These are a few things about me that's probably at odds with the predominant Mumsnet demographic :

  1. My DP went to one of the worst schools in London, his accent is very 'Blimey, Gav'nah' he left school at the minimum school leaving age with very low academic qualifications
  1. We don't have broadband as a family
  1. We never use Amazon as a family

They did say it, and they’re wrong too!

These threads are always the epitome of I’m not like other girls, it is like school. Which is fine but own it Grin

I said it due to the multiple negative comments I’ve seen on here aimed towards working mothers, including myself.

I don’t see how my experience of mn can be ‘wrong’.

ChiefWiggumsBoy · 04/04/2023 22:44

I open the door - and answer the phone - even when I'm not expecting someone.

I let my kids have pretty much unlimited time on their Xboxes but I have strict parental controls on them.

I don't have a high earning husband.

I sleep trained my babies and - surprise! - none of them actually remember it let alone has it had any sort of behavioural influence on them. It did mean I was able to sleep by the time I was back at work.

I have a lot of debt but I'm happy we can easily service it. I like the fact I have the option to buy stuff I want now and pay it off later.

I'm in a mood this evening, sorry if I've pissed anyone off.

Butteralwaysmeltsaway · 04/04/2023 22:50

I use a loo brush.

I live off grid. Only utility bill is water.

I don't have a mortgage.

I went to public school but am not killing myself in a profession, working every hour I can, earning zillions just to put into savings and a pension......for the future.

My hobby is my job, I'm my own boss and don't commute.

I wouldn't dream of holidaying abroad as my carbon footprint matters.

I don't own anything from Boden.

I don't wash my towels daily and only change my bed sheets once a week.

I don't have broadband.

I know ALL my neighbours.

Oakyloaky · 04/04/2023 22:56

I don’t get argumentative on a thread that is light hearted 😊

reddwarfgeek · 04/04/2023 23:00

I'm from a rough northern town that people joke about for being shit.
I haven't been to London for over a decade.
My DD goes to bed very late and doesn't sleep much.
I have no problem answering the door, driving on motorways.
I smoke occasionally.

Staygoldponyboystaygold · 04/04/2023 23:06

I’m overweight
l can’t remember when I last washed my bra

Justcallmebebes · 04/04/2023 23:13

I don't wear a clean pair of pj's every night and nor do I wear knickers to bed

PogoThePunk · 04/04/2023 23:54

I've never owned or worn a pair of pyjamas.
I have two loo brushes.
I love visitors and phone calls, whether they're expected or not.
My kids were slurping tea at six months and coffee at three, with the odd glass of cola thrown in.
They also had sugar coated cereal for breakfast daily
My kids were formula fed.
I hate salad and fruit.
I reheat left over anything, including rice the next day.
I love my late parents in law and I have a framed photo of them on my bedside table.
I get on great with my daughter in law's and I have unlimited access to the grandkids, including overnight stays and taking them on holiday.

Anotheroverreaction · 05/04/2023 00:04

@JMSA can we be friends please?

I’ll add: I’m vegan, vote Lib Dem & have never ironed! My husband is also very nice

girlfriend44 · 05/04/2023 00:27

I don't judge people in age gap relationships and I don't mind if people say darling or love to you I think they are nice and it puts you at ease and it better than being grumpy and horrible.

Judgyjudgy · 05/04/2023 00:29

I'm friendly to people, have lots of friends, like socialising and enjoy going into the office.

PlinkPlonkFizz · 05/04/2023 00:30

I hate massive salads.

I am aware I'm gaining weight, eat way too much sugar and butter and care very little about this.

We swear in front of the kids and don't mind if they swear too.

My MIL is fab although MN would have gone NC many times over with her, but I forgive her as I'm not perfect either.

LemonTT · 05/04/2023 00:32

JKTrolling · 04/04/2023 18:49

I don’t spy on my husbands phone.
I couldn’t care less if he texts a female friend from work.
I read adult books.
I spend a lot of money on travel.
I’m not into wine o’clock.
I manage to keep it together if I don’t get a thank you card.
I’m happy to shop in M&S.
I own designer handbags.
I don’t shop in Aldi.
I don’t curtain twitch my neighbours.
I take in parcels for my neighbours.
I manage to get through most days without being triggered or clutching my pearls.
I couldn’t care less what someone else names their child.
I never encounter this random man that everyone talks about.

I think you are me.

RobertaFirmino · 05/04/2023 00:33

I use a bog brush.
I think transwomen are women. They aren't female though.
I'm not bothered about being called 'cis'.
I love football.
I think MIL is OK.
I'm not keen on Toast, Hush or Sezane.

dottypotter · 05/04/2023 00:39

No broadband. No netflix. Couldn't care less.
Never get takeaways. Hate them.

TealSapphire · 05/04/2023 03:10

I wasn't gifted as a child.

My kids aren't 'very bright', just average.

If I accidentally get sent an additional item in an online order I don't drive two hours and pay $50 to return it. I keep it.

I swear a lot. My kids do too.

CoalCraft · 05/04/2023 06:32

I don't eat veg at all, let alone a salad

I don't have Facebook or Insta but I do have Reddit as a guilty pleasure.

I don't believe in too many extra curricular activities for kids. One or two that they actually like is fine.

I don't drink or wear makeup, ever.

Most of my friends are men (by virtue of my main hobby being male dominated).

I feel no automatic sense of connection or "sistership" with other women and do not feel on danger around strange men.

I have a nice, mostly reasonable MIL!
