Anyone else hate this weather

Too hot to walk far with the buggy like I usually do to keep toddler confined and occupied. She's too young to enjoy the pool, she likes it for about 10 minutes then just gets out and crawls on the concrete. Super guilt for just sitting indoors doing nothing because it's so glorious outside. And the last straw...I'm in thick leggings and a baggy thick top because I'm too fat to get my legs and belly out. Humbug.

Yep some people love it. Shock horror!

My dog loves laying in the sun outside of its peak- obviously not between 12 and 4- but she actively chooses to lay and get her vitamin d. She has a cooling pad to lay on indoors and water on walks. No suffering.

I struggle in the winter. I hate being cold. But I don't assume that people who love cold weather are weird or lying.

Having internet warfare over weather is kind of pointless - the weather is going to do what it's going to do and no one can stop it.

Getting annoyed at other people who do/don't like it is pretty pointless as well - it's not as if that's going to suddenly change the situation.

I grew up in a hot country. People stay indoors when the weather is like this. You would be marked out as a foreigner to venture out with kids in this weather.

Ah yes, God forbid you be marked out as a foreigner...

I totally agree, I was too and no one went out in the blazing sun, only people who weren't used to it- foreigners. I'm sure that's why I can't get on with humidity as I was brought up in dry heat.

Cincinnatus · 12/06/2023 14:43

What I struggle with is that most of the time it seems to be very hot but very cloudy. I could deal with it if there was actual sun out!

Tbf it's often not that pleasant to be made that even in UK 😶

cushioncovers · 12/06/2023 14:47

Muggy here and its horrible. Much prefer sun to hot but humid.

Forestfriendlygarden · 12/06/2023 14:58

(Just about) hanging on to my sanity in the midst of DD's a level exams by convincing myself all is fine with the weather as the washing is drying nicely...also solar panels meant it didn't cost me anything to run dishwasher or washing machine....

...meanwhile my plants outside are suffering, I'll be up till ten before I can get the hosepipe out.

TheLostNights · 12/06/2023 19:01

Looks like this could go on for weeks. It's only June now. What will it be like I August... I think we will be getting 40C temps again which honestly makes me want to cry.

DappledThings · 12/06/2023 19:03

I am so irritable already and it's only been hot for a few days where I am. Surely heat this early means we get some respite in July doesn't it? Please.

Zarataralara · 12/06/2023 19:05

Extremes of temperature make my pain flare so been in agony today, painkillers having zero effect ☹️ If it could stay at about 20-22C year round with low humidity I’d be happy.

chillidoritto · 12/06/2023 19:11

I love this weather. I love summer. I live for spring and summer. Autumn is nice but it’s the Sunday of the year.

Spectre8 · 12/06/2023 19:13

I was in a virtual meeting today and there was a guy in the office meeting room wearing full sleeve jumper over a shirt!!!!! I'm like meltong just looking at him wearing that 😆

Does happy dance in the rain ☔

I love a good thunderstorm ⛈️

DiaryofWimpy · 12/06/2023 19:18

I don't like this weather at all luckily I'm in East ofEdinburgh where we usually get breeze but it's to be hot for the week

Forestfriendlygarden · 12/06/2023 19:39

We are South West and desperate for rain now.
Threatened thunderstorm hasn't materialised. So muggy it is very stressful I find.

flimsywhimsy · 12/06/2023 19:42

Already counting down the days until it's cooler again. I'm playing YouTube video of autumn ambience and pretending it's October.

I was really grumpy until it broke so I feel your pain. I hope you get some.

My water butts are now nearly full. The garden is wet and the humidity has crashed. It's pleasant now.

Should make the rest of the week more bareable even if it's really sunny and warm.

Next rain looks like week Weds here. That'll do.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 12/06/2023 19:48

We had floods this afternoon and it's STILL muggy!

DeadButDelicious · 12/06/2023 19:59

It has cooled right down here thanks to a pretty epic thunderstorm. I have been stood outside in the rain and it has been glorious. All windows are open letting the cool air pour in. Could not have come soon enough as it was 31 this afternoon and I felt like I could cry it was so muggy, it's now 22 and dropping. Blessed respite! Grin

oh goodness I keep checking the weather on the internet and it says 'raining now'.

Porkies. Not a cloud in the sky - oh dear...

Ceci03 · 12/06/2023 20:31

OP I was like you and never bought summer clothes and was miserable for so many summers when my kids were small. Honestly get a couple of summer dresses and some chub rub shorts. Check out shein. Take your measurements. It's not expensive and will be delivered. Check out Asda online. Lovely stuff and so reasonable. You don't have to suffer. Don't waste these precious years feeling hot and grumpy. You won't look any fatter in lighter clothes and they are very inexpensive. Matalan online and discount codes everywhere. Good luck

My DP has been wearing jumpers in temperatures of 23/24. a side effect of one of his lifelong medications is that he is constantly cold. Last years heat was a joy to him as he could feel warm and wear a t-shirt and not feel like "a freak" (his words).

I don’t feel guilty or obliged to go out in hot weather but I’m sick of the assumptions that I should be out enjoying it and that I’m deranged if I don’t!

Yes, that's one of the reasons I'm not too keen. I always feel under pressure to 'get out' and fill every minute of the day from dawn till dusk to make the most of the 'glorious and rare sunshine' before the 'dreaded winter' comes.

I think it's a throw back to my childhood when my mother was constantly on at me to get my nose out my book and go and play outside!😂

I was out yesterday and it was quite hellish - everyone is noisier, smellier and more naked than usual, and the stench of cannabis is stronger and more pervasive than ever.

I do love the evening and night time though. Especially if we get a good thunderstorm - which I'm sure I can hear right now as I type.
