I feel sick watching king charles

Mooshamoo · 06/05/2023 10:48

I don't want him as king. I feel sick watching a bit of the coronation this morning. I just caught a bit of it and I felt ill.

We are not subjects. It's 2023.
I don't want to be like an animal with an owner
I don't like the man. He has had so many scandals and bad friends. Why should he be allowed to rule over us.
This stuff shouldn't be going on in 2023.

Anyone think the same?

Are you a UK citizen? If you are, then there's very little you can do about the fact that Charles IS, in fact, 'your King' 🤦‍♀️

Sure, you might not like it, and can rant the day long about it if you wish...but as long as you are a UK citizen, then Charles III is your King 👍

If this is something that REALLY bothers you, you have the choice to relinquish your citizenship HTH 👍

Not sure the snidey, sneering comments dripping with passive aggression come across well.
It's fine to disagree- but what's the point of insulting random people on the internet? Or do you do this in real life?

treespouse · 06/05/2023 15:59

The lady singing at the beginning in the yellow dress was WOW!

Topseyt123 · 06/05/2023 16:00

He doesn't "rule over"anyone and neither did his mother. It is a CONSTITUTIONAL MONARCHY.

Maybe you need to get a grip of yourself. I assume nobody held a gun to your head and forced you to watch the coronation! Perhaps lie down in a darkened room for a while!

I don't have strong views on the monarchy one way or another but I do like a lot of the pageantry. I enjoyed watching it.

I think you are being a drama llama.

Don't be silly, he is not every individual's king at all. His position/status is king. He is a representative of the country, not all its people. He is a person with a particular status within this country and the rest of us happen to live in the same country as he does. I mean, if you want to be a purist about it, those who have sworn allegiance to that man can consider him "their" king if they so wish, I suppose. But the title means nothing to a lot of people as individuals free human beings.

He looks very old and small. I didn't realise how small.

He can’t help being old and he can’t help that he’s shrunk in old age. Perhaps the Queen should have abdicated earlier so Charles could start his reign younger.

Novella4 · 06/05/2023 16:07

@springintochaos

He is the king of older white English Tory women

That's his main demographic

An old man with no constitutional power who has more than served his apprenticeship and unless there’s something you’re not telling us there will be no change whatsoever in our daily lives.
He was married off to the only remaining virgin in the shire, a woman he didn’t love. If you have a child would you and those nearest to you treat them in such a way that they feel they have no choice but to comply. He didn’t apply for the role of king, whether you like him or not he’s the one who’s going to be staring at you from coins, banknotes and stamps. Take comfort from the fact that King Charles III probably won’t even get a silver jubilee.

@KitKatLove I do. Bring on William.

SpringIntoChaos · 06/05/2023 16:20

@Novella4 🤣 well I've been a lifelong labour voter, and I'm black, so that blows your utterly bizarre statement wide open 🤷‍♀️

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

To be the centre of attention and be multimillionaires…. No, they don’t want that at all.

They don't want to be crowned.

Bizarre, I’m only in my 40s I know no spring chicken - but!!! I’m a floating voter, I think I’ve given my vote to all the main parties. I was a paid up member of Labour at one time.

What do you want? A president? Spiritual Leader?

Anyone democratically elected would be great.

As they are just figureheads and representatives of the country, why couldn't we have someone we decide. A nice kind person who has earned this kind of position and who is cap dothers actually want.

We could keep the constitutional role, we don't have to a president. We can just cut all the ridiculous expensive crap and the tedious, unwarranted sycophancy.

I haven't t watched a single minute of it. It can be done ✔️

He looked like he was about to pass out and faint. There was fear in his eyes at points.

To me he looked like he would rather be somewhere else, but that he had to do it out of duty. But maybe he just felt terrified in front of millions of people on the day. And is quite happy being king.

who knows.

I think prince harry did say once that "nobody in my family wants to be king".

Bow down to your king! Do not questions those bestowed glory from God ! Oh and send your Aunt his blessings.

littlefirecar · 06/05/2023 17:23

I'm in agreement with you OP but YABU for adding to the viewing figures that they'll use to say how popular the royals are (despite most people watching out of curiosity and nothing more)

Dramatic much you do realise that it doesn’t matter what or anyone else thinks we will always have a royal family whether you like it or not it isn’t something that you get to yes or no to. Get a grip and enjoy the extra day off the work the coronation for a king that you don’t want got you unless you’re planning on giving that up as well and going into work on Monday morning.

Yes, quite.

I'm not bothered either way about the monarchy but I don't think that Boris Johnson, Jeremy Corbyn, Joe Biden or Donald Trump are great advertisements for so-called democratic elections.

Don't watch then
Lots of people aren't interested.

But we still have to pay for it!

You are allowed to not like him but you’re not a subject and you are not owned by him either.

Exactly this.

I am ambivalent on monarchy v republic personally

The problem in this country is the absolute twats that we keep electing not the royal family per se

IWanderedLonely · 06/05/2023 18:05

You could always move to a republic, I believe Russia's nice this time of year.
