To share my unmumsnetty traits?

These are a few things about me that's probably at odds with the predominant Mumsnet demographic :

  1. My DP went to one of the worst schools in London, his accent is very 'Blimey, Gav'nah' he left school at the minimum school leaving age with very low academic qualifications
  1. We don't have broadband as a family
  1. We never use Amazon as a family

Not having broadband or Amazon is at odds with the UK demographic, they're hardly particular to MN!

My kids go to crap schools. I dont shop at ocado or waitrose.
I dont have savings
I dont have a pension
My house is falling apart
My kids do like one extra curricular and I cant afford a tutor

I'm not English.

Or middle class

Or a tory.

Or have a toddler /baby/primary school age child

I'm not a sahm and have my own money

I expect my dh to do a fair share of parenting and housework and not be a prick.

He does not earn 100k.

I think MN demographics have changed. I was accused of washing my hair, bedding and towels too frequently.

I cancelled Broadband in 2018 to try and save money.

With Amazon - just not in the habit of doing online shopping at all - so I Covid lockdowns - no supermarket deliveries whatsoever or Deliverioo - nothing

I don't think smacking a child on the bottom occasionally is 'abuse'.

Broadband is funny one because I presume you have mobile data instead... which can be just as efficient or even faster.

I didn't live with my husband before marrying him... I'm only 36!

I'm not middle class.
My kids grew up In a council flat.
Had 3 kids by the age of 20.
Never been or wanted to be a SAHM.
Can answer my front door anytime without panicking.
Can drive on the motorway with no issues.
Get on great with my MIL.

@Katesdeadbehindtheeyes how did you have 3 kids by 20 and never stayed at home? who looked after them? did you mean you worked 5 hours a week or something? or worked with family who let you bring baby?

I never wash towels after one use

We had kids before we married.

We don't vote Tory.

We don't have a mortgage.

I don't have a group of gal pals I can go on group Air BnB holidays with and then come on here to moan about someone not contributing towards drinks/dropping out/ taking the biggest bedroom. Neither can I contribute to said threads with my own anecdotes from the past. The closest I've gotten to that were uni ski holidays all squashed in one room, sharing pot noodles whilst frying a prepackaged omlette on the one hob and pouring out the vodka each of us packed into our fancy dress filled baggage. 🤣
