Putting a poop in your bin

PoopInYourBin · 25/03/2023 12:44

Walking the dog to the vets, she poops, I tie it up in a poop bag and then put it in a wheelie bin which is kerbside for emptying. Owner of the bin threatened to call the police.

YABU don’t put poop in my bin
YANBU it’s tied up, not a problem

Totally not on, I don't even put my own dog's poop straight in the bin just in the poo bag. Take it with you till you find a public bin or get home!

What’s the difference between putting it in a public bin and your own?

I literally scoop shit with a poop scoop and empty it into my bin. The council have never refused to take it.

If you're passing by my house and the bin is kerbside, feel free to drop your properly bagged poop in the wheelie bin. It's going to be in there for a few hours max, no big deal.

As for the police, that's hilarious. I'd love to be the call handler on that one! 😂

uncomfortablydumb53 · 25/03/2023 13:44

YABU. Although the bin owner seriously overreacted
Find a public bin en route

DimplesToadfoot · 25/03/2023 13:44

I voted YABU, I've never put my dogs poop in anyone's else's bin, nor would I unless I have their permission to do so. However if my own bin is out for emptying then I don't care one bit and rather my bin that the bags getting thrown under the bushes. I also dont mind when the neighbours 'sneak' their extra rubbish into my bin as they've filled their own.

What does irk me is when I see people using the recycling bins for their poop bags, knowing that that house won't get the bin emptied as they've just 'contaminated' it and the householder will have to sort it out.

Confusion101 · 25/03/2023 13:45

I'd be highly pissed off if anyone put anything into my bin that I pay to be emptied. The height of cheek!

BarryStyles · 25/03/2023 13:45

@Sassyfox does your dog’s shit not smell then? 🤔

Allthegoodnamesarechosen · 25/03/2023 13:47

Doesn’t the bin belong to the council? Wasn’t it in a public road?

maybe a bit cheeky, but definitely not ‘wrong’.

TidyDancer · 25/03/2023 13:49

This wouldn't bother me as long as the bin was out for emptying and the shit was bagged. I've never understood why people get so worked up about a bin being used as a bin.

I respect your views. I just think it’s a waste of a bag.

Choconut · 25/03/2023 13:50

I don't get this, people cats can shit all over peoples gardens right where their kids play, dig up their flower and veg beds but you clear up after your dog and put the bag responsibly in a bin and everyone thinks it's a terrible crime somehow. It's in a bag FFS. I bet all the people who go mad are fucking cat owners as well - and no I don't own a cat or a dog.

UnsolicitedOpinions · 25/03/2023 13:53

This would (and does) piss me off so much.

Not as much as when someone put a bag of dog shit in my bin that had just been emptied. I didn’t notice and the bin bags going in on top then caused the bag to burst, smearing shit all over my bin and making it stink.

I then had to clean out the bin and the next week someone did it again, but fortunately I noticed that time.

It’s so rude. One of the many reasons I don’t have a dog is that I don’t want to have a bin full of dog shit.

I can’t believe you would think it is ok.

Sassyfox · 25/03/2023 13:59

BarryStyles · 25/03/2023 13:45

@Sassyfox does your dog’s shit not smell then? 🤔

@BarryStyles yes of course.
But no worse than rotting food, nappies, cat litter etc.

A bin isn’t supposed to smell of roses all of the time.

I don't have any of these things in my bin so don't want dog shit either.

Nannylovesshopping · 25/03/2023 14:16

I’m just happy she picked it up😂

Primroseprimula · 25/03/2023 14:19

Why do some dog owners insist on making their hounds rancid emissions everyone else's problem.

Take it home and put it on your own bin. It's really that simple.

Don't (all things I've witnessed)
-leave it on the ground
-bag it and drape it on a tree
-put it in someone else's bin to burst and smear shit everywhere
-kick it into someone's gravel driveway and cover it over with gravel
-pick it up and deposit it into a stream

It's really fucking simple

Most people's black bins contain none of these things - ours only contains non recyclable plastics, with any food rinsed off. The bin doesn't smell at all.

mummabubs · 25/03/2023 14:32

As in, you put it in a random resident's bin? If so I'm currently cringing on your behalf. Absolute no-no. (And I'm a dog owner myself). It's really rude, entitled and inconsiderate to assume you can just use someone else's bin in general, nevermind for poo!!

HamstersAreMyLife · 25/03/2023 14:43

If you put a poo bag in my bin I wouldn't care. I had no idea this was a thing tbh and I have put rubbish *not poo) in other people's wheelies when I've been on a walk and there's no public bin. Didn't occur to me anyone would object but won't do it again! I'd rather this than stepping in poo on the pavement which seems to be the norm on my road for the last 2 years

The police 😂😂😂

I wouldn't personally do this, I'd carry it to the next public bin. I don't think there's any real issue with doing it though

dogpoobin · 25/03/2023 14:54

Randoms using my wheelie bin for their dog shit! http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/amiibeingunreasonable/4765082-randoms-using-my-wheelie-bin-for-their-dog-shit

Well, well, well.

Here is my thread from last week. I had choruses of "it's a bin ffs, get over it!" etc.

Now someone admits to being a CF who does this, and gets told YABU! 🤔

From which I conclude that, people just like to argue with an OP and tell them they're unreasonable because they enjoy arguing and being contrary. Which is sad (for them).

OP - YABVVVVU - so grim!! Do NOT put your dog's shit in anyone's bin except your own or a public one.

dogpoobin · 25/03/2023 14:55

Neededanewuserhandle · 25/03/2023 13:34

Didn't you see the huge thread on this recently?
I'd love to hear what the Police had to say.............
Some people seem to think their bin is like an operating theatre rather than a receptacle for stuff you want rid of.

Was mine - linked in my previous comment.

ShowOfHands · 25/03/2023 13:13

This is a really good example of the "op automatically in the wrong" mentality on aibu. As pp said, when a bin owner asked exactly the same question recently, the responses went overwhelmingly, the other way.

Yep! 😂
