To demand all my money back?

Travelled 2 hours to get away for 2 nights with the kids. Once we checked in I put everything down in the lodge and went to get some shopping and some food. By time we got back here it was late. No cot for DS and no water in the hot tub. I’ve stayed here numerous times and never had an issue so I just assumed was all ok.

their is no signal so I’m having to walk the kids down to the reception just to try and contact someone.

first time I’ve come anywhere on my own with the kids and it’s just all gone so wrong.

Before you start demanding your money back give them the opportunity to resolve the 2 issues surely?

Nimbostratus100 · 23/03/2023 06:32

where are you? strange time to get back from shopping, if you are in the UK

Changingplace · 23/03/2023 06:32

And what did they say at reception, did they resolve the issues?

Agreed, assuming you arrived last night OP? What happened when you spoke to reception?

cavebaby · 23/03/2023 06:33

You won't be refunded all your money for two relatively minor issues. Hopefully they can be resolved quickly for you.

Tryingmybestok · 23/03/2023 06:35

Check in was 4 got here for about 5. I’ve not spoken to anyone yet reception is closed I’ve been walking down here just to get some signal.

we’re leaving early tomorrow morning so didn’t even get to enjoy the hot tub last night. I can imagine they’re going to offer us another one but then today is going to consist of me sorting this out and packing up and moving to another one. I’ve spent a lot of money and just doesn’t seem worth it now.

I got back from the shops around half 7 we ate some food. Kids wanted to go in the hot tub then we realised there was no water in it, then I went to put them to bed I realise they haven’t put DS cot in. It was just too late to sort anything out. Maybe I should have checked everything first but as I said stayed here a few times before with no issues.

OP posts:
Changingplace · 23/03/2023 06:39

It’ll probably take minimal time to sort out, they’re hardly huge issues that will take all day.

So there were no staff available whatsoever when you checked in?

Tryingmybestok · 23/03/2023 06:41

@Changingplace yes girl was at the desk when I checked. But by time I got back from shopping the reception was closed and to be fair I didn’t notice things were missing until later on the evening.

Albiboba · 23/03/2023 06:42

Why are you leaving after 1 night if you were supposed to stay for 2?

WaltzingWaters · 23/03/2023 06:43

I’m assuming you specifically specified you needed a cot? And it said the hot tub would be in working order? I’d definitely complain. I don’t think a full refund is in the picture but perhaps a discount on a further stay or something.

ImSweetEnoughDarlin · 23/03/2023 06:44

Is there a hose in the garden?

londonrach · 23/03/2023 06:44

I arrived at hotels and not found cot in room...first thin g you check. Takes seconds and you let reception know. Cot arrives very quick you making this bigger than it is. Can't understand why you want out food shopping without checking the cot.

Tryingmybestok · 23/03/2023 06:44

Yes I paid £20 for cot and I booked the lodge with the hot tub. Hot tub is here just no water in it.

Stop wasting your precious time on MN and go have fun. You should have checked the cot immediately tbh.

Ivegotmyhappyfaceontodayles · 23/03/2023 06:52

Sorry to hear this OP. Sending some solidarity and sharing your annoyance. Definitely complain. For the time being, try and find the good and just enjoy precious time with your DC x

Slimemonster · 23/03/2023 06:53

Are you sure the cot isn't one of those fold away ones? It might be hiding in the cupboard/boiler room etc

TheHoover · 23/03/2023 06:54

Some hot tubs are fill yourself rather than being maintained all year round (with chemicals).
the cot can be fixed straight away.

you should be focussing on getting what you want rather than getting money back. The hotel manager at our wedding hotel told me UK travellers are generally considered the worst in the world because they go demanding refunds the minute they find something wrong.

Theunamedcat · 23/03/2023 06:54

It isn't just a case of filling a hot tub with a hose it needs chemicals it needs balancing I've stayed in places with a hot tub I had to be given the go ahead before I could use it they switched it on to heat and it was tested then I was told I could use it

Fluffodils · 23/03/2023 06:54

The cot yeah - that's a big problem. The hot tub - they should give you a partial refund if it cost more to have the hot tub.

DogsDryWineAndCheese · 23/03/2023 06:56

It depends entirely on the type of hot tub.

OP, I’d ask for the issues to be resolved and then ask for a partial refund proportionate to the loss of use for the first night. Mistakes happen.

MuffinToSeeHere · 23/03/2023 06:57

Is the cot one of those fold away ones? It's probably sitting in a wardrobe or cupboard.

Yes it's annoying that the hot tub wasn't filled but it hardly warrents you getting all your money back. I'm also really confused as to why you think packing up to move to another Lodge would take ages.

Starryskiesinthesky · 23/03/2023 06:57

dunno why folk are giving you a hard time - it sounds pretty crap that 2 things you wanted weren’t provided. I would complain but I think leaving might just mean you don’t get a refund and you get no break. If they fix the issues today then all good and, even if you have to move, it’s better than nothing. But I would definitely complain and want a discount for the first night at least.
