Another dog attack

There is a horrific video on twitter of a young woman being attacked in east London by three dogs

owner in hoodie , pit bull types .

I am a dog owner but also have ended up in hospital after a dog attack and it made me feel sick

honestly I think we need dog licences , dog wardens and more accountability because the current laws don’t seem to be deterring people letting dogs off their leads and having no control . If it prices some owners out I am sorry tough luck . Dogs are expensive and there needs to be some more incentive to keep them under control .

I noticed the other day that Jersey still has dog licences. They cost the princely sum of £10 a year though, I'd make them at least ten times that amount.

I've said it on here before but if a dog attacks someone, the owner should be prosecuted for assault. If the dog kills someone, the owner should be prosecuted for manslaughter (and murder if they egged on the dog to attack but I imagine those cases are extremely rare).

I wouldn't sign anything trying to get Staffies banned.

Me neither!! We have one. He’s the gentlest, sweetest most obedient dog ever!
DH walks him off lead along the river. He walks by DH side. When DH spots people in the distance if he recognises them and knows their dogs our dog will wait for permission to run ahead and greet them. If DH doesn’t recognise them our dog will stand and wait for DH to put his lead on. He will let you take anything out of his mouth (including food) if you tell him “leave it”.

Just to add the dog is always on a lead everywhere else. It’s quiet along the river and our dog is trained to wait if there are people/dogs in the distance.

I know this thread hasn’t been posted on in a while but I have spent this afternoon in A&E having been attacked by a dog. It was a Staffie type dog which ran out of a house and went for me as I walked down the road. Owner couldn’t control him. I received several nasty bites on my thigh. I was terrified. Owner didn’t apologise or check I was ok. Some random men on the street were very very kind and went out of their way to drive me to get medical attention. Don’t know why I’m posting. I’m just more shaken than I thought I’d be. I don’t think I’ll be able to sleep. I love dogs but this was so unexpected and so vicious

I hope you have reported it to the police. That must have been really scary.

I did report. I was just so scared that he wouldn’t stop.
