Anyone else hate this weather

Too hot to walk far with the buggy like I usually do to keep toddler confined and occupied. She's too young to enjoy the pool, she likes it for about 10 minutes then just gets out and crawls on the concrete. Super guilt for just sitting indoors doing nothing because it's so glorious outside. And the last straw...I'm in thick leggings and a baggy thick top because I'm too fat to get my legs and belly out. Humbug.

No I love it. Hope it stays like this until October just to piss off the ‘cosy, twinkly light and hot chocolate’ brigade,

Forestfriendlygarden · 11/06/2023 14:54

Mixed bag.

Like saving money and being able to use the washing line and the fact that my solar panels cover the dishwasher during the daytime.

LIke the fact we are fortunate that the bungalow is cool in the back, especially for DD.

Don't like the madness that such weather coincides with exam season for DD.

Usually love the tourists on the beach here and also the atmosphere - but I worry for those on the beach day after day with no protection and clearly looking like lobsters.

What? 🤣 Is the heat getting to you?

NeverThatSerious · 11/06/2023 14:58

Today the weather is pretty shit, I’d agree, muggy and humid and overcast, but the last few weeks of glorious sun and warm temperatures, oh that I love! We had months of rain and shitty weather, dragging mud in the house every time we opened the bloody door, it’s so depressing! At the moment tho, every day is spent in the garden with 18mo DS and we’re both loving it.
Sorry you don’t feel very comfortable wearing clothes that would be, well, comfortable in this weather. I guess it’s working out what is the lesser of two evils.

cigarettesNalcohol · 11/06/2023 15:01

I like warm weather don't get me wrong but it's was cold and windy last week with temperatures of 11 degrees, wearing a long sleeve and thick jumper with trousers and this week I'm sat outside in a bikini sweating buckets. Where did the in between temperatures go ?!

Clarabe1 · 11/06/2023 15:01

I don’t like it. I am ok with hot weather but the humidity is just horrid. Currently fuming because the irritating noisy fly that found his way in though an half inch wide open window now cannot seem to find his way out even though the window and door are fully open now. Stop buzzing your bastard!!

pillsthrillsandbellyache · 11/06/2023 15:02

Sorry OP I love it! Primark do some short sleeve slouchy tee's for £3.50. Loads of colours. Fab for when it's hot but you want to stay covered. Go up to a 24 I think.

Bournetilly · 11/06/2023 15:04

I hate it! Far too hot and I’m heavily pregnant with a toddler.

Hedjwitch · 11/06/2023 15:04

Nope. Love it. Long may it last.

Poochypaws · 11/06/2023 15:05

Scotland here. Had rain, some heavy this morning which we were badly needing. Back this afternoon to roasting heat and high humidity. This morning was first rain for about 3-4 weeks so badly needed.

Like the hot weather for getting washing dry on line (especially when ddog decides to vomit over duvet, rugs in middle of night!). Tomatoes and other veggies, fruit are growing are an alarming rate in conservatory with all the sun/heat so I suppose that is good.

Don't like feeling exhausted, drained, headachy and sweaty.

Best days - sunny but mild (not hot).

Had to buy 2 air conditioner units last year as so hot. Used them several times already this year. Got it on just now and last night. Best things I ever bought.

pillsthrillsandbellyache · 11/06/2023 15:06

They do shorts for £2.50 too. I dont get my legs out in public but wear them about the house and garden.

caramac04 · 11/06/2023 15:06

It’s a bit hot for getting much done but I far prefer long hot days to short, wet, cold ones for weeks and weeks on end.
I saw a larger young woman yesterday in a fabulous, colourful cotton dress with cycle shorts/leggings also brightly coloured. Topped with a hat and sunglasses with comfy sandals she looked absolutely fabulous. I wish I’d asked her where her dress was from.
OP can you stretch to a couple of cotton dresses or tunics with chub rub shorts or long legged knickers? Even slim girls get chub rub so there’s no embarrassment if they can be seen.

TeaWithOatMilk · 11/06/2023 15:08

How odd. 😬🤪

Its 31 here and I don’t love it. 23/24 is enough for me.

surejan24 · 11/06/2023 14:19

Fairly one dimensional view of things there. I'm very body conscious. I don't feel confident in many things and have a pretty set uniform of leggings and tops that I feel ok in. Consequently there isn't much else in my wardrobe and I haven't had the time or money to do a full summer shop for things I'll probably hate myself in anyway. HTH.

Find some harem trousers. MN hates them but honestly who cares. Cool, comfy, very size friendly.

Yetisrus · 11/06/2023 15:13

Love it when it's hot and sunny but it's muggy here today, that thunderstorm that they've been telling us was coming hasn't materialised and the water butt is getting empty so I could do with some rain before all my money flowers go to waste and die.

Tidsleytiddy · 11/06/2023 15:14

Bennyjoon · 11/06/2023 14:27

Absolutely agree with this.

I also hate the ‘expectation’ that we’re meant to enjoy the hot weather and be out and about doing stuff.

Be prepared for comments that anything over 40 degrees isn’t hot 🙄. (Anything over 20 degrees is uncomfortable for me - and yea, I do dress appropriately.)

Agree. I find it loathsome. Don’t know how anyone can pretend to love it

halfsiesonapotnoodle · 11/06/2023 15:15

It's truly awful and energy sapping. Dread it every year, but we're all different and I do understand some people love it. Why on earth people feel guilty and obliged to go out in it because its 'glorious' is beyond me. Just stay where you're comfortable FFS. Do you see horses and cows forcing themselves to stand in it, or seeking shade when it's hot? Just do what you prefer.

Thesunnymood · 11/06/2023 15:17

Mumsnet makes me understand why there is such large proportion of uk population with low vit D🙈

Me too 🥵I’m short of breath at the best of times let alone when it’s as humid as now.
We walked the dog before 7 this morning, keeping to shade as much as possible, yet the sweat was dripping off my hair and face. Highly unpleasant and uncomfortable.
Luckily we’ve had a bit of light rain and I’m hoping for more!
I sympathise OP, I’m wearing a huge cotton tee shirt and baggy shorts.

Bennyjoon · 11/06/2023 15:18

I don’t feel guilty or obliged to go out in hot weather but I’m sick of the assumptions that I should be out enjoying it and that I’m deranged if I don’t!

Lottapianos · 11/06/2023 15:19

I really enjoy each season as it comes, but I do struggle in the heat. For me that's anything over about 28 degrees. So glad we're missing the 30 degrees in London - there is nothing 'glorious' about that. We're in the South West and it's 22 today - just perfect

IncomingTraffic · 11/06/2023 15:20

It’s 21C here today with a light breeze. It’s very pleasant indeed.

Mingomang · 11/06/2023 15:21

All I want is 23 degrees all day, sunshine, gentle breeze and then a drop down to about 13 at night with a soft rain every night from about midnight to 5am.
I just don’t understand why we can’t just have that. It’s so sensible. The weather we have now is just massively inefficient.

I was having the same conversation with my husband earlier. What happened to the pleasant sunny, dry, late teens/early 20's days? Now it seems to be freezing or 30 and scorching (we are both hiding indoors today as our south facing garden is unbearable)

changeyerheadworzel · 11/06/2023 15:21

Absolutely HATE it. I see no good in it at all. I am miserable.
