Dad taking a bath with young child

Please help:
would you consider it normal for a dad to share a bath with his children : say 3-5 years? If you had other concerns , would this be a red flag , or is this just totally ordinary / acceptable dad behaviour?

Perfectly normal

NotJohnWick · 23/03/2023 22:44

My kids user to love a bath with DH, until they got too big to fit comfortably. But there aren't any other concerns. The other concerns might change the answer.

Dacadactyl · 23/03/2023 22:45

Would depend on what the "other concerns" were tbh.

On the face of it, no it's normal...but what are the other concerns?

youbitchesaretwats · 23/03/2023 22:45

Clearly depends on "other" concerns!

On its own perfectly normal!

Demjay · 23/03/2023 22:45

Sorry should have said what the voting means :

YABU- this is normal.

YANBU- this is not typical.

Normal, my husband does it sometimes with our kids but he does wear boxers through his own choice, he doesn't feel comfortable with his privates out around the kids.

TwirlyGalaxy · 23/03/2023 22:45

Very normal, dependent on other concerns that is.

This I understand …

DH would be mortified if DD saw him without his shorts. But otherwise I don’t think it’s abnormal, really does depend on the other concerns.

RaraRachael · 23/03/2023 22:47

Definitely not done in our house as a child or a parent but that was our choice, other people are different.

BreviloquentBastard · 23/03/2023 22:47

It very much depends on the "other concerns".

But no I don't think it's weird in a vacuum, my DH bathed with our daughter when she was little. Nudity means very little to children at that age.

XenoBitch · 23/03/2023 22:48

Are they his kids? How would you feel if someone raised the same concerns with you, as their mum?

What are your other concerns? This alone wouldn't bother me.

Don’t think it’s the same

Noicant · 23/03/2023 22:48

I do think btw that if we had a son instead he’d be a lot more comfortable about being naked.

SkyandSurf · 23/03/2023 22:48

Totally normal. My children love it when one of us hops in the bath with them.

sweeneytoddsrazor · 23/03/2023 22:50

Well nothing wrong with it. Would it be ok for Mum to bath with children of that age?

XenoBitch · 23/03/2023 22:50

Demjay · 23/03/2023 22:48

Don’t think it’s the same

Hang on... so mum can share a bath with her kids, but dad can't?

Onthenosecco · 23/03/2023 22:50

Don’t think it’s the same

Why isn’t it the same?

Don’t think it’s the same

Well it is.

MajorCarolDanvers · 23/03/2023 22:50

On its own - quite normal

And yes, on its own, it’s completely normal.

ImAGoodPerson · 23/03/2023 22:51

Of course it's normal.

If you have other issues then that's a totally different thread. No one can possibly comment on that but in a normal father/child relationship then there should never be an issue with kids that young sharing a bath with a parent of either sex.

MajorCarolDanvers · 23/03/2023 22:51

Don’t think it’s the same

Why?

Redglitter · 23/03/2023 22:52

Demjay · 23/03/2023 22:48

Don’t think it’s the same

It's exactly the same. It's a parent
