 😂. Awesome 😁

Not loads of films, just Sharpe. Again and again.

Sharpe saying Bastard is one of the best bits

LeavesOnTrees · 20/07/2023 08:34

My mum used to fancy him in Sharpe, Sunday evenings, if I remember correctly.

He was good in Golden Eye.

Anyone who thinks Hugh Grant is stealing a living by just being Hughie should watch him playing Jeremy Thorpe. Excellent.

gazpachosoupday · 20/07/2023 08:40

I saw him in Macbeth with Samantha Bond, he was really good.

And at least he does play different characters, Sean Pertwee plays Sean Pertwee in everything he does, still love him though

In his earlier years he was either typecast or went for a very specific role and played to his strengths. His acting had gotten better with age and he chooses, gets offered better roles where he can show off his depth as an actor.

I agree.

I thought he was especially good in "World on Fire". He showed just the right degree of tenderness for the role.

Yeah he's a one-trick pony, as far as I can tell he earns a living just by being an actor. I've never heard of him doing complicated surgery work or piloting commercial airliners.

Yup, poor show from Sean.

He also has never designed a bridge across San Francisco Bay.

DustyLee123 · 20/07/2023 08:42

That Yorkshire Tea advert is hilarious. Absolutely sending himself up. And I’d like to see more of him on TV doing his one trick, he’s a great actor, and I bet he’d be great company to have a pint with too.

LaDeeDa123 · 20/07/2023 08:43

People often describe working-class actors as one trick ponies. It’s frustrating. Eddie Redmayne never gets this because of his RP accent.

Agree completely. Getting older has been a gift for Hugh Grant. Once he stopped being the pretty boy he got more interesting roles. He was brilliant in the jeremy thorpe thing. Also as the Paddington Bear baddy.

At least he can act...Danny Dyer on the other hand is the ultimate one trick pony. I've seen reception class nativities with better acting that he can manage. Every role is Danny Dyer playing Danny Dyer.

Dyer is on my "Reach for the remote" list. I have to turn over whenever he appears on the screen.

I especially hated the trailers for "The Wall". He pronounces "wall" as though it's spelt "waw", and it grinds my gears like mad. It's harder to say it like that than to say it properly, ffs.

Ditto his "about to cry" face, which was more like someone struggling to hold in an epic fart.

Beezknees · 20/07/2023 08:46

Great actor imo but more than one of his many ex wives has said he's misogynistic.

AnneShirleysNewDress · 20/07/2023 08:46

He's also Seen Been in our house. He was excellent in Broken and Time.

That prison thing was amazing. The main complaint I have about his is that as a dyslexic this name is complicated to compute as it should rhyme 😁

Thats quite interesting. Im not dyslexic but really struggle with the written name!!!

I quite like him as an actor, I like the fact that he did the yorkshire tea advert

A total and utter one trick pony is Ray Winstone. Cant stand him

ThelmaBorden · 20/07/2023 08:50

Gritty in Sharpe
Vulnerable as the sensitive Brendan in Stormy Monday,
snivelling liar/ weak link in Ronin,
famous for dying in films, heroically in LotR,
Masterfully saving Geraldine at the altar in Vicar of Dibley,
Far North, full frontal, see ALL of Sean Bean,
hardly a one trick pony

Davros · 20/07/2023 08:52

I'm not averse to a drop of Seen Bean. I would suggest that Cary Grant was a one truck pony, but I love him, and many others

AllTheYoungGoodyTwoShoes · 20/07/2023 08:52

I always liked (fancied) Sean Bean since I saw him in the Derek Jarman film Caravagio in the 80s. He has been brilliant in a lot of things over the years, recently in Time and Marriage, I think it was called.

AnImaginaryCat · 20/07/2023 08:53

Totally agree OP, sick of him having the same face and voice in everything.

It's a disgrace.

Anyone who thinks Hugh Grant is stealing a living by just being Hughie should watch him playing Jeremy Thorpe. Excellent.

And An Awfully Big Adventure - contemporaneous with Four Weddings - but an entirely different character.

Whadda · 20/07/2023 08:56

I liked him in that thing where he died.

Soozikinzii · 20/07/2023 08:57

Definitely NOT a one trick pony . Completely transformed himself for the privon onecand the one where he was a preist. Both me and DH were amazed at how good an actor he is .

AllTheYoungGoodyTwoShoes · 20/07/2023 08:57

Yes, also the Jimmy McGovern drama where he played the priest, it was excellent.

Humidititties · 20/07/2023 08:57

He played the part of the husband in Marriage very well, it was quite uncomfortable to watch in parts.

MorePressureMoreRelease · 20/07/2023 08:57

His 'one trick' is acting? I'd say he's pretty busy doing at that and probably doesn't have time to be an astronaut, bin man or orthodontist as well.

loveourplanet · 20/07/2023 08:57

I think YABU OP. I loved 'Prince' from 1991, think it was a Screen One. It's on youtube
