Putting a poop in your bin

PoopInYourBin · 25/03/2023 12:44

Walking the dog to the vets, she poops, I tie it up in a poop bag and then put it in a wheelie bin which is kerbside for emptying. Owner of the bin threatened to call the police.

YABU don’t put poop in my bin
YANBU it’s tied up, not a problem

@LondonPretty you don't own your bin tbf. The council does. You're loaning it.

This argument makes me 🙄🙄 so hard.

I don't own my house either; I pay to rent it every month. Does this mean anyone can enter it and use it as they please?

Similarly I don't legally own my car yet; it's on a hire purchase agreement. Again, can anyone do what they like with it because I'm merely its registered keeper and not the legal owner?

No. So it's no different with my household bin, is it, which I also rent from the council.

By that logic if you rent a house it's fine for someone to come in use your facilities without asking. You don't own it after all.

sukiwh · 26/03/2023 09:36

Did you laugh in their face when they said they’d call the police? Hope so.

More councils are putting these bins in parks and public places.

Our councils getting rid of ours! Too expensive and goes in the same place as the rest of the rubbish apparently

CC4712 · 26/03/2023 18:18

@PoopInYourBin - where do you live OP? Please share your address, so I can throw dog poo, general waste and any other random crap in YOUR bin!!!

I assume other than dog poo - you generally think everyone elses wheelie bin is for your own, personal use to throw anything into???

kitsuneghost · 26/03/2023 18:34

YABU doesn't cover it. You are utterly disgusting putting shit (and dog shit at that) in someone else's property.

I have accepted that I got it wrong. You do realise that I didn’t actually shit in their bin myself. It was a small dog poo, in a black scented pedigree brand dog waste bag which was double knotted. I don’t know if you know much about dog waste bags but these are the best ones that you can buy as they are thick and unlike many others I’ve never known one split and the scent of the bag does mask the smell of the contents. I don’t think everyone’s bin is for my personal use, I just happened to be passing a bin at the same time as my dog relieved itself, had I already passed the bin it wouldn’t have happened and I would have carried it until I then arrived at the vets and disposed of it there. I put the bag in a bin, I didn’t trespass , fling it at their house, hang it off a tree or just leave the poo for someone to step in.
Wind your neck in.

Oh aye. Isn't this one of those generic threads guaranteed lots of clicks and froths from a one-time poster?

AlwaysLatte · 26/03/2023 21:13

eh? What processing do you do to your dogshit before putting it in the bin?
I don't put individual poo bags loose in it. For one thing they could split or get stuck at the bottom and left behind on bin day and for another they just stink and attract flies. I have a separate lined small fly-proof bin for the bags and on bin day morning I can put the larger bag in the wheelie bin. All biodegradable bags. Far fewer flies.

AlwaysLatte · 26/03/2023 21:14

What’s the difference between putting it in a public bin and your own?
Well the point is it wasn't their own bin.

Walkaround · 26/03/2023 21:21

Since councils can fine you for putting the wrong things in your bin, and it is not generally considered acceptable to toss little bags of dog poo in your bin, and is utterly vile to do that in someone else’s, obvious the OP wbu. Dog poo bins are completely separate from general waste bins for a reason.

CC4712 · 26/03/2023 21:24

Hmm, if someone left poo in MY wheelie bin- I honestly wouldn't know if it was your own turd, or your dogs!?!?

Black scented you say, and pedigree, plus there was a double knot! WHOW OP, this is SO impressive. I'm in awe for your impressive poo bag prowess- but complete lack of any common sense to know that you don't throw your shit in other peoples bins!

Wind your neck in Yes, of course @PoopInYourBin I'm clearly the one in the wrong here 😂

Walkaround · 26/03/2023 21:25

(Public general waste bins, that is, not ones that are the responsibility of specific households).

mondaytosunday · 26/03/2023 21:26

@Walkaround any public bins are fine for dog waste - it doesn't have to be a specific red bin.
I have two dogs and I've never put it in someone's bin. I take it home and put it in mine if there are no public bins nearby. And, if there are and it's overflowing, I would not put it in there either.

Threads like this just absolutely and completely reaffirm the difference between country and town.

I am almost giving you a medal if you bag poo and put it in my bin. Rather than leaving it "because it's a hill, field, forest" for sheep and cows to eat, for kids to stand in.

For hill walkers to moan at me about other peoples dog poo and perhaps I should clean it up.

I really, really cannot get upset about poo bagged in a bin.

And that's coming from me who has nailed up signs asking people to pick up poo by the river near us.

You need to ensure your signs specify that tying the bag of picked up poo to a tree branch is not a massive improvement over leaving it on the ground - at least people are expecting to have to avoid it on the ground 🤢

Twillow · 27/03/2023 18:43

It shouldn't be unreasonable, but being a poop even in a bag is clearly more emotive than general refuse, especially to a non-dog-lover.

QuintanaRoo · 27/03/2023 18:48

I live in the country. I have a dog. I have bags of dog poo in the bin. I’d still be a bit annoyed if you did this and I accept that’s not logical.

however if that person doesn’t have a dog I can see why they’d be really annoyed. Visions of dog shit germs in the bin. Which I know has other germs regardless

Schmutter · 27/03/2023 18:56

If my bin was kerbside and waiting for the bin men, I’d find it hard to be remotely bothered if someone put a filled poo bag in it.

I’d be somewhat peeved if someone did it when it was just on my drive. Our bin gets emptied every 2 weeks, and the poo bags are quite stinky by then.

Itsmyturnnow1 · 30/03/2023 10:55

Okunevo · 25/03/2023 15:09

It's poo in a bag, just keep it in your pocket until you get home!

Big difference between having shit in your pocket and shit in a bin outside! My Mum forgot once she put it in her pocket and put the coat away.. weeks later she wondered where smell was coming from!
