Dogs peeing on car tyres

whyareallthegoodonesgone · 20/04/2023 10:09

Put on AIBU for traffic-
need some advice-
how do I word a message to put on road WhatsApp group?
basically- we have 2 cars- one on drive one outside our hedge on road
daily approx 2-3 times a day- someone is letting their dog pee on the car tyres.
firstly- disgusting. Why??? Just why??? Secondly there are bushes, verges and trees all along the road!
I am sick of cleaning it constantly now.
we have a child with severe contact anaphylactic allergies- we don’t even use that car unless it’s myself or hubby using it alone.
I don’t know who it is that’s doing it.
so wanted to compose a message to put on the road WhatsApp group that doesn’t come across as a doormat or being bitchy either.
appreciate any replies x

That is ridiculous. Presumably your kids don’t lick the car tyres?? What if you drive over some wee?!

Heartsnrainbows · 20/04/2023 10:11

Thing is, it might not be someone who lives on your road. Could be someone just walking by. It's absolutely gross though, I'd never let my dog do that.

Is there any way you could fit both cars on your driveway?

ItsCalledAConversation · 20/04/2023 10:12

How can you tell? Have you seen them doing it?

Id put a sign on the car, but it does seem a disproportionate response.

ApolloandDaphne · 20/04/2023 10:12

Dogs just pee randomly, I don't think someone is purposefully 'letting' their dog pee on your car. How do you even know this? Surely the pee just dries up or washes away in the rain. I'm not sure it is any more disgusting than birds shitting on cars which can't be stopped.

Daffodil92 · 20/04/2023 10:14

If my dog went to pee on someone’s car, I’d tug him away to a bush etc.
However I don’t really know what your kids allergies have to do with it.

whyareallthegoodonesgone · 20/04/2023 10:17

It could very well be someone not from the road- but there are quite a few on the road that do dogs walks 3/4 times a day- and I know it’s been peed on by a dog as I’ve come back from doing the school run to walk past other car to see the pee on the tyre and road/pavement- but this is happening a few times a day every day

Bloody ridiculous. Pretty sure you've driven over worse than dog's pee!

DrMeredithGrey2023 · 20/04/2023 10:18

It's not ideal, I always steer my dog away from cars, bins, etc as it's not really very neighbourly to let your dog piss on other peoples property....but I couldn't 100% say he's never had a quick cock of the leg.

I don't really think that your daughter allergies are relevant though

whyareallthegoodonesgone · 20/04/2023 10:19

There are trees planted every 3rd house, bushes for almost every house yet this is the only spot someone can find for their dog to do it’s business?

SquashPenguin · 20/04/2023 10:22

Are you parking your car on your living room carpet? Serving food off the car tyres? I’m totally lost as to why this is a problem.

ejbaxa · 20/04/2023 10:22

I don't think the OP is being ridiculous given that it is several times a day! That means, permanently soaked in piss which may be acidic and corrode metal parts.

If it was a one off, then it's no big deal. What a lazy, disrespectful society we live in - many think it's ok to continually let their dog piss over someone's property like this. I wouldn't let my dog do it - not even once.

Saddlesore · 20/04/2023 10:22

Please don't send a message. You don't want to be "that" person, especially in a close community.

I get that it annoys you to find pee on your car tyre, but I think you should just let it go. It's a car tyre. Every time you drive the car the tyres are in contact with much much worse things than dog pee.

Most dogs don't wee on command and so owners aren't directing their dogs to wee on bushes etc.

Car tyres are filthy anyway from exhaust fumes, mud, the remains of roadkill, and general dirt from the floor. This isn't something that would take up any headspace. Don't let your child touch the tyres and you'll be fine.

SoupDragon · 20/04/2023 10:23

we have a child with severe contact anaphylactic allergies

How is that relevant?

I have a dog and I don't think he's ever peed on a car wheel or even tried to. I suppose once one dog has done it the scent remains and they all do it.

I assume you've not pissed someone off with bad parking that means they're making a point? Seems odd otherwise

GiveMyHeadPeaceffs · 20/04/2023 10:23

I'm really sorry but this seems like such a weird thing to get uptight about. If I got a message from a neighbour about dogs peeing on tyres I'd think they were a bit mad. I'm not sure why dog pee on a tyre would affect your child's allergy.

FeltedDogs · 20/04/2023 10:24

I rather like it when I sew a neighborhood cat pee on my tyres. I like to think I am worth the effort of owning and marking. 😀 I probably wouldn't let my dogs pee on someone's car if I was walking them but I wouldn't go out weilding a rolling pin if someone else's did. 😅

Neededanewuserhandle · 20/04/2023 10:25

Aren't you worried about all the cat piss?

NeatCompactSleeper · 20/04/2023 10:27

Total peak Mumsnet! 😂😂

I'll actually be disappointed if this one doesn't make the tabloids.

whyareallthegoodonesgone · 20/04/2023 10:27

@ejbaxa thank you, exactly my point, one offs ok fair enough- but daily 2-3 times a day- especially when I’ve even washed the car!

Random789 · 20/04/2023 10:29

Unless the severe contact anaphylactic allergies are in any way triggered by the presence of dog wee on a car tyre, YABU.
How many gazillion times more hazardous are car exhaust fumes to a child with asthma (or any child) than a trace of dry dog wee?

whyareallthegoodonesgone · 20/04/2023 10:29

@SoupDragon the road is white wide and everyone has a drive- no ‘pissing’ anyone off for any parking issues- we have 2 cars- the neighbours next door have 8.

OP posts:
AndrexPuppy · 20/04/2023 10:30

It’s a weird thing to worry about, tbh.

However, once one dog pees on the tyre, it becomes attractive to other dogs to pee on it. It’s a form of communication for dogs, they all like to leave little messages for each other. There’s not a lot you can do about dogs peeing on the type of a car parked on the roadside.

whyareallthegoodonesgone · 20/04/2023 10:31

*quite

OP posts:
NetballHoop · 20/04/2023 10:33

I honestly don't think I've ever checked to see if a dog has weed on my car. In fact, I don't ever look at the tyres.

FranksOcean · 20/04/2023 10:33

🤣🤣🤣 this has got to be the best yet
