Dalai llama ask a child to suck his tongue

Has anyone seen the new video of the Dalai Llama asking a child to suck his tongue. Yes. It sounds bizarre. But it is in the news right now. The video is out there. And the dalai llama is apologising on social media now

Im devastated! I went to see the Dalai Llama in India. He gave a speech on accepting and loving everyone, and that it didn't matter what religion we are. I always told people that it was one of the highlights of my life.

I went through life thinking he was a good person, that he was one of the good ones. To see this today, makes me think oh no is he yet another abuser.

Some people have remarked about this video that sticking your tongue out at someone is a greeting in Tibet.

However - the Dalai Llama kisses the child on the lips in the video, and asks the child to suck his tongue. It does not look right at all.

He has apologised on twitter now.

What do you all think?

An investigation would only be useful in the absence of clear evidence of WHAT he did. Since we have clear evidence of WHAT he did, there aren't any facts to be established.

Within a corrupt legal system, an investigation would only benefit the perpetrator by allowing him to justify his pedophilic actions to reduce his punishment. It wouldn't help the children who have been victims. It might help to salvage the reputation of the DL and his movement which is why I expect you would like one.

An investigation in India would be utterly useless because it would be rigged in favour of a man who generates wealth via tourism and deprive the victims of the justice/compensation they would probably get within a less corrupt legal system.

Exactly, you don’t really care about investigating or facts. You don’t care that a crime has two components - action + intent- that have to be investigated and assessed per ours and India’s justice system.

You think actions alone are enough.

Investigation into the why does help victims though. It makes a difference to us as to whether the harm we suffered was done intentionally or unintentionally.

Take for example, you kill your neighbours cat. You did it, that is the fact of what happened. But intent needs to be established as to whether you intentionally killed the cat or accidentally killed the cat. Why you killed the cat does matter because we rightly judge and punish intentional harm more harshly than unintentional harm.

Hiding in plain sight. Under the cover of mischief and fun.

With pedophilia, the intent can never make a difference. If the action is there (which it is) then they are guilty of violating a child's body and rights.

Oh dear

New video of the DL appearing to touch Lady Gaga inappropriately during a TV interview on Twitter [sorry can't post the link] it's 9 hours ago @ OliLondonTV

Can't vouch for the this not being fake but of all the many many pics on Twitter of the DL it looks the most concerning

He appears to slide his hand across the sofa towards Lady Gaga (can’t see his hand so no idea if he actually touched her or not). She notices him leaning and reaching, he lifts his hand (so it’s back on camera). She takes his hand in both her hands over her lap in a handclasp for a moment and that’s the end of the video.

I suppose only Lady Gaga can say for sure what happened and hopefully she will clarify.

sealon82 · 13/04/2023 11:31

He touches her leg, through the rip in her jeans. He then try's to repeat and she holds onto his hand to stop him.

GingerbreadBaking · 13/04/2023 11:32

Lady Gaga is grabbing the hand if a man who isn't her love and pulling it next to her crotch whilst they are on stage?

No woman would accused another woman of doing that.

I hope she does

Sudeko · 13/04/2023 11:34

You can tell that she isn't comfortable because she shakes her head very briefly. The hand is approaching the crotch and she takes control of the situation as you would expect. A child from a poor community in India would not know those boundaries. They would not even be aware that they were allowed to refuse.

CordyLines · 13/04/2023 11:35

He tries it on LGG's leg and moves in for the crotch. Obvious to me anyway. The discomfort and uncomfortable laughing by LGG is difficult to watch. In plain sight again.

GingerbreadBaking · 13/04/2023 11:35

Only a man would think women grab hands of random men to touch their vagina area as it is a male fantasy, women don't do that.

A tiny minority of women when drunk may grap a dream boys hand and do such a thing at such an event.

A minoroty drunk lusty woman may do that with her new lover.

It's just not something woman do with strange old random men.

Sudeko · 13/04/2023 11:37

I hope there are people trawling through acres of footage as we speak. He obviously is a high ranking magician because he has hidden it in plain sight for years and got a thrill from even fooling the cameras.

I agree. Who has said that? Was that on the Twitter feed?

With pedophilia, the intent can never make a difference. If the action is there (which it is) then they are guilty of violating a child's body and rights.

Legally speaking though, from a criminal culpability standpoint, intent always makes a difference. You may wish it didn’t, but it does to the justice system.

pickledandpuzzled · 13/04/2023 11:51

He uses a pokey movement of his finger to touch her leg- the kind of gesture an elderly person would use to 'perform' bewilderment at 'fashion these days'. He then reaches for the wrist of her other hand and she puts her second hand on his, on her wrist. She laughs at him.

That is nothing like the groping actions of some celebrities.

If the sex cult thing was known about before he spoke there, then that's wrong. If the DLs team were as ignorant as everyone else about the nature of the sex cult then they can't be blamed for their association.

But I will happily wait for more.

I'm a bit surprised at Ollie jumping on it, to be honest.

Is there more out there yet?

Sudeko · 13/04/2023 11:55

So the dementia had taken hold this far back are you saying? I mean, touching a woman seated a distance away from you while she is focused on something else is weird. he spots the thigh, his thoughts move to the crotch and with a great effort (as an old codger) he manages to get hold of some younger flesh.

Ignoring the dementia ‘this far back’ bit because I haven’t said it.

How do you know he is thinking about Lady Gaga’s crotch?

Sudeko · 13/04/2023 12:04

Unless his hand has a different brain? In fairness, a lot of attention was being drawn to Lady Gaga exhibiting her body during that time, mainly by Lady Gaga's own PR. However, your average American would know to look, not touch but the fact that he looked and then insisted on touching so publicly is troubling.

onirgellep · 13/04/2023 12:33

I think it's ambiguous - and clearly open to interpretation

I agree it's got an element of elderly grandad teasing a teenage grand-daughter
and Lady Gaga reflexively grabbing his hand on the second attempted touch

However. my understanding from travelling in Thailand is that touching Buddhist monks is strictly forbidden eg not permitted to sit next to them on the bus etc. There is huge gap between them on the sofa.

And of course he touches her not the other way round

They did some work together in the states in 2016/7 - does this clip look older than that?

onirgellep · 13/04/2023 12:37

Sorry that's not very clear - it's about women not touching monks

Totally agree with this. I have no interest in protecting him, simply in knowing.

onirgellep · 13/04/2023 12:39

TokyoStories · 13/04/2023 12:36

Lady Gaga appears to have met him a number of times:

https://www.theguardian.com/music/video/2016/jun/28/lady-gaga-dalai-lama-china-video

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=IrYpqQQ6_1M

They’re clearly friendly. The exchange in the video posted above just looks like a ‘what is going on with your jeans?!!’ elderly bewilderment, as someone else said. Not everything is abuse.

Ah he's holding her hand!

Maybe I've got it all wrong

Sudeko · 13/04/2023 12:43

The "Is he? Isn't he?" confusion was also generated by Saville. Many of his victims didn't even know whether they were being abused while it was happening to them. It takes many years of practice for a pervert to graduate to that I'd have thought. The DL is 100x more powerful than Saville. Even Gaga (who was a superstar at the time) recognised his hold in the situation.

pickledandpuzzled · 13/04/2023 12:44

I didn't know about the touching thing, @onirgellep.

And he absolutely isn't your average American.

There is an interesting dichotomy about the wisdom or naïveté of mystics/secluded people. Nuns and monks being portrayed as surprisingly wise because of their lifestyle rather than despite it. But that's probably only fictional representation to be honest.

I know people who met the DL at a council event in my city years ago- there's a photo which is displayed in the council state rooms. They found him remarkable. But obviously that's what they were expecting to find.

onirgellep · 13/04/2023 13:33

I think it's probably like the not touching anointed medieval kings in europe - whilst they could freely touch others

So if the DL touches a woman or holds her hand that's okay because he initiated it but forbidden the other way round
