I feel sick watching king charles

Mooshamoo · 06/05/2023 10:48

I don't want him as king. I feel sick watching a bit of the coronation this morning. I just caught a bit of it and I felt ill.

We are not subjects. It's 2023.
I don't want to be like an animal with an owner
I don't like the man. He has had so many scandals and bad friends. Why should he be allowed to rule over us.
This stuff shouldn't be going on in 2023.

Anyone think the same?

What the hell has it got to do with you what she's doing? I haven't seen any of it this morning, but I had intended to take a quick look. Why wouldn't we be curious to see what was going on? We just wouldn't be watching it with the devotion that you clearly have.

Thank you!

"felt ill" because she saw a bit of the coronation! God help the country with feeble people like this!

You know what she means. It's a (quite British) turn of phrase not a literal event.

WeeblesWobbled · 06/05/2023 13:47

Right. I'm going back to my chores. Thanks for posting @Mooshamoo - it makes me feel that i am not alone.

True he wanted to divorce Catherine of Aragon as she couldn’t provide a male heir. And there was something about funding the War of the Roses too I think. So he had to break with the Catholic Church to allow both of those things to happen.

Neither here nor there. C&M shouldn’t have carried on while they were both married.

Of course they shouldn't have.

But the fact that they did isn't incompatible with him being the head of the Church of England. It's pretty much the reason why it exists.

He looks very old and small. I didn't realise how small.

Agree with this!

You're welcome. Have a nice day. I hope that you do something nice after the chores.

Fascist degree of control over the BBC coverage. Barely any focus on Kate and the kids or on Harry. That's why I have been listening more than watching.

I imagine they are quite relieved about that

loislovesstewie · 06/05/2023 13:52

If we're going to be pedantic, should the king have the title 'defender of the faith'? It was given to Henry viii as he defended the pope. So Charles is hardly defending the papacy is he?

Malarandras · 06/05/2023 13:54

If you feel sick try an anti-tablet. Cetrizine works pretty well.

nidgey · 06/05/2023 13:55

What a crazy waste of money

The Pope is catholic though.

TwinkleSprite · 06/05/2023 13:57

The land alone that it could free up for social housing....

They're not going to covert/demolish a historic asset to provide social housing. Nor land or any other properties

anunlikelyseahorse · 06/05/2023 13:57

Ps Henry VIII didn't get on very well with the pope...that's putting it mildly!

MammaTo · 06/05/2023 13:58

I fully agree.

I can’t get my head around people that really get on board with the monarchy and see them as higher beings and above reproach.
I can see why people enjoy the pageantry of it all, but in terms of believing that Charles is our “King” and we must bow and curtsy as a mark of respect, nah it doesn’t sit right wi the me.

PotteringPondering · 06/05/2023 13:58

Completely agree with your post, OP. Nice to feel less isolated in this view – I find nothing interesting or uplifting about any of it.

Hang on, one positive: plenty of parking at Waitrose at 11.30 this morning.

emmylousings · 06/05/2023 14:02

I don't feel sick but I do feel angry. The RF are billionaire tax dodgers, who intervene to amend laws to ensure us plebs don't know the extent of their wealth and sponging off the uk state. I actually think Charles is a reasonably decent human being but that's not the point. I want a royal family like other European countries have...where they're just a posh family without all the state subsidies and ridiculous private wealth. The sight of plebs cheering them...its just pathetic.

gogohmm · 06/05/2023 14:04

It's ceremonial, and it's optional whether to watch. I'm pretty indifferent to be honest but it's a bit dramatic to watch it then say it makes you feel sick!

Sunflowers80 · 06/05/2023 14:06

Tinktravels · 06/05/2023 11:25

I am loving watching. Very proud moment for us.

That's so embarrassing 😳 is that all you got to be proud of you. Clowns dressed up in silly suits. A prince whos friend was a Child trafficker and another one who took advice from a serial pedophile..shameful really.

3dogsandarabbit · 06/05/2023 14:06

Watched it and found it very interesting, so much history and tradition behind it. Nobody does pomp and ceremony like us.

Florenz · 06/05/2023 14:06

Damn those "plebs" for being happy. Don't they know they should be angry and shouting abuse at the King?

BringMeTea · 06/05/2023 14:07

Grow up OP.

bridgetreilly · 06/05/2023 14:07

You’re welcome to start campaigning for a change in our constitution to end the monarchy, or indeed to start a revolution. But since you are in a minority, don’t expect to be successful.

@DarrellRiversCriminalBehaviourOrder

COE exists because Catholicism didn’t permit divorce and a legitimate heir requires marriage. Also Henry resented wealth being passed to Rome and having riches holed up in churches.

Not because of adultery.

Charles being defender of the faith is incompatible with his life history. To be blunt he should have kept it in his pants until divorced or at least separated. He has been very overindulged in life.

Do you actually understand the British constitution? At all ?

what ruling has the monarchy made ( not the government) that has stopped you doing anything you want ?

just don’t watch it and campaign for the monarchy to be abolished . Because you can if you want you know ?

But take into account that the income from the Crown estates ( which they don’t own by the way ) exceeds the cost to the tax payers .

we are are lucky to live in a country that has so many freedoms compared with others . Including you are allowed to speak your opinion and others are allowed to support the Royal family and all the charitable work they do is they wish .

Was jjst talking with mum watching it abroad and they had live cover and she said exactly the same about the pomp😁 She also found it interesting! Tbh this may be only British coronation in her life if Charles sticks in another 20 years too so it's interesting to watch even for non brits. Both had bbc on, skype nad googling😂
