Putting a poop in your bin

PoopInYourBin · 25/03/2023 12:44

Walking the dog to the vets, she poops, I tie it up in a poop bag and then put it in a wheelie bin which is kerbside for emptying. Owner of the bin threatened to call the police.

YABU don’t put poop in my bin
YANBU it’s tied up, not a problem

OP posts:
EverySporkIsSacred · 25/03/2023 13:08

If the bin was going to be emptied then YANBU. The designated poop bins are emptied into the back of the same bin trucks, it shouldn't be an issue. I would be fine with other dog walkers using my bin in this way.
If it was empty and waiting to be taken back into the garden, then YABU because any rubbish put in on top of it would potentially split the bag and...yeah totally gross.

Threatening to call the police was an overreaction but I guess they don't own a dog themselves and found the idea of sh!t in their bin disgusting. Which it is.

Well that’s me told. I have only done it a couple of times before but won’t do it again after reading the comments. Never confronted though. I did say sorry.

0 I've sometimes considered this when it's next day collection and they're out on the pavement anyway but have never done it. To be fair can't see the practical issue in doing it but I've still held back.

Twizbe · 25/03/2023 13:11

I wouldn't call the police but I would be pissed off.

Bag your dog's poo and put it in your own or a public bin.

LivingDeadGirlUK · 25/03/2023 13:11

I think its a shitty (ba-dum-tish!) thing to do because as its not gone in a big bin liner the owner could chuck something on top of it, splitting the bag and maybe coating the inside of the bin with dog poo.

youbitchesaretwats · 25/03/2023 13:12

Wouldn't bother!

ShowOfHands · 25/03/2023 13:13

This is a really good example of the "op automatically in the wrong" mentality on aibu. As pp said, when a bin owner asked exactly the same question recently, the responses went overwhelmingly, the other way.

Scarlettpixie · 25/03/2023 13:13

I would have no problem with this but a lot if people (on mumsnet) do so I wouldn’t do it. Putting a poo bag on top of rubbish about to be emptied literally affects noone. Putting one in an empty bin might result in the bag getting ripped so I get the objections to that.

RandomUsernameHere · 25/03/2023 13:14

YABU it's disgusting.

Tratjymp · 25/03/2023 13:14

The proud owner of the bin is not supposed to see you.

BadForBusiness · 25/03/2023 13:16

You're rude, they're overreacting- you are both BU. That's why the OP from the previous thread and you both got a kicking, because you're both wrong.

ChocSaltyBalls · 25/03/2023 12:47

YABU

if I wanted dogshit in my bin I would have a dog. Put it in your own bin. Calling the police is OTT though

I love these type of answers.

ahh I remember dreaming of dog shit in my bin, it’s my favourite thing about having dogs

Whichnumbers · 25/03/2023 13:23

Id just be glad you've picked it up and therefore wouldn't mind if you popped it in my bin - not sure what damage it would cause me bagged and in my bin

Figmentof · 25/03/2023 13:24

I would have retrieved the bag and flung it at you. CF.

Whichnumbers · 25/03/2023 13:26

I hate bin diving, its rank

Okunevo · 25/03/2023 13:26

No, not your bin, use a dog shit bin or take it home. I don't want my bin to smell like dog shit.

GymNewbie · 25/03/2023 13:28

Well i doubt its kerbside to be emptied on a Saturday so I'd be fucked off someone putting their dogs shit bag in my bin!
It wouldn't bother me if things like crisp bags or general litter.
Id probably chase someone up the road and give it back

ArcticSkewer · 25/03/2023 13:29

If it's kerbside, it should be collected that day so no big deal.
If people don't want it used, don't leave the bin obstructing the pavement - keep it on your property.

AlwaysLatte · 25/03/2023 13:29

Totally not on, I don't even put my own dog's poop straight in the bin just in the poo bag. Take it with you till you find a public bin or get home!

AlwaysLatte · 25/03/2023 13:30

(Although I'm not sure how many officers would attend a scene of crime where a poop bag was put into a wheelie bin)

GoodChat · 25/03/2023 13:31

It wouldn't bother me if you'd put your bag in my bin.

Most vets have poo bins outside though.

Bins near me are collected on a Saturday. They have Sunday and Monday off instead

Neededanewuserhandle · 25/03/2023 13:34

Didn't you see the huge thread on this recently?
I'd love to hear what the Police had to say.............
Some people seem to think their bin is like an operating theatre rather than a receptacle for stuff you want rid of.

eh? What processing do you do to your dogshit before putting it in the bin?

BarryStyles · 25/03/2023 13:39

YABU - your dog, your shit to deal with, put it in your own bin. I walked to school behind a woman swinging a bag of shit the other day and she put it in the school’s wheelie bin as she went through the gate, I couldn’t believe it. So that could be there for 2 weeks before the bin gets emptied - lovely. One of the main reasons I don’t have a dog is because I don’t want to deal with all the shit - but if we don’t get our bin back in quick enough after emptying, some entitled dog owner will pop one in as they’re passing. And don’t even think about having a skip on the drive for a few days - they chuck their shit bags in from a distance. Sounds like the bin owner may be sick of other people’s dog shit just like me OP.

Sassyfox · 25/03/2023 13:41

I did this a few years ago and had someone come out screaming at me.

The bin was on the side of the road ready for the bin men and do it wouldn’t have even been in there long.

I obviously didn’t do it again though.

The consensus on here at the time was that I was in the wrong because it would have made the bin smell 🤔
