Am I a Mooncup minger?

I use a Mooncup (actually a Boots copy one, but that’s beside the point). When I empty it, I pour the contents into the loo, then wash it out in the bathroom sink next to the toilet. Whenever I wash it out I think to myself that DP would probably find it gross that I’m washing it out where he washes his face/brushes his teeth etc. He could also walk in at any second, as we never lock the bathroom door, so there’s always the fear that I’m going to be outed as a Mooncup minger. Tbh he might think it’s a non-event.

I COULD turn the other way and wash it out in the bath, but that seems a bit overkill. Also… what do people do in their downstairs loos (which I don’t have)?!

So…

YABU - you’re a minger and should wash it out in the bath.

YANBU - it’s a normal bodily function (/fluid 😂) and it’s fine to wash it out in the sink.

Yanbu. I wouldn't think twice!

RightWhereYouLeftMe · 03/06/2023 19:50

I don't have one, but I wouldn't occur to me to wash it in the bath rather than the sink. Is that not acceptable?

MotherOfCatBoy · 03/06/2023 19:51

You’re overthinking it.
Sink.

GeraltsBathtub · 03/06/2023 19:52

I don’t understand the issue with doing it in the sink. Is he licking the sink when he cleans his teeth? The sink is also where you wash dirty hands, rinse cuts, spit into etc…

Dacadactyl · 03/06/2023 19:52

Don't see an issue with using the sink tbh

AndIKnewYouMeantIt · 03/06/2023 19:53

Sink, always! Or in the shower if I'm in there already.

Angelik · 03/06/2023 19:53

Unless your dh licks the sink as part of his ablutions, then yanbu

GoalShooter · 03/06/2023 19:54

I use the sink to wash mine.

Louise295 · 03/06/2023 19:55

Sink here too. But I have thought the same. 🤣

BriarHare · 03/06/2023 19:56

That’s utterly ridiculous.

Why is the bath more sanitary than the sink? You do know it all ends up in the same drain and I assume both the basin and the bath get cleaned?

DoingSomethingUnholy · 03/06/2023 19:57

I don't have one but I'd assume you don't install a separate sink to have one, much like I don't have a separate sink when my kids shit themselves etc. I just wash stuff in the nearest sink. Does your husband not realise you have periods?

Hairbrushhandle · 03/06/2023 19:58

This is what puts me off using one. How do you wash it out when at work? Use the sinks and then have to go back into a stall?

SnakesNLadders · 03/06/2023 19:58

Well I ring my period pants out in the sink…

SuperbSummer2023 · 03/06/2023 19:59

Where do you wash your hands when you've had a poi or changed your pad/tampon??

obviously just make sure you at least rinse the sink out.

weirdas · 03/06/2023 19:59

I use the sink!

SunnySaturdayMorning · 03/06/2023 20:00

I just think mooncups are grim in general 🤮

I don't need to. Only needs changing morning and evening.

DinoDaddy · 03/06/2023 20:02

I clean mine by boiling it in a saucepan. I also cook food in said saucepain. Obviously I wash it in-between uses.

I don’t need to usually, but if I did I’d just empty it and wipe it round with some toilet roll. I suppose you could take a water bottle in with you if it particularly bothered you.

Barleymilk · 03/06/2023 20:06

I tend to hold mine in the loo and flush and wash it that way.
Sounds even worse than using sink now I think about it.

Onepotatotwopotatothreepotatofour · 03/06/2023 20:07

@Barleymilk sorry…are you saying you wash your moon cup out with toilet water?!? 😱

OMG, I'd say you could get ill doing that. I'd start using the sink if I were you.

MooncupMinger · 03/06/2023 20:08

Haha, I’m glad I’m not being gross.. tbh I’ve had one for years and always washed it in the sink. Just had a thought the other day of “what would DP think if he walked in now?!”. He’s not a grossed out by periods type, so he would more than likely not bat an eyelid.

I have form for being a bit gross, so sometimes need a sense check 🤣. Thanks all

But DH brushes teeth so spits into the basin. I dont see how dirty-mouth spittle and elderly chewed food bits are perfectly acceptable where menstrual blood isnt?

You have a bottle of water handy and take it into the cubicle with you.
